    I wish I still had this passion. Let me explain. I’m in my 50’s. My kids are in university. I had forgotten about our puppy love with my wife until I watch your stuff. I love the innuendo. It’s cute. We used to fog the windows and wiggle the car springs. Will not forget the cop rapping on our fogged window. Sadly, those days are long gone. I’m actually a bit jealous watching your vids. I wish I had some of that passion for my wife. Half my daughters hockey team were divorced. Guy moved on to a new “EV”. Faithful to mine. Love is deep, but that other stuff that is missing…. I hope you guys keep that fire for each other. My Red MYP is also my favourite EV. Rivian coming soon, so we’ll see.

      Thank you so much for the kind words. We’ve been married for almost 9 years and can honestly say that we are more in love now than when we got married. I hope you and your wife are able to “fog up the windows” once again. I have much respect for you because marriage can be difficult but you are and your wife have chosen to continue to be together.
      That’s exciting about the Rivian! Absolutely can’t wait until ours come in!

    Excellent video as usual. I love my late 2021 MYP as well. My 3 kids play a lot of club sports and the roominess of the car makes packing sport gear for 3 kids and luggage for 5 a breeze. I have the original 21 inch wheels, but I sold the original stock summer tires and replaced them with Michelin all season 4 tires. I also went with 275's in the front and 295's in the back and it made my white on white MYP meaner looking by boxing out the car and made the ride a lot more comfortable because of having more rubber. The secondary benefit is that the rim is now inside the tire for more rim protection. A win / win in my book

      I had a Model 3 LRDM and I think the Model does drive better. I felt much more connected to the road than the MYP but the pros of the MYP are just it’s size and is tuned more for comfort even with the 21’s. It’s better for our family as a family vehicle whereas the Model 3 was more enjoyable without kids.

    Greetings, New Subscriber here! 🙋🏽‍♂️
    I'm on the wait list for a Rivian R1T (for the Mrs) and an R1S (for me) however been eyeing the Model Y (and X). I know there are pros and cons to Tesla vs Rivian, but in your experience, do you have an overall preference between the 2 brands/mentioned models?
    Thanks and take care! ✌️

    • @EVandChill
      @EVandChill  Год назад +1

      Hey Joseph! Welcome to the channel!
      This is a very difficult question to answer because both brands are awesome and obviously the top of the game when it comes to EVs.
      Knowing what I know now after having the R1T, I wish I had put a deposit for the R1S as well (pre-price hike). The R1T has quickly become my family’s favorite vehicle; however, charging infrastructure is still against it and all other non-Tesla EVs. We typically travel often and our Tesla MYP is unbeatable in having the confidence to travel anywhere and knowing that all Superchargers along the way are going to work. Currently the plan for both of our vehicles is to use the R1T for shorter trips but if the destination is more than 2 charging stop away, 100% taking the MYP and we may end up just taking the MYP anyways just because we may not want the additional stressor of hoping the chargers works with ElectrifyAmerica.
      All this can change if Tesla allows non-Tesla EVs to use their Superchargers like they are planning on later this year. If that happens, go two Rivians 100%. Tesla still has the tech advantage but Rivian is close enough that I would probably sell the MYP and get a R1S as a replacement and be perfectly happy.
      So bottom line if I was you, I’d buy the R1T and R1S, use the money that you saved in not buying a Tesla Model X for a rental if you need to travel cross country, and have the best of all the worlds when Tesla opens up their Superchargers to all EVs. The Rivian is just soooo good. It’s literally a Swiss Army knife in being good at everything.
      Hope that helps!

    What’s the real world range you get? I’m awaiting delivery and don’t hear a lot on RUclips about what a 80-90% charge gets you - all I know if 305mi is under best conditions and is the estimate, but you’re not charging to 100% every time.

    • @EVandChill
      @EVandChill  Год назад

      At 80% I typically start off around 240mi of range and can easily average 276Wh/mi which is 3.62mi/kWh at a 65mph average. That’s with family in the car, AC on 72 with fan speed of 2, and average take off speed. I don’t think that’s too bad considering I have rally style mud flaps and rims savers on wheels which both affect efficiency as well.

If the price does come down I will consider it again (just one year ago it was $69,990.00 CAD)! Instead of throwing money at goofy and hideous rim protectors, invest in slightly wider tires. Road rash is super annoying, but overall your car will look better and get real protection from curbs with tires that cover the wheel lip instead of those stupid rim strips that will peel off just from driving. Did this on my X and the wife's Y P, neither of us had another curb rash issue in over a year.

    Volvo XC40 P8 is my choice. I looked at the Model Y and still went with the Volvo. Tesla is good; we have a Model 3 (my spouse drives it every day). We haven't had any issues with our Model 3 and, admittedly, while minor we have had issues with the Volvo. One time I went out and it was a brick - wouldn't do anything. 15 minutes later I went out and tried it again and it worked - no explanation for why/how/wtf over. As a first year, brand new vehicle for Volvo the Company is doing well overall; not perfect - not excellent (before all the haters pounce). My spouse and I both agree: Tesla is better technology and BMS (somewhat expected for as long as it has been in the space) though the Volvo is the better vehicle - more comfortable, more luxurious, better ride - all the lines (trim pieces/door trims) are good - there is no water in the door sill after a heavy rain like in the Tesla.
