    My God can Larry Hagman control a scene or what?! When he's confronting Sly he totally brings the viewer into that chair Sly was sitting in and you felt like he was confronting you...This is so perfectly executed by both..

      There is not a soul that ever lived that could have pulled of playing JR Ewing, considering JR was supposed to be a secondary character originally like "Ray Krebbs"...JR went on to be not only the face of Dallas but the face of the 80s,...Alexis Carrington was the female JR on Dynasty and her role was inspired by Larry Hagman

    This clip shows how effectively music was used on Dallas to heighten the dramatic effect. If you watch the entire ending of the scene after the music begins playing over JR and Sly the music reaches a crescendo and the episode ends with a freeze frame of JR looking deadly serious. I love this as it shows the "nice" side of J.R. we rarely see. He easily could have destroyed Sly, as he has to others for much less. But, Sly's motivation wasn't to help Cliff, or profit for herself, it was for family. She wanted to help her brother out of a jam and was seemingly out of other options. Also, when confronted, she didn't try to lie her way out of it or turn it around on J.R. (a common tactic of people who cross him). She told the truth, apologized (and meant it), and threw herself on the mercy of the court. Even if it hadn't provided an opportunity for J.R. to skewer Cliff, I think he would have still forgiven her.

    Although it was easy to feel sorry for Cliff Barnes, being the underdog with JR, it's also important to remember that Cliff had his ruthless side as well. He was the one who first approached Sly, threatening to use his connections to prevent her brother's parole from prison.

    • @adriangilbert5364
      @adriangilbert5364 7 месяцев назад

      Actually that's why it was easy to not feel sorry for Cliff. He made it his life's work to beat the Ewings, sacrificed anything and anybody and still rarely ever succeeded. He stole from his own mother. He used a sister that thought the world of him as nothing but leverage. Threw away good women with both hands. He deserved everything he ever got.

      openmind1966 me too. When I was younger I used to be one of them. In fact, Sly and I were probably about about the same age when that was on. I mean early 20s. Very competitive even then so you had to dress for success. I love the guys haircuts back then like Bobby and Ray. On Dallas, Jock had the coolest hair. Now guys do half crew cuts with some of it just sticking out. The guys wore dress jeans over cowboy boots, or even Levy and Lee Jeans. They wore blazers, long sleeve button down with the jeans and sometimes a vest or thin tie. They were really looking good too. Unfortunately nothing stays the same. Yeah, I may have had my ears pierced in 2 or 3 places, but that was it. Don’t remember many girls with Tattoos. I like the music better in the 70s, 80s, and 90s too. Just getting old I guess. Glad some of you agree! Dallas was cool and yep I liked TV better before the millinium changed too.

    Some of the photo evidence that J.R showed to Sly was of her previous 'poolside' meetings with Cliff ........This isn't possible, since J.R hadn't hired the private eye during that time!

      To be fair she was regular and in almost every episode since she first came on to the show. Plus she had her own storylines too.....in the later seasons it would had been nice to see her make the opening credits as it was a lot easier then. The first 10 yearstho itwas very hard to make the opening credits.
