The part where Godzilla bends down after the camera flash really highlights the intelligence of the creature. It just experienced something new and reacts with curiosity. It doesn't immediately see Nick as a threat*, it just looks at him with the same wonder and contemplation that Nick has when he looks at it. *I've seen plenty of natural horror/monster movies where a camera flash is all it takes to enrage the creature/monster.
Im gonna say it, I LOVE this movie and version of Godzilla! The spin off stuff that followed and games that came with it was a wonderland to me, including lazer tag surrounding the kids show.

Godzilla makes quick work of him, but according to online sources the director of this film was just beyond happy that Zilla had been acknowledged by the Japanese. I'll admit as a fan of both the original Godzilla AND Zilla, I was happy too. They've basically claimed Zilla as the weird cousin no one likes to talk about, but will still admit is part of the family, lol.
The biggest problem with this movie is that it's named Godzilla. If this was it's own monster it'd be well recieved. Hopefully it shows up in the monsterverse as it's own monster.
