@BarkandJack's Baltic Aquascaphe GMT Review: • Introducing: Baltic Aq...
Thanks to affordable, tastefully-designed models like the HMS, Bicompax, and Aquascaphe, Baltic is one of the microbrand scene's best-loved brands. Baltic's newest release, the Aquascaphe GMT, is the brand's most expensive watch thus far and the first to include a Swiss caliber in the form of the Soprod C125. In this video, I'll do a complete review of the Aquascaphe GMT to see how it stacks up in an increasingly-crowded microbrand space and at a popular price point.

Baltic has been killing it lately. The Aquascaphe made me take a second look at all of their watches and I like what I see.
Watched this channel for a long time. Very very informative. I like the simplicity and transparency and no BS review. It’s definitely a really good place to get a good opinion on time pieces.
Thanks for demonstrating the difference between the higher end GMT movements and this one, really makes a difference for usability when traveling!
I appreciate any GMT reviews. It’s probably the most useful complication on a wristwatch. Great review!
Beautiful watch! I just bought my first GMT. The Rotary Henley. Not everybody's cup of tea, because of the quartz movement, but for $200 it looks great, and I had nothing to lose!
Thanks for finally explaining the difference between the quick 12h setting versus the 24h one. I kept reading explanations but this can be hardly explained in words!
Great review here, Teddy! I have the blue/gilt Baltic Aquascaphe and have been really enjoying especially since I picked up a grey cordurra and a brown leather strap from you. Mine has the miyota and runs +2 sec per day also. I get more looks and compliments on the Baltic than I do with my Omega Seamaster PO! This GMT is quite cool also.
Nice review Teddy. I really like your content, detail, and video quality.
Vintage design tick✅
GMT Beauty at its best ✅
Ideal size for small wrists ✅
I don’t see a single box that this watch doesn’t tick for me. Great execution BALTIC 👏 👏 👏 and thank you Teddy for another great review.
Bought the Baltic Aquascaphe dive watch and couldn't be happier, these guys know style. I liked it so much it's surplanted my 26 year old every day SKX Seiko and that's saying something!
another good video! Just curious would you be able to make a video on Pelton? more specifically the Perseus. Keep up the great work! Your video's have helped me during this pandemic
Thanks Teddy. Nice to see the lumed bezel, hoping more brands across the board do this on a consistent basis going forward. 👍⌚
Great review and love the watch. My only problem is I don’t love the beads of rice bracelet, but would want it on a bracelet.
Do you think other bracelets would fit snug for a seamless look? Thanks!
Nice review. Good to see a GMT watch with reasonable dimensions.
Just picked the orange version up. Initial impressions are positive. Thanks for the video. €1000 on the bracelet is under $1000 these days with the conversion rates! Definitely a great deal now.
Do Farer! I love the GMT and new white dial pilot. Have both
Beutifull watch Teddy.. Thanks for showing the difference between the office and traveller style gmt.. The ball roadmaster pilot gmt is possibly the most practical traveller gmt, you can jump the local hour hand back and forward, but it also has quick date set, I could be wrong, but I think this is the only traveller gmt with quick date set... Its cosc certified as well...
I love this watch and may consider it. Great review for a watch I would have never considered
It’s a good Sunday morning when teddy posts!
Thanks for watching Henry!
Yeah I’m getting into his videos because he’s not arrogant and will give an honest chance to any watch. There are some real jerks in the watch reviewing community
Hey Teddy what do you think of Certinas DS diver 38mm?
Over a year later of this video posting. This video Helped me decide on getting this piece. Thank you Teddy
Teddy what do you think about the micro brand MIDO, I'm quite interested in some of their divers.
Hi Teddy,
I really like your videos a lot.
Requesting your opinion on Titoni Watches from Switzerland. They seem to be a Microbrand using Sellita and ETA movements.
I am getting a very good deal on the airmaster series (brand new) for less than $500. Please advise if it makes sense to get one.
Thanks
Wow, this is beautiful especially the Baltic Bicompax! This is my 1st time seeing this brand :) Any recommendations for moon phase watches that are under $5000?
