The amazing Barbara Bel Geddes. In my opinion Miss Ellie was as important to the series as JR. She was the moral center of the show (with few exceptions). I heard Patrick Duffy once describe her performance as “small but powerful”. He wasn’t referring to her stature, but the powerful restraint which propelled her performances. When the show first ran I simply loved watching her; and all these years later her appeal has not abated. By the time Dallas came along she was an acclaimed actress and she did not not disappoint as Miss Ellie.

Ms. Ellie was a loving wife and mother but still a force to be reckoned with. We could definitely use someone like her in congress to stand up for “we the people!”

My Favorite Episode of Miss Ellie, Wasn't showed. It was when Miss Ellie, Had decided to declare Jock as being dead. Miss Ellie was in tears, when she had to admit this in front of her family, in order for the Ewing's to be able to run Ewing Oil. My favorite line was when Miss Ellie said, She was Jock's Woman with Soo! Much Love! and Honer! You can Tell in her voice and Tears , This was the Hardest thing she Ever! Had to do.

I love that one. My fave was when we thought she was cooperating with J.R. amd would put John Ross in the helicopter. My heart sank. Then, she handed him back to Sue Ellen. ❤ wins.

@hollygolightly3907 Yes! I remember that episode. JR would use AnyOne! to get What he wants. I was also Happy when Mrs. Ellie realize what she was doing was Wrong. Thanks!

Cracks me up to think about lol. Jock Ewing had grown men shaking in their shoes back in his younger days (and even toward the end of his life he was not a man to be played with) and then a little bit of a thing like Elinor Southworth takes a horsewhip to him? 🤣

Has anyone found any interviews that Barbara Bel Geddes gave on the subject of Dallas? I've looked around for them, and no results come up. I thought this very odd, especially given that interval of time when she was replaced.

    • @DarlingNikki2

He knew better than to openly disrespect her like that younger idiot did. He knew that all it would take is for Miss Ellie to mention him being disrespectful to her and his reputation would have been ruined.
