You have really good support materials. Thank you very much. I got the slide stuck and was trying to muscle it just like you said not to. As soon as I grabbed the top of the slid and barely bumped the grip, it went right back into battery. This saved my evening. Thanks again!

Glad there's a video on this. This issue robbed me of my gun for a month but Shadow Systems support helped me solve it. Racking the gun 3 times before disassembly has solved this 100% for me.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that this video was made because of me. Cody from SS helped me solve this problem in person because I simply didn't want to be too rough with it getting it back into battery as it was very new at the time. They listen. They pay attention. They will always have my business.

The stuck part happened to me as well. However, Shadow Systems Support helped me, Trevor had a video in my inbox in less than 24 hrs. Problem solved! I would agree with others that I have never run into this "stuck" area with any other glock-like pistol; however I feel like it's because of the tighter tolerances of the MR920. Overall, I'm still very impressed with the firearm; I have about 600 rds through it now and zero failures. I had 2 failures to lock after the last round, but I blame either my grip or the magazine; likely my grip. The quality is outstanding, I would also like to point out that if you look very closely on the Taran Tactical RUclips home page; you'll notice (if you look closely) that there is a Shadow Systems barrel in their Combat Master. I have not been paid by SSC; just giving credit where credit is due.

Thanks for making this video! I have the cr920 and the mr920 and my slide was getting stuck alot on my mr920, and i couldnt figure out why. The trick where you pull down on the tab first and then pull the slide back was extremely helpful. Pretty much a non issue now. The slide does travel less than on my glock 19 so i was just used to that and trying to do the same. Thanks again!

Literally always just done it like a Glock and haven't had issues. Trigger to the rear, thumb over beaver tail and pressure with thumb enough to take out of battery, pull tabs, push slide forward. Cool that the shadow lets you get enough of a grip on the tabs that you don't have to use nails though.

(I don't own any of your guns, but I think I may buy one after this video)
Holy Crap you saved my bacon with this video. I was disassembling my XDs 45 acp 3.3... I butterfingered it, and dropped it mid disassemble. I was in that state where the slide was stuck and couldn't move. I searched videos and the only videos that came up was the ones where someone installs a slide without the barrel and guide, and the slide is stuck to the receiver. I thought I was going to have to fork over a ton of cash to my local gunsmith. Funny that, grab the slide and do a light tap on the backstrap where the grip safety is.
Sir, you saved me from feeling like a total idiot! Although, I still kinda feel like an idiot for dropping my XD while disassembling it... 🤦🏽‍♂️
Either way, if my gunsmith wasn't sick with that thing you arent supposed to mention, I'd have probably paid him and looked like an idiot.
I am saving your video, and will refer to you and your videos if any of my friends with XDs's have the same problem! And being a Springfield guy (The majority of my pistols and long guns are Springfield) I should have known this... 🤦🏽‍♂️. Live and learn.

I have a brand new G26, and I got what I thought was two "double feeds" in the first 10 rounds fired 😱. My G26 was getting stuck exactly as you described. On field stripping, I noted that the back end of the recoil assembly was getting slightly chewed up as it was striking the the slide stop. Q. What causes "the significant downward force on the back of the guide rod"? Even though my G26 seems to be running fine now, on its first range session the amount of times I had to do the "karate chop" on the grip was disconcerting. Q. Should I send it back to Glock to be examined? Replace the recoil assembly? I've owned lot's of Glocks, and this is the first time in 20 years I've ever had one malfunction. Thanks so much.

Travis, for science purposes only. What where to happen if someone had the slide lock down while they let off a round? Obviously I would never preform such and action and would highly advise against anyone ever attempting it, but for science, what would happen?

  • @winstonsmiths2449
    @winstonsmiths2449 2 года назад

Cute, but the REAL problem is when the barrel gets wedged under the edge of the locking block.
Solution without damage: if you can see the barrel feed-ramp and where it is jammed under the locking block, use a wooden or plastic dowel. Vice the pistol (protect with cloth etc) as long as you can get a dowel to push against the barrel and feed ramp, you can smack it with a hammer until it is somewhat free. Once the barrel can be pushed forward by hand while using the dowel, you can tilt the barrel with your free hand. That is it. Didn't take too much force.
I whacked at the slide from the rear, from the front, tried tilting the barrel up, nothing. Pushing the barrel forward from the feed ramp was easy once I thought about it.
I used a plastic stirring spoon just over 1/4" in diameter. More or less diameter will probably work. I sawed off about 6" and used that
I marred my pistol just a bit trying all the other "beat-the-sh!t-out-of-it" techniques, that is where the damage came from.

The firing pin is frozen ( hammer is free to move, but is pushed back due to the frozen pin) the trigger is free, and the safety is frozen on fire.

What to do when a g23 slide sticks open? The slide goes back too far and stays open with out a mag or the locking bar being either part of the problem. It is solely the slide assembly in relation to the spring and rod, and lower. What is needed to fix this?
