So I heard from a relative of one of Apple’s hardware engineers about all those variety of screws - it seems stupid to have so many different screws all throughout the product, but the reason they do that is because each screw is selected for its thermal transfer properties. All those different screws are why iPhones and MacBooks don’t get hot spots on them while under heavy load like every other phone and laptop do. They’re designed to spread the heat much more evenly across the whole device so they don’t get as hot and are less likely to overheat or fail or lock up.
To answer your question, Zac - Apple has been doing the sombrero hat trick since at least 2016 revs. I just replaced the battery on my 2017 MBP and it's the same there, too. In fact it's surprising how similar the layout is to the new M1/M2s. It wasn't that way on the previous versions, likely because the PMU had the original magsafe (v. I & II) on a seperate PMU board and not integrated via USB-C/TB ports.
The text isn't braille (as far as I know) because there isn't a character that corresponds to two middle dots and obviously the character at the end/front with a line then a dot isn't braille either. It's probably a way for them to note something about the part. Perhaps they didn't just print the information because they already were having a tool form the aluminum, so they might as well use that to also print the manufacturing info on the metal with the braille-like bumps.
The battery using a screw has been since 2016 from what I remember. Although using pull tabs is definitely new since the old ones where held with crazy adhesive with no tabs. If the keyboard needed replaced then the entire top case was replaced battery and all lol

Since it is de-bossed reverse the Braille then try to translate it.
8:25 - Remember, the laptop is more afraid of you than you are of it! Laptops are not known for their aggressive behavior, despite how wide they are able to open their mouth!
My Heart stops each time that Jerry Rig knife touches that book.
for real though, honestly suppressed he didn't go ROG phone on this thing, (if you don't know what I'm talking about, he scratched the paint off the ROG phone)
You make teardown videos incredibly entertaining as well as informative. 🇮🇪👍
Man even the hardware guts look awesome.
Petition for a 20min pull tabs asmr
The pull tabs section was awfully painful pain for the ears but could not skip cause it was satisfying too.
I like how he mentioned Dbrand Dark plates binary easter egg instead of Sony's original shapes easter egg on the side plates.
Zack, usually braille is EMbossed not DEbossed, so I bet you could read it from the other side of the panel (backside) let us know if you tore it down again to read the message.
That’s super quality of build. I impressed of how sophisticated the build is. It’s just BEAUTIFUL
but aluminium chassis is trash and not comfortable to users hands, i prefer DELL XPS rubbery finish
@@trader2137 some time before I had Asus laptop with hard and thick polymer case, with some tech that make it feel like metal… was good.
But after using Apple product don’t want to get back to plastic. Metal, leather, wood, rock and glass is materials I enjoy to touch evry time.
@@ProGuitarUA im typing from MBP M1 Pro 16, and i find the aluminium edges are too sharp - like almost razor sharp, and often the aluminium feels cold and dry to the touch, its not comfortable to lay hands on it
now (after removing the adhesive stripes) the batteries will wobble!
It says "Help I am still a child in foxconn factory"
How about a durability test for the Apple Watch Ultra? I’d like to see if they’re using the same sapphire as they’re using for the camera lens of the iphones. Also, a comparison between the titanium case vs the normal Apple Watch anodized aluminium would be very nice.
Big thank you for not scratching the Aluminum Body. We might have different opinions about how good minimalistic designs looks, but it left your hands unharmed, that says something.
I was disappointed.
This is not a durability test.
What does the aluminum body leaving his hands unharmed say?
I was expecting another art lesson from Zach 😞
Must admit the durability tests stops me from watching a lot of his videos.
I greatly prefer the ones where he's building not destroying. Loving the EV Humvee lately :)
@@cyrilthefish Ah, then you should hate the EV Humvee.. since EV's destroy the planet.
"Because of course"😂😂
Some really good ASMR on battery removal there
I love how the good news and the bad news are completely the same
Love the multiple glue pulls 😂
@jerryrigeverything 07:00 is it a glitch in matrix?
Is it possible the braille is reversed?
Thats exactly what I thought, mebbe it needs to be read on they side they stand up on...
Your now being hunted by the usps for giving us all a great idea haha
5:10 Zack: "I do really love these things though!" Strange alien noises incoming.
It could be something similar to data matrix code, which machine can read to determine the part number or the manufacturing date.
Data Matrix is a lot more compact, not sure if that's what it is
Awesome job zack see you around
To answer your question, Zac - Apple has been doing the sombrero hat trick since at least 2016 revs. I just replaced the battery on my 2017 MBP and it's the same there, too. In fact it's surprising how similar the layout is to the new M1/M2s. It wasn't that way on the previous versions, likely because the PMU had the original magsafe (v. I & II) on a seperate PMU board and not integrated via USB-C/TB ports.
Jerry showing heaven to asmr lovers while pulling battery tabs all at once 😍😊
The text isn't braille (as far as I know) because there isn't a character that corresponds to two middle dots and obviously the character at the end/front with a line then a dot isn't braille either. It's probably a way for them to note something about the part.
Perhaps they didn't just print the information because they already were having a tool form the aluminum, so they might as well use that to also print the manufacturing info on the metal with the braille-like bumps.
"because of course"
The battery using a screw has been since 2016 from what I remember. Although using pull tabs is definitely new since the old ones where held with crazy adhesive with no tabs. If the keyboard needed replaced then the entire top case was replaced battery and all lol
it is new on macbook
my 2018 macbook don't have that
i know it is on ipads
@@tumo07 nah the 2018 had it
@@TacoNissan my mba 2018 still a connector not this pad thingy

7:02 I thought I was in a loop!! It caught me off guard lol open a petition to have Zack reading us "Apple's decline" book.
I screamed in traffic. “Those are f***ing phone batteries”.
I've found you not too long ago. Have you considered creating relaxation audios? You have the most soothing and relaxing voice.
It says "NOW WITH EXTRA UNREPAIRABILITY"
