THE BEST AUTOMATIC WATCH BELOW £2000? - The Monta Atlas GMT Unboxing & Review
Просмотров 6 тыс.3 года назад
Quite possibly the best entry-level luxury watch on the market, certainly in terms of finishing. My review of the Monta Atlas GMT (Charcoal Dial). Monta - a US brand who’s watches are assembled in Switzerland - are becoming synonymous with high level case finishing at lower end luxury prices. Please do leave your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!

Hahaha Chinese dropshipping watch.
Thanks for the video.
Don't put yourself down pal, I enjoyed your video. Keep posting!
I wonder that this watch is called a hommage to a 2013! watch from Rolex. Thats when rolex managed the first ceramic gmt bezel. Steinhart is in the game since 2001
too damn thick!
Good comparison!!
Assomigliante al mio etairos diver watchs
Steinex is great. Dig mine.
They really did a great job with this. Drilled lugs, uncluttered dial, 6 O'clock date, domed vintage vibe crystals. The case back is a nice touch as well.
I recently bought this watch Can you let me know how to change the date
I have a Triumph from 2018. I had similar issues of not connecting with it on the bracelet. Put it on a high quality shell cordavan strap. Looks and feels far superior. Now I wear it daily. Thank you very much for the video.
Blasphemous
Nice vid, thanks! I went for the Laurie and the subdued bezel color was one of the factors I went for it. All personal preference I guess.
It’s very nice but the best watch under 2k is the Ginault Silent Service.
I've had the Atlas over a year and the watch is finished fantastically but the clasp is just too long it scratches the last link and is uncomfortable on my wrist, so I rarely wear it.
Can I ask what is your wrist size??
@@LittleBigPoet 7.25 inches
Agree, The bezel movement on Lorier and Baltic GMT is awful. At least if you are used to Rolex, Omega or even a Seiko. Shocked how bad. I’m rooting for them though. Hoping they improve some with their upcoming refresh.
This Baltic GMT has a unquie look, balance design, totally different with the other. So impressive! Love it
I hope its better than the Noble...I just received my Monta Noble today. I was eager to open it and try it on. Then was a bit disappointed, the watch is pretty small and light and has a cheap feel about it. The band is very flimsy and feels cheap and the case itself is so so but definitely doesn't warrant all the hype. The micro adjustments on the band slip, so when you adjust them and wear the watch then take it off they slip back out and you have to adjust it again before you wear it. Also the power reserve is only a few hours, I can wear it all day then take it off before bed and in the morning it has stopped and I have to re-set it. Over all its probably on par with your average run of the mill everyday watch you can buy at one of those kiosks in the middle of the mall. It's nothing special and definitely not worth the price point.
🔥🔥🔥 Great honest review. I see ppl reviewing models with the colored ring that us 360° orange, but the only models I can find for sale have only a 90° orange section, with 360 color appearing on other colorways. Anyone know what's up with that?
The full 360 is the original 1970 release limited to 1970 pieces, when they sold out they made a new release with the quarter orange colour again limited to 1970’pieces
@@apb3251 👍 Appreciate your response. That's what I had sorta read between the lines. The other colors available with the full colored bezel just don't really move me. Powder blue...🤷🏼 I guess I should move on the orange before it, too, sells out
@@hgr.7857 agreed I felt the same. As soon as the orange 360 sold out I regretted it. I have the 1939 which is a great watch. I don’t recall if the 360 orange was available in a 40mm with no date (which is my preference) vs the the other options, so the newer release is still a consideration for me.
@@apb3251 I cocncur. Since I started sweating this DH 1970, I've got myself a black & orange Seiko super compressor (SRPB31, for about the same price) to satisfy the urge. Now getting the very similar black/orange DH seems kind of silly. But only kind of... This watch addiction is serious. I wish the DH 1970 came in a Pepsi colorways. Anything besides that lame blue/white or lazy grey/black. The black/orange is the only one worth getting but damn! That'd be redundant for me now... 🤷🏼
Hi. Is the bottom crown on num. 4 position screw Down? Or you just pull IT Up?
