This is a really useful comparison video. Would have been useful to see a comparison on the setting and accuracy of the GMT function as I've found that some are pretty useless. I love your lume comparison - how you go to close the curtain and then can't find the torch so you quickly revert to Plan B! And Plan B worked fine! Pure Gold, man! Couple of points: Did you know that the Lorier has a Roulette Date Wheel? (some dates are black, some are red and some are either blue or green - what a COOL feature). Also curious about how the Baltic being the strongest lume when you say that it has only C1 which is apparently the weakest there is. This is rather interesting. So have you run across the Cronos GMT and the San Martin GMT. Both feature packed and probably good bang for buck. This video was excellent - cheers man!
I came for the Baltic, I'm a big fan of Lorier too but the Aquascaphe is close to the top of my list, just stunning. It might be worth buying a decent demagnetiser to try on that Steinhart movement, they're only a few pounds, it's so far off I suspect it's been magnetised by an electronic device. It could save you some £ & be less of a faff. Nice comparison. Subbed.

Exactly. I love my gmt batman watch. The hands date at 6. I love everything about it. Plus everyone needs too realize people who don't know watches think anything is a rolex. If u like the watch buy it and wear it proudly.
Excellent comparison of these 3 watches, something I've wanted to know for ages! I have the same Steinhart and absolutely love it. That Baltic does look beautiful though, especially in the grey/mint bezel colourway. Definitely in the list.
I’ve had the 3 of them on my hands and my choice is the Lorier. The Steinhart is too toolish, good watch anyway. But looks too much like any cheap copy like Pagani. The Lorier and Baltic are basically finished at the same level but there is something more artistic about the Lorier ode to the old days. And being that the movement is the same, sapphire doesn’t justify the Baltic premium. The only reason why I don’t own the Lorier is because I’ll wait for a lighter dial to make the watch pop more like a 40mm on my wrist. I guess if the buyer prefers sapphire the Baltic may make sense.
Definitely agree about the equal finishing on the Lorier. And the great aesthetics, although more artistic isn’t exactly how I’d describe it, given it’s certainly more derivative than the Baltic. However, build quality and QC easily justify the added £200 on the Baltic. The Lorier’s bezel action is appalling, it’s colours are inconsistent, and its lume is veeery liberally applied. Plus, although it’s the same movement, Baltic regulate it to a higher degree. Couple that with the sapphire, fantastic bezel, and engraved case back on the Baltic and it’s not hard to see where the extra money goes. However, if you can ignore its deficiencies and prefer the Lorier’s aesthetics (or it’s fantastic bracelet), then it’s certainly it’s certainly the way to go for over £200 less.
@@watchthisspace5945 Just to give you an hint on the price you need to add for the sapphire, the group of component double domed glass + sapphire bezel cost on production more than an ETA2824 movement for example. Beleive me or not, it does count on the final price. And it does count on the durability of your watch too. 😉
Looks and price, Lorier. Practicality while still looking good and not being a straight up copy, Baltic. Best specs for price but basically an homage watch, Steinhart. Overall I’d pick the Baltic slightly over the Lorier only for the sapphire. If the Lorier had at least a different material like aluminum for the bezel and still had an acrylic crystal, I’d pick the Lorier. But acrylic for the bezel and crystal is just a scratch magnet unfortunately. At least you can polywatch it and Lorier replaces the crystal for pretty cheap. Not sure about the bezel’s acrylic.
I don't think it's correct to call these Rolex GMT homages. Each of them has their unique features/designs to allow them to be reviewed on their own merits.
Arguing over the semantics of the word homage really but Etienne at Baltic happily admits the watch was his version of a GMT Master, while Lauren and Lorenzo at Baltic actually list the GMT Master models that the Hyperion is based on. All three certainly are not copies at all, plenty of original design, in the Baltic particularly. But the Lorier and Steinhart especially are certainly paying homage to GMT masters to some degree. To me, watches designed to look all but identical to successful models (e.g. most other Steinharts) are copies, not homages like these three (not that I have any problem with well built copies). But that’s just how I interpret it, each to their own 🤷🏼♂️ I for sure agree all three deserve to be considered on their own merits, hence why I own all three!
I like all of them - even though the Steinhart doesn't *quite* fit in with the other two. I read a comment by the owner of either Baltic or Lorier (think it was the former, but not 100% sure) who singled out Steinhart as incredible value for money in a forum-post. So my guess would be that the 120 click, unidirectional bezels on all of their GMT-watches has got to be a price issue. In mass production, every deviation from a standard product will increase unit-cost - that's why Ford never offered any optional extras (or even choice of paint colours) for their Model T. It would only make sense to assume that having all their divers and GMTs share the same bezel mechanism results in lower prices across their diver-range. Even though I assume that the Swiss factory that makes these things for Steinhart could offer them true GMT bezels. I mean... this isn't rocket science.. :D All that said: I own the Vintage Pepsi GMT 39 (Pussy Galore) and while I don't really mind the dive-time nature of the bezel, I certainly would prefer a 24 or 48 click bidirectional one. The way it is, on some days, it feels to me like the watch is pretending to be something that it really isn't.
Yep, all of that is likely the main reason behind the bezel of course. Nevertheless, I would say again, if you’re giving a watch 500m of water resistance then it’s clearly meant to be worn as a dive watch... which inherently requires a unidirectional bezel.
I have the gmt and gmt vintage from steinhart and an Aquascaphe and Lorier Neptune III. I like them all but for the GMT my favorite is probably steinhart vintage gmt
#watchthisspace Non of those (as with many others including Rolex GMT watches) can, nor should be, classed as dive watches due to their bezels. Now the same can't be said for the Mido Ocean Star GMT! That is a true GMT and a true dive/timer watch.
True-ish to a point, although the Steinhart bezel is unidirectional, and that's all that's required to function as a dive time bezel - a countdown on the bezel isn't necessary. Also, as a practising Divemaster and research diver, I can tell you the only thing you need a mechanical watch for underwater is the same as on the surface, telling the time at a glance. The bezel for timing dives is completely obsolete, even as a backup really. My most commonly worn watch during work is a Sinn 556i, that should tell you all!
@@watchthisspace5945 Do the Steinhart GMT models have the quick set for the hour hand? Don't all their GMT models just have the 24H bezel? I thinks so. As for what you said regarding actual diving, I know where you're coming from, but, maybe I'm just an old seadog, but when I became a diver a good watch was your friend and I still hold that opinion and I know quite a few others like that.