I love Baltic. My favorite watch is the Aquascaphe in blue gilt. Gorgeous.
I have a Soprod A10 in my Steinhart Ocean One Vintage Premium GMT. Its been a great warch, reliable, accurate, and rather attractive through the caseback.
Would love a comparison of worldtimers please :) Thanks for the vids!
Very easy to navigate website teddy 👍🏻 A couple of suggestions though,
1. Searching by price range sometimes shows watches outside price range.
2. Needs a filter to exclude out of stock watches. (E.g zelos 😍 😪)
3. Searching for Tissot shows zero results but tissot works. I guess searches are case sensitive.
Pretty looking watch. The question is if I could find a more pretty one for that price? Or more value for the money?
As usual, love your content.
Hey Teddy, I'm pretty new here but love your content and you have been a big influencer in getting me into watches. I would love to see maybe a 2021 collection update. Keep up the great videos!
Have you done a review on the Seiko release of the homage to their first diver? They have 3 in the 1000-1200 price and then 3 in the 4500+. Im saving for the SPB147.
Love Baltics. Please review the Bicompax 002 white dial! 🙏🙏🙏
Bought the blue Aquascaphe classic recently. Totally in love with it. I had my eyes on some Oris watches and the bronze Tudor Heritage, the Zenith Sport Chrono... Nope, I am done. I found my end game and it was much cheaper than expected. This watch killed my hobby because there is no other watch I would prefer to see on my wrist.
Thank you for sharing this - I have bought the blue one as well and waiting for its Delviery.
I've just received my notification that my blue aquascaphe is "out for delivery", I'm literally like a kid waiting for Santa here!
@@meremortal congratulations is it the titanium ? Limited edition ?
@@mazharbang Just the normal one mate :) , honestly I think it's the best looking one of the lot and when the wife agreed I had little choice :D
@@meremortal perfect I have bought the limited edition one and it’s an amazing watch …. You will love it … welcome to the group may8
I know these videos take a while, but it might be interesting in future, when showing the lume, to perhaps also show the lume after 20 minutes and 40 minutes or whatever times you think are relevant. I think Just One More Watch does this which I like. What stopped me pulling the trigger on a Doxa sub 200 for example was the notoriously bad lume!
ETA is now making the C07.661 caliber with the independent local hour hand. Can be had in simple Certina watches, all the way to the Mido Ocean Star GMT. Only problem is I haven't found one of these watches with an independently moving 24h bezel instead of a timing bezel.
Hello, are you able to do a review about glycine? And maybe the special drop version with the glycine combat sub GMT COFFEE.? I'm wondering what your reaction is about this kind of watch. Thank you!
Excellent review, as always. It may be worth mentioning that Baltic came out with a very strong commitment to resolving the issue of the erroneous caseback. I think it's posted as part of a Hondikee review.
What was the error?
@@GeorgeFrideric71 Something to do with a couple of the countries and their time zones or maybe GMT marked incorrectly. Here's the article: www.hodinkee.com/articles/baltic-aquascaphe-gmt-hands-on
@@chago062010 ah. OK. Thank you for that!
I have the green version Teddy. I just received the corrected case back. They also gifted a black strap and a tool to remove the lug pins. This is my first Baltic and I really like it. The watch came regulated pretty good, 3-4 seconds off per day. But I regulated to 1-2 seconds per day. I think they nailed the case size, design, dial, etc. No complaints. I was hesitant about the price. But pulled the trigger on this and a Sinn 105 day/date, white dial. Love it! Both the Sinn and the Baltic are keepers. Cheers.
How are you enjoying the green?? Im torn between getting the blue or green!
@@hu2mberto go with green
I find myself really wanting the blue green bezel version as well. Still worth it in 2023?
Yet more quality content from Teddy, thank you sir. This is fantastic looking piece from Baltic. Of the colour variants we will have to differ in our choices............I much prefer the minty green/blue bezel, with the orange/blue one coming in a close second, the grey/blue would be a very distant third. Great specs, design cues and wearability to be had here. I have just pre-ordered the new HMS02 with the Miyota 8315, which will hopefully be shipped next month. I really love the sector dial, which has a clean, uncluttered design. IMHO it looks tidier than the Longines. Although very classy, Longines has a grossly oversized seconds subdial, which unbalances the whole look of that particular watch.