This watch is no way near an homage, its totally different from the Rolex on the dial, Seiko do a blue and black bezel diver but they don't call that an homage. Put them next to each other and you will see a huge difference between the Steinhart and the Rolex.
Everyone is entitled to they're own opinion and what definitions they wish to believe. In my opinion I respectfully beg to disagree with yours. I believe that to copy is the highest form of homage. As long as you are not putting another companies name on your watch trying to make sales under someone else's name (fakes, replicas, counterfeits) I have no problem with watches that are "close copies" like so many other Steinharts are. Otherwise I agree with the rest of your review, very well done, thumbs up given!
Good review, but I hope you realize it's not fair to look at something on a macbook retna display and then compare it to something in real life, I hope you don't go on tinder and see a bunch of beatuiful girls on your laptop because they won't look like that in real life at all. The way the colors on a watch looks depends entirely on your monitor color settings, this is why you should look at the watch in real life and not blindly buy off the internet.
Gotta be 40mm at a minimum
Still available?
Bought one, love it and my bezel rotates easily.
People like this have a buying problem and other issues of unrealistic expectation from a 1k $ watch !! I guess he's never gonna be happy 😂 Truly 1st world problems! 1k miles away children are dying of cold in the frozen forest!
How much does the watch weigh (including bracelet)?
Shhhhhhhhhteinhart. It is how it's pronounced
Neptune disappointed me big time. Fit me like a flat dish and large protruding crown dug into upper hand. Dot Markers overfilled, reminded me of bug eyes. Crystal glare and distortion. Take a good look at the long long straight lugs which added to dish pan flat on wrist. A big time YT guy gushed over the Neptune.
Looks and price, Lorier. Practicality while still looking good and not being a straight up copy, Baltic. Best specs for price but basically an homage watch, Steinhart. Overall I’d pick the Baltic slightly over the Lorier only for the sapphire. If the Lorier had at least a different material like aluminum for the bezel and still had an acrylic crystal, I’d pick the Lorier. But acrylic for the bezel and crystal is just a scratch magnet unfortunately. At least you can polywatch it and Lorier replaces the crystal for pretty cheap. Not sure about the bezel’s acrylic.
Thanks for the review. Interesting watch, I love the features but the styling just doesn't do anything for me. I only recently discovered your channel but I'm glad I did because you have very similar taste in watches to me. Have you looked at the Farer GMTs? Seriously considering picking one up.
I've watched a few video reviews of this watch, and no one else seemed to have anything negative to say about the bezel again.....they seemed to turn without difficulty. Wouldn't it be worth checking in with Lorier about a fix under warranty? I am pretty sure the colors would totally with for me..... I don't even like a normal Pepsi bezel and wouldn't want to own one.
Are the indicators applied or painted? thnx for realistic review. . . :>/
620 poundo , plus 60 poundo , 500 plus poundo , 815 poundo plus 70 poundo . Lorier is sold with the bracelet as it should be. Who needs extra poundo's . Not me
No one is looking for time zones on the back of any watch again come on.
Who is using any of those watches for diving come on !
Me mate. HSE scientific diver and DM on the weekends. Steinhart saw quite a few dives back when I had it
Steinhart best on paper "Specs" really. Steinhart is just a copy not original . How is the Steinhart best spec's. Case finish poor ,3rd or last if you will. Bracelet last overall design a copy and looks like a cheap copy so last again. I have a Lorier Neptune it is a great watch at $400 bucks fantastic deal, the Lorier GMT great bracelet, great looks "subjective" lume very good, bezel who needs to twist the bezel . Bezel action yes give that to Baltic. Lorier has screws to attach the bracelet links and Everyone is always looking for screws in the bracelet Right. Customer service with Lorier is fantastic. Lorier give you a suede pouch to hold the watch in and a screw driver to adjust the bracelet, remember we all like screws Right. All this for $799 usd beat that , Baltic is $1200 usd. Like the look of one vs the other is subjective, but the overall #1 package goes to Lorier
I love Lorier. The Hyperion however is one of the most disappointing watches I’ve ever owned. That’s subjective. You’re also entitled to your opinion boss, I just hope it’s based on real world experience and you’ve actually seen the watch in person. Meanwhile, Sapphire Crystal vs plexiglass, AR coating vs none, Ceramic insert vs plexiglass, good lume vs poor (not subjective, just based on brightness), sapphire caseback with AR (although some won’t care), 500m water resistance vs 100m. Better specs, as I said. As for your points, I mention them in the video. Love the bracelet, love the screws, love the aesthetics (bar the greeny loom). Each to their own.
