French nuclear tests irradiate an iguana into a giant monster that viciously attacks freighter ships in the Pacific Ocean. A team of experts, including Niko Tatopoulos, conclude that the oversized reptile is the culprit. Before long, the giant lizard is loose in Manhattan as the US military races to destroy the monster before it reproduces and it's spawn takes over the world.

6:40 - 7:00: the scene that started the quote, 'the cameraman never dies'! Love this movie; such a big part of my childhood! ^^
6:38 - 6:46 I want Godzilla to step on me so I can stick to his leg.
Why didn’t he just get out of the way? He could have been stepped on. There are so many people in movies who are in danger of getting stepped on by a giant creature or getting crushed by a large object and they just stand there and don’t get out of the way and someone has to get them out of the way
6:40 Screaming!🤣

It rains in the entire movie, no matter where the scene is
What if it's monsoon 😊
Crazy how I actually ignored the rain but it's for the cgi. Age does come knowledge lol.
The rain seems to come and go in different shots even though it's all the same scene
As many times as I’ve watched this movie I never noticed how much it rained🤣I think it was only one scene where Nick was standing in the Zillas footprint that it wasn’t raining🤣
Maybe this godzilla is a titan that brings storms

I kinda felt sorry for that old dude he wanted to fish.

Just Beautiful and perfect
Yes
This was my introduction to Godzilla and I love this movie ✨
It may not really be "Godzilla" but the creature design of Zilla is fuckin rad. Always loved how this animal looked.
I agree. It’s a bad Godzilla movie, but it’s a good monster movie.

This design is horrible imo. Looks more like jurassic Park.

It Looks Amazing 👏
This movie is exactly why I believed dinosaurs were way bigger than they actually are lol. I thought that was a Tyrannosaurus actually size lol
Funnily enough they had made a teaser trailer of a museum tour talking about the t-rex and the dinosaurs themselves being the largest things ever to walk the earth and then Godzilla’s foot smashes onto to the museum look it up it’s pretty good
@@jurassicguardian924X that sounds hilarious lol

Let's pay tribute to the guy who still had time for a quick ice bucket challenge.
I love late 90s to early 2000s NYC, this film and spiderman really nail the vibe ofnthe city back then id love to live in a time capsule there of back then
What's it like now? How's it different? Is it just a 90s vibe in general or specific to nyc.
@zeno4538 I think it could be argued it's for the general 90s but the city was safer than it is today, crime was on the drop, and optimism across the city was going up. New phones and devices were coming out left and right but didn't disrupt human interaction yet. Cars were cool, the overall atmoshphere seemed more nieve and cheery. Everything changed mostly after 9/11 and just descended
@@snusemcgoose1001 i was watching the movie "seven" and was really facinated by how different the world used to be. I was born in 99 so i never got to experience this time. It feels nostalgic because i caught a little of it as a kid, mid 2000s was a bit similar. I think people were more social back then
@@snusemcgoose1001 the growth of the internet and smart phones really changed everything, in some ways good some ways bad. I took like a month of all media, except radio when driving. It felt good for a bit, even nostalgic, but i work and study a lot so my life was getting a little too boring. Don't have much time for social stuff. Had to pic up all the media again, it fills in the gaps well, i get inspiration and motivation from it too. So there is some benefit. Also learned a shit tonne from it, youtube included.
@@zeno4538 Seven is a great movie and definitely highlights a different side that definitely did exist back then below the surface of what I said previously
2:01 OOOH it’s Mikey palmice!

Jimmy Altieri is also the forklift operator at the beginning lol.
Junior must've asked Mikey to do a collection on Tony's behalf that day....no wonder he was hostile towards him LMAO
3:41 this scene really gave me goosebumps as a kid. Just seeing the big building falling apart at the end of the street and the ground shaking each time it steps on the ground with that music was incredible.

