Afton Audrey Landers lives near me. She gave me her parking space at a hospital parking lot about 10 yrs ago. She looked great and was a very nice person. Sometimes we forget actors are just every day people when they’re not working. She and the rest of her family volunteer with a children’s reading program. We are close to the same age. I am sure she’s thinking that Dallas is such a long time ago. I am sure Audrey probably lives a busy life, but I find it sad that so many have passed away. Hey, I guess that’s just life. Katherine Wentworth was a psycho!!

One of my favorite scenes from season six. I remember watching this when it originally aired on CBS and I remember thinking how Afton seemed to be the only person who could see Katherine for who she was and what her true motives were. Audrey Landers did such a marvelous job in the role of Afton.
Alton knew that Katherine is the b#tch, homewrecker, she warned Cliff about what Katherine was doing. Cliff was being very dense, he should have listened to Afton.

I never felt sorry for afton- not after she slept with jr in his and suellen’s bedroom at mitch and lucy’s wedding reception- she got what she deserved with cliff- nice to hear audrey’s sweet though

The 80's were the best. I loved Dallas, so much drama, hate, family squabbles and beautiful women in this scene alone and it's centered around a drill bit and oil. 👌

There was an episode...I think it was after Cliff led the attempted lynch mob against JR over his gas stations at the Ewing Barbecue ...where Ray called Cliff “vermin.” That was the best line of the entire series.
Afton deserved better...she deserved SO much better. She picked up on Katherine Wentworth's devious intentions a full year before anyone else. If the viewing public ever needed a confirmation that Cliff Barnes was a total loser, it was when Afton walked out on him at the beginning of the 1984-1985 season. He didn't even try to persuade her to stay with him.
JR seemed to have a lust for life Cliff was a much more bitter and angry man apart from Chinese food he had no time or appetite for the good things in life he amazingly managed to bed a bevy of beautiful women , but even those were either JR's cast off's or women who took pity on him however he never allowed himself time to enjoy those experiences . The irony is he was an honest and civically minded man in the beginning who become more and more decrepit as each season of the show passed. If Cliff had taken the knocks JR dealt him in the first season and stayed in the political arena he would eventually have beaten JR however once he decided to fight JR in the oil business he became an eternal loser.

Cliff Barnes was his OWN WORST enemy, I mean here he is with a good woman at his side, and instead of thanking her for what he did, he blows up at her. Cliff ruined just about everything relationship he had. Afton in reality was way too good for Cliff, and she was smarter than him too. Katherine Wentworth was a no good down witch! She was in love with Bobby Ewing, and it was very obvious. But it was a sick kind of love, not a real kind of love.
Cliff Barnes battle really wasn't with Bobby, , it was with JR. And yes, I would be pissed like she was if he embarrassed me right in front of somebody else. It just seems to me that Cliff should be BEGGING Bobby to use that drill bit. It would mean millions of dollars for both companies. It would help Bobby, and in turn it would help Bobby acquire Ewing oil, and JR would be out of the picture. Cliff Barnes really allowed his emotions to get in the way on this. He just couldn't see the forest for the trees. Never let a grudge stand in the way of a good business deal, especially when you can kill two birds with one stone, so to speak. You get to make millions of dollars, and you get rid of a hated enemy.

As with many shows from the 1970's and 80's, some of Dallas's interior sets were spatially impossible. I wish they'd designed the interior set for Cliff's condo to match the exterior shots.
Totally weird but i never paid attention first time around at setpieces and decoration. Dallas and Falcon Crest spent very little budget on “nondescript/random fancy restaurant sets”. I am surprised at how cheap most of the restaurant scenes look…small tables and cheap chairs, yucky wall art, puny potted plants etc.
What really bothered me on the TNT series was they made Afton look like a troublemaker and villain when she was the exact opposite. Cliff had everything going for him with her and he wrecked it all preferring revenge and getting up one on the Ewings when he could. He treated all his women like that.
Cliff was a rotten, selfish, self-absorbed man. It was proven that Jock never stole from Digger, it was all baloney. Cliff was unhinged in his obsession with the Ewing’s.