I have always dreamed of owning a blancpain 50 fathoms.such history and truly gorgeous, now I feel baltic has my awnser.not the desk diver featured in this video but the other 200m pieces. I'm saving up for a baltic diver that will be MY 50 fathoms. Baltic did/doing a great job with their watches finish and top quality control.
...cheers!! happy diving!!
Nice watch indeed and good size, what's with all those huge watches... , curious for how much money I can buy one used in some months.
Baltic gmt or farer gmt??? Wich one has better quality?? Greetings from Spain
My orange version is fantastic, running
Baltic GMT or Maurice Lacroix Aikon Venturer GMT? Which one would you guys choose?
Good job calling out the thickness. Everyone else seems to give them a pass on their claimed 12mm!
One of the best looking GMT watch.
This watch is so much Rado Captain Cook inspired. What would you choose @Teddy if you had to choose between this Baltic and Rado Captain Cook ?
What do you think of gervil watches?
Is this on sale on your website Teddy?
Baltic is a great brand. Yes it might be a little bit pricey, but their watches are finished impeccably and are of great quality. I am looking forward to see their pure classic watches if they plan on launching one. Their brand stands out on its own because so far their design is quite unique on their own. The longer i own my Aquascaphe, the more i love it. This is their allure.
Where can you buy one of these watches and is there a showroom or boutique that carry this brand in the states
Woweee I really dig the hour markers on Baltic watches
Very nice watch my favourite type of case and bracelet , this company makes some good looking timepieces .
Teddy do you have a store front I'm relatively close I'd like to visit ?
Hey Teddy, I’m loving the channel. I just started into this watch collecting hobby and wanted to get something nice. What’s your take on the Tissot Chemin des Tourelles for around $1000 dollars?
Please do a video on HMT watches or HMT janatha or kanchana or pilot
I'm going to get this watch but can't decide between the blue/green bezel or the blue/grey!! .. I feel the blue grey is easier to match with whatever you wear but think that a gmt is color in two colors as the original rolex gmt pepsi....
i love my zelos horizons gmt 2 in midnight blue. this one feels similar
Please have a look at the Seiko save the ocean manta ray edition SRPE33K1, best looking I've ever seen!!
Hey Teddy, If you are looking into microbrands, this fellow midwesterner is curious of your opinion of shinola. Would love to see that video, and wondering if your opinion has changed since they were left off your "cool american watch companies" video from a few years ago.
Another excellent video, Teddy... Thank you! Quick plug for one of my favourite watches: not all true GMT watches cost $4000 and above. The Christopher Ward C65 Trident, featuring a Sellita SW330, is a true GMT at a similar price to the Baltic. The CW is the ultimate everyday watch, in my opinion.
They make nice looking watches but I just cannot get past the “Christopher Ward” text on the dial. It’s a dealbreaker for me. Even if they used “CW” I would have no problem. Given how many people have this same issue I don’t know why they persist. The only thing I can think of is that Christopher Ward is some kind of narcissist.
@@stuartcole4845 I find it a pity that they no longer have their full name at 9 on all their watches. I actually like the quirkiness ... so British 😀. There are so many mainstream watches out there and there has to be something for the niche crowd.
Thats a beautiful looking watch.
Last comment - there are a lot of great images of the watch in this video, but one thing I think is lacking in the watch scene is shots on the wrist but not just of the wrist - for example there is a shot on the wrist late into this video. I wish I could remember the channel, I think it was a very small one that would for example have shots from the side of someone's torso with the watch on, or checking the time etc from the front, a tighter cut than with their head in necessarily. Maybe sitting at a table holding/raising a book or something (I understand the demands of time with such things for setting up lights/angles focus etc). I think channel You're Terrific also does this well if I remember correctly but the other one I am thinking of that I sadly cannot remember was even better than this. Even with your standing studio shot where you are talking if you stood on a box and cropped the shot or something that might be enough to save moving equipment around too much... food for thought perhaps.