620 poundo , plus 60 poundo , 500 plus poundo , 815 poundo plus 70 poundo . Lorier is sold with the bracelet as it should be. Who needs extra poundo's . Not me
Steinhart best on paper "Specs" really. Steinhart is just a copy not original . How is the Steinhart best spec's. Case finish poor ,3rd or last if you will. Bracelet last overall design a copy and looks like a cheap copy so last again. I have a Lorier Neptune it is a great watch at $400 bucks fantastic deal, the Lorier GMT great bracelet, great looks "subjective" lume very good, bezel who needs to twist the bezel . Bezel action yes give that to Baltic. Lorier has screws to attach the bracelet links and Everyone is always looking for screws in the bracelet Right. Customer service with Lorier is fantastic. Lorier give you a suede pouch to hold the watch in and a screw driver to adjust the bracelet, remember we all like screws Right. All this for $799 usd beat that , Baltic is $1200 usd. Like the look of one vs the other is subjective, but the overall #1 package goes to Lorier
I love Lorier. The Hyperion however is one of the most disappointing watches I’ve ever owned. That’s subjective. You’re also entitled to your opinion boss, I just hope it’s based on real world experience and you’ve actually seen the watch in person. Meanwhile, Sapphire Crystal vs plexiglass, AR coating vs none, Ceramic insert vs plexiglass, good lume vs poor (not subjective, just based on brightness), sapphire caseback with AR (although some won’t care), 500m water resistance vs 100m. Better specs, as I said. As for your points, I mention them in the video. Love the bracelet, love the screws, love the aesthetics (bar the greeny loom). Each to their own.

Clearly separated from reality. Not liking the Steinhart because they have Homage watches which to 500 GMT is clearly not is not really any reason to dislike the 500. Performance and value are clearly given to the Steinhart with the movement being king. You can hold the unidirectional bezel but that's about it. Design, accuracy, strap....Steinhart all the way. Baltic is a great watch with all of their other lines using Japanese movements - comw on pal. Credit where credit is do!
Sir you seem confused - or you didn't watch much of the video. These are all my watches, that I bought, and have no intention of selling, because I love all three, particularly the Steinhart. Throughout the video I give the Steinhart full credit as easily the best value for money if you look at specs. I wear it very often, it's been on over 100 scuba dives with me in the last year. As I also state in the video, my Steinhart movement is faulty, running +80 secs a day, its finishing is very poor for the price, and its clasp is the identical stock part clasp you will find on watches worth a quarter of the price - they are the tradeoffs for its fantastic specs list. I prefer the Baltic by some margin - an opinion based upon purchasing, wearing, and loving all three watches for months - I would hope you've had similar experience with the watches before drawing such confident conclusions. The 'reality' is that it is only my opinion, and this is a hobby of opinions.
I also state that I do not see the GMT 500 as a homage in the sense commonly used amongst watch enthusiasts (which encompasses direct copies, as many Steinharts are). I see it, like the Lorier, as paying homage to GMT masters, whilst incorporating plenty of its own design features. My only point was that is it, and the Lorier, are both certainly more derivative designs than the Baltic, which some may (and will) see as a negative. There can be no doubting what watch the GMT 500s design is based on, but it did not stop me spending plenty of money on it and wearing it regularly.

Nice vid, thanks! I went for the Laurie and the subdued bezel color was one of the factors I went for it. All personal preference I guess.

Parnis GMT PD 1662. At just under 100 USD with an automatic movement, you can’t go wrong.
