You know, more often than not, the blasting type drummers lack all feel, but somehow Samus here really retains a lot of emotion and feel in his playing. It's a very welcome sight, and I really envy him for his speed and technique. Very admirable.
@@balzach7734 No, I found my own style. 9 years later and I realize that this type of music doesn’t always give me the peace I’m searching for. I connected so well with it at the time because I used to use the music to justify my thinking/actions, when in reality I should’ve just addressed my issues. I say all of this to say, I was super insecure back then because I was trying to be who my family/parents wanted to be instead of just being myself. Now I’m at peace and slowly reconnecting with my true identity. So just to reiterate, I do still think he’s a highly skilled musician and I respect his hard work and dedication, but I don’t want to be like him because I would be doing a disservice to myself. Let's see, in 2007-ish, I was living in Poland (I'm not Polish) and was working on my first home recording studio. Fun how this video makes me look back.
that was pretty fuckin awesome man. i love the sound of your kit man, you can hear each individual stroke on the snare but also the toms as well instead of it all just blurring into a chaotic rumble
@55kolby55 trust us he didn't tamper we have 3 camera angles live on him from Summer Slaughter 2010 and he is this fast or faster and even better now that he's a little more seasoned
I love this guy :D never heard blast beats clearly groove so well, you can feel the larger scale tempo under it which is damn unusual. Too bad he's gotta pwn himself with drink, but that's not unusual at all, hope he survives a long time :)
it was about a year ago when i first saw this video and this is what made me take drumming seriously. i don't know why i haven't marked this as a favourite yet! to me, this video is a classic.
I didn't know about this video, at last i can see your real drumming not the triggering crap actually u have. Excelent power, great technique, amazing blasting stamina and killer double bass. All my respect man.
🙄 what are you blind? Even though he uses triggers he obviously has power behind his strokes, look at the massive ass stick height he gets in his blasts. Especially his Boneyards cover, those sticks are almost at a 90° angle lol
@66Samus Saw decrepit birth at summer slaughter in San Diego, flew all the way from Ireland to see you guys. Samus, all I can see is you were phenomenal, easily the tightest drummer of the night, and thats saying something! Awesome work Samus, I look up to you, and hope that someday I can play on a similar level to you. Thank you.
@BluntAnim not sure about that. If you watch the video you can see att diffrent times that he is moving to fast and the symbals at some times stops moving to quickly after he has hit them.
You just broke my ears god damn it! For sure one of the fastest drummers ever! I guess drumming machines have something to look forward to being someday. ;)
I bought your drumsticks from the Decrepit Birth merch stand on the Summer Slaughter tour and gave em to my bro Ben who couldn't make and he says they're the best sticks he's ever played with...keep up the metal my brotha
@KaNepoo0041 Sure he does. Look just below the crash on the bottom right side of the screen. There's an x hat there, and there's one on the left side as well, you just can't see it because of how he's sitting.
Just like it is not solely chops, or knowledge of music theory alone, or just good timing that determines if a drummer is good. It is everything all around, speed, timing, chops, musical knowledge, and also endurance.
I remember watching this around the time I started playing drums - I was totally blown away! Now over 10 years later it is still very impressive!
Look it's Wanja! :D
Wanja [Nechtan] Gröger you're awesome too
Mr Nechtan now I'm learning from you!!! You are excelent also!
Wanja [Nechtan] Gröger wow hey Wanja hahaha that's so cool I never new that
i love you, you are totally kickass
"Hey bro, if you wouldn't mind..... turn that light off when you drum. It's 2 in the morning, people are trying to sleep!"
lol wtf
"So anyways, I started blasting
You’re worried about the light!?
Actually crazy he did this in the dark💀💀💀💀💀💀
dude i cant do that sober
That's the point. N O J U N K, N O SO U L
that rock? lets hear what metal is!
Metal would be scissors
It'd probably just be grindcore
I've been playing for just 11 years now and I remember seeing this as a total beginner! This really takes me back man, hope all is well.
glad to see you without the trigger sam. this video is old, but i think its kinda gold
Better than anything recent
sphinct Tear harsh
sphinct Tear he has gotten way tighter and toms got cleaner
Also, those blasts have tightened up A LOT since those decrepit birth shows

you're slowly becoming one of my favourite drummers
he should rerecord this

Wow, didn't know Frank Bello played the drums so well...
I love you for that comment XD

7 years later and I just now realized I based a FUCKton of my style based off of this video.