I was obsessed with Godzilla and Dinosaurs as a kid. It was either this movie or Jurassic Park that I was turning on as soon as I got home from school.
He manged to stand after having X tons of air pressure from all sides and the ground being smashed around him, taking no injury. Truly a superhero 6:48

The most accurate scene in this entire movie ...
when the NY mayor claims to "have reduced crime" !
NOTHING has changed !😅
😄 (lol) Nothing quite like a ‘ Big Apple ’ welcome. Godzilla wanted ‘ to wake up in the city that never sleeps and be a part of It. New York, New York! ’
Yes Top of the Peak😂
I remember going into the movie theater and there was a spicy doritos commercial with this godzilla eating them and jumping towards the harbor 😅
I remember seeing this film when I was 11. Not going to lie, the graphics, honestly, still hold up
This felt more like a remake of The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms than a Godzilla movie.
Definitely. I mean, that was a big ol' nasty, pointy toothed reptile, yes...but that was no Godzilla!!
Maybe that's what they should've done, just change it the title/name to that and change the roar and it would be perfect.

As bad as it is, this movie did a great job on Godzilla's entrance. The atmosphere, the music, the shot, everything is perfect. It managed what KoTM and GvsK failed to do. Sense of size and sense of weight...
KOTM is a good movie though
Except it's far from a bad movie.
Its actually a very good movie. Its just not accurate as far as Godzilla goes thats all which i understand as its an american version.

Yes, Agreed. Pacific Rim did a better job in that respect as well.
so many people focused on the design issue that they missed all the brilliant filmmaking moments.

3:59 - 4:05 Godzilla crushes people with his feet
I will admit, the shots of Zilla with the legs in the shots only and gradually building up to the eventual head shot was pretty cool. I liked that G2014 took influence from that for Godzilla’s full reveal (although the cutaway sadly hurt that film).
6:38 - 6:46 I want Godzilla to step on me so I can stick to his leg.

A bad one, at that

Many have already.....the animated series included
I'm not 10. animation is lame.
@@robertsims3759 Buddy animation is for people of all ages, same with cgi. Animation is cheaper than cgi and realistically can do things cgi can't even do in live action media. The special effects seemed to look so much more 'real' back then.
Probably because today, we have some top-tier cgi to gauge with (eg. Infinity War Thanos, Jungle Book 2016, Godzilla Minus One, etc.)

I'm in NYC right now and remembering this movie
This sequence is actually decent. If only the rest of the movie had been as good. I really liked the design of the monster, although the lack of atomic breath, among other things, was unforgivable.
Despite it's issues to Godzilla franchise, you gotta admit it was an great film as it's own stand alone monster film. I mean, in this whole scene, it's chaos and destruction to the people, but it's basically a 'meh' stroll for Zilla.
Well ur opinion but I still think it's a bad monster movie on its own
@@Chubbytoad12ratio
@@N7mudkip ok it's like you think I'm the weird one for not liking a stupid dumb film
It doesn’t work as a Godzilla movie, but it is good as a monster movie. Takashi Yamazaki said it works as a standalone Kaiju movie. He directed Godzilla Minus One.
This movie was great for its time. It was a fun romp. And you could see the scenes! Today everything is dark to look at ”real” but is just used to cheap out on production.

They did have an animated miniseries back in like the early 2000s
@jimmysbro-ju5pl Yeah, I remember it. Every episode; a new guest "monster" to beat up.
It had possibilities, but like King Kong 2007 (the first remake), it just couldn't catch on.

I wonder where the Ghostbusters and TMNT were when this was all going down.
Never until now did I realize that this Godzilla movie had three iconic voice actors of The Simpsons in Hank Azaria, the camera guy in the movie (4:58), Harry Shearer - reporter, and Nancy Cartwright - his Harry's Shearer's secretary role (4:12). Must have been a fun set!
This was still a fun movie. I don’t know why it gets so much flack.
I prefer this and older ones, there's character and charm, the new Godzilla films are cold and inexpressive
The cameraman lived! For a brief moment I thought that as Godzilla passed over him a 500 pound turd was going to fall and kill him.
6:05 The good, old times when film writers could use words available in the vocabulary and not being scared of being cancelled...
Pretty sure lots of movies still use the n-word, it's just gotta mean something. If it's just a character insulting another, that's in poor taste.
