TBDM - Nocturnal is one of the most highly creative drum spectacles to this day in melodic death metal. Not over-played, not excessive for each track, literally as close to perfection as you can get. I have spent hours upon hours drumming along to that album.
@@Unknownusername1004 Yeah, Deflorate was more "oddball" especially his footwork, but Nocturnal in the classic sense was just pure relentless and great writing. You can actually hear on the album that drums were still "human" and not programmed in any sense too, listen to the chorus in Deathmask Divine again. He really has to power through those fast runs and you can hear the struggle. It's a shame today how many bands just use Superior Drummer 3.
66samus kicks ass!! I love that guy fucking amazing drummer and really funny guy!! Youre the one who made me decide to start learning drums at 51. Been a Metalhead for 40yrs, now that i have more time on my hand ,its fun learning and watching your vids is always a blast 🤘🤘🥁

that involuntary doppelganger drum line reminds me of marching beat snare work in the military. i actually prefer this double snare technique to the single roll blast beats, more intense and harder to pull off those perfect subdivisions between bounces. very easy to make double handed snare sound off
I kinda thought that drummer may have had some marching band experience going by the sticking patterns and the precision, looks like a challenge! Spun me out to see that.
@@jlo7770it‘s funny that you say this under a video that also features Infant Annihilator, which have no real drums whatsoever and could be called „miming“ in every right. Shows how little of a clue you have
As soon as I saw The Violation by Fleshgod Apocalypse being first, I knew the video would be good. Edit: AND Black Dahlia?! Sheeet AND ARCHAPIRE?! And... you just knew the gravity blast from Cu*t Crusher would be on here. 10/10 Would rewatch for the 16th time.
I really like a blastbeat from At the Gates of Understanding by Azarath, appearing first around 16th second of the song. It sounds incredible. Inferno is a beast behind the kit.
Look Up Marco Pitruzzella. That's My Mentor. Be Extremely Careful And Safe Out There !! May You, Your Familia, Friends Have An Amazing Positively Safe Blessed Day/ Night Today.
Tbh, a lot of sampling and triggers make it seem like we’re hitting the drums with mjölnir, the first albums of Suffocation and Origin are more realistic, but there are also drummers like Eloy Casagrande from Sepultura who hit like a train but still manage to hit 220 bpm fairly easy
It’s crazy how easy people forget Alexgrind from despised icon. He can outplay all these bands and he paved the way for this music in the mainstream deathcore. Don’t forget the legend.
You're crazy if you think he can outplay Aaron from Infant Annihilator. Kid's easily one of the fastest and best in the world. Also, he paved the way for nothing, extreme metal drumming as a whole was pioneered by the thrash guys of the 80's, and refined by Gene Hoglan more than anyone. It's okay to have favorites but don't make baseless claims, almost all of these drummers are on an insane genius level. Even bro from Archspire with the lolRemo heads.
The Skin Thief by Necrogoblikon has some fantastic blast beats too. Silent Life by Rivers of Nihil And deadass. If you love the drums from Fleshgod, try the Japanese band Imperial Circus Dead Decadence. Shinbatsu goes nutty with the blasts, their song 'gekiai no yobigoe ga dekiai no kyougoe wo' has a blast beat section about 4 mins in, it's absolutely Heavenly
The Japanese band's drummer is okay, but something about the skank pattern sounds offensively off to me. I'd put Asterism's drummer against them any day, JS. Nekrogoblikon and Rivers of Nihil are 10/10 on any drummer or metalhead list.
@@Stuugie. Hadn't heard 1914 before... they're pretty good blackened death. Track sounds kind of remind me of Miasma by BDM, or Into the Ashes by Abigail Williams.
As a drummer, I respect the hell out of this stuff. It's like a hybrid of music and martial arts.
Blastbeats should be introduced at the next Olympic Games
TBDM - Nocturnal is one of the most highly creative drum spectacles to this day in melodic death metal. Not over-played, not excessive for each track, literally as close to perfection as you can get. I have spent hours upon hours drumming along to that album.
I think deflorate was better creativity wise but I’m also a Shannon Lucas fanboy considering he’s the reason I got into melodic death metal drumming

Se tu toca este álbum , parabéns!
Está playing drums muito...
Bro, Archspire and Fleshgod Apocalypse drum parts are made, for masochists, by masochists! 🤣
Check Benighted and Aborted. There are a few bands out there that are pure nihilism
Brutal not for weaks😅😅😅
Eugene in FA is a dream come true
Check out Necrosy too!!
sadomasochism \m/
Serious physical and artistic talent on display. These mad lads are sick in the best way possible!
Alan Cassidy is an incredible drummer, but the Shannon era TBDM will always be my fave.
Most definitely. Shannon is a beast
Yeah buddy!
Agree, the older BDM just hits different.
I love that he wore driftcats. Best drumming shoes I’ve ever tried!

Brain drill especially
"Winds of Horus" by Nile has one of the most underrated blasts in metal, the blasts with cymbal chokes are insane
Thats right!
god i just can never get enough of blasts with dotted crashes... rips so hard
I miss Shannon Lucas. He was fucking awesome in TBDM.

Wicked talent from these dudes. Whole video slaps!
Thanks for the video.
I loved the Superior Drums video there with the kid in the beanie.