@@watchthisspace5945 can I just say plexiglass doesn’t need AR. So that a weird comparison. Also, diving with a GMT doesn’t make sense.
I will get a Spinnaker Bradner instead for the same price and way better value, amazing crystal, distortion, dial and finishes. And for the Dan Henry….Just the mineral crystal, no see through case back and painted indexes for that price??? Someone is making good margin….Sure, I pass!
I’d point out that an exhibition caseback is not necessarily any cheaper than a deeply engraved one - and you’ll be sorely disappointed if you ever buy a Rolex/Tudor! You can buy sapphire casebacks aftermarket for very little, they aren’t costly. But otherwise, I absolutely agree with you.
I also like the spinnaker bradner more than the DH but sadly my wrist is just 6.5 inches so I guess the spinnaker will look too big considering its 42mm diameter, 50mm lug to lug and 15 mm thickness. the DH 40mm would be a better option for me.
Top notch video _ you pointed out some helpful things _ i like the subtle look, best specs, best finish Lorier; but they have to do much better on that bezel for me to keep it, as i am okay without a sapphire crystal, thnx. . . :>/
Thanks for your review, helped alot for me!
It is an ETA
#watchthisspace Non of those (as with many others including Rolex GMT watches) can, nor should be, classed as dive watches due to their bezels. Now the same can't be said for the Mido Ocean Star GMT! That is a true GMT and a true dive/timer watch.
True-ish to a point, although the Steinhart bezel is unidirectional, and that's all that's required to function as a dive time bezel - a countdown on the bezel isn't necessary. Also, as a practising Divemaster and research diver, I can tell you the only thing you need a mechanical watch for underwater is the same as on the surface, telling the time at a glance. The bezel for timing dives is completely obsolete, even as a backup really. My most commonly worn watch during work is a Sinn 556i, that should tell you all!
@@watchthisspace5945 Do the Steinhart GMT models have the quick set for the hour hand? Don't all their GMT models just have the 24H bezel? I thinks so. As for what you said regarding actual diving, I know where you're coming from, but, maybe I'm just an old seadog, but when I became a diver a good watch was your friend and I still hold that opinion and I know quite a few others like that.
Nice review. If the rubber strap bugged you, it could be replaced... 😊
could care less COULD NOT care less! Short but very good detail in this video thank you
Any chance for a longer term review of this watch if you still have it?
Maybe sometime quite soon mate, still very much in the collection and loving it!
Nice collection I just sub for u
Could you test wether the bracelet of the Baltic fits the Lorier
Sorry pal I've since sold the Lorier
There not copy’s the cases are different
Aware of that, as mentioned in the review I believe. But copying every feature and putting them in a barely noticeably different case doesn't exactly equal originality does it. Just google image search the ocean 1 vs submariner... it's not fooling anyone. It's not a fake by any means, but it's certainly a direct copy in practically every aspect bar the case and brand name. Nothing wrong with that, all that said, its copying a watch that is unattainable for most. But most Steinharts do not generally 'pay homage' to Rolex designs, they rip them off, that is undeniable. Again, nothing wrong with that, I own two now.
No but I love being able too but a stein when I know I’ll never be able too have a Rolex I love my hulk Steinhart
How is the delivery to the UK? Do you have to pay a lot of tax for it? I want one but I am not sure of paying too much for tax.
I’m afraid you probably will yes. I bought this whilst living in Florida, so did not have to worry at the time. The last US watch I bought from the UK (Lorier Hyperion) came with a surprise tax of well over £100.
Both my Steinharts have screwed links