Love the videos
It's such a beautiful watch I love ether design and I'm already consider it though there is ORIS the has some watches around that price range used and it is a bigger brand with a better movement but it will not change my mind I'm really looking for a watch that is 39mm or less with the GMT function.
I am so impressed with the Baltic Watches and bought the Aquascape which goes beyond just pleasurable. Can you do a video on their
“Factory?”
I'd like that myself.
Is there crack/chip in the Sapphire Bezel inset at the "4" marker during the macro rotation shots?
it looks like the tail of the number 4 being refracted by the edge of the sapphire overlay part of the insert
I have a suggestion for s future show. Please do a show on Corum watches; especially the Corum Coin watches. What is the history? Do they breakdown? Why are used Corum Coin watches so expensive? I must admit I am fascinated by them. Thanks.
Anyone know what kind of glasses Teddy has?
Great video
I want the non-gmt black/cream version of this watch so bad. Probably will be the next one I get in a few years.
I feel a lot better now for ordering the exact same watch.
Beautiful watch!
Serica 4512. My first mechanical watch.
Maybe a bit pricy, but such a good looking watch and so far Baltic seems to uphold the quality promise.
Teddy-You may have covered this but I would love to see a video of the best way to get rid of watches you don't want anymore. My taste and knowledge has changed so much that I'm stuck with 10-12 watches I just won't ever wear again.
I did do a video on how to sell your watches which might be helpful. I think the process you go with will depend mostly on the price of watches themselves. For my more affordable stuff I always threw them up on eBay.
Look at the Baume Et Mercier Baumatic COSC, Longines Spirit 40mm, and take another look at Doxa.
Beautiful watch, but it seems that the date in the date window is not fully centred. Seen this in other videos and images as well which is why I will never end up buying one.
I love my Baltic it's a good watch
Please do a review on the Lorier Hyperion!
The Lorier, is a less expensive, thinner, standard bracelet GMT with the exact same C125 movement. Much better watch than this Baltic, IMO. Good suggestion.
@@Nefville I've been interested in both of them , I agree with you I think I'd buy the Lorier before buying the Baltic ⌚
Saw this video, and was immediately about to post this exact comment xD Cheers!
@@Nefville Sorry but I would wholeheartedly disagree on that statement. Lorier..........the home of really ugly handsets! A real shame, as the rest of the components of their offerings look really cool.
One of the most affordable and attractive gmts out there.
Well, the true GMT is for when you're travelling, this (a caller's GMT) is for when you aren't travelling, but want to track other timezones.
Baltic killed it on this one! Happy they went with no crown guards, but the lumed bezel is a little too thin
Bezels were thin back then !
Can't decide which color to go for. I like that they didn't go with red.
I used to laugh when people talked about love at first sight, and here iam now falling for each and every watch .. admiring its beauty and getting urge to have one for me!
10:20 I cannot unsee the bent glasses
Review the lorier Hyperion! Same movement , cheaper and better looking imo
is the Giveaway US only?
I accidentally bought an aquascaphe last week (long story) and it's gorgeous.
I can either get this, or get a spot in line for a Rolex Datejust. hmmm
I wish it was just a little bigger. 41/42 is the sweet spot for my 7.5” wrist.
Where can I buy this? Please help me… I really want one 😎🔥
Since "there's a lot of crap out there", you should do a list of specific microbrands to avoid.
Perhaps I'm being slow, but it seems like Baltic could have just put the local hour hand where the GMT hand goes, right? Wouldn't that produce the same functionality as the Explorer?
Swooping the hands wouldn't be any good, the gmt hand only goes around the dial once every 24 hours, where as the local hour hand goes round twice..
That is an insane giveaway! I hope you are actually making some profit for yourself somewhere!
You seem to be avoiding certain brands is because your a dealer I mean wise quality control and materials and customer service is top notch I’m sure you heard of them right?
I could be wrong in this case, but I don't think the seconds hack "stops the balance". It just stops the second hand from moving. I think you need to correct that. Setting the time, in any complication, does not stop the balance from moving. You probably know that, but just used a poor choice of words.
Just did my 5 picks for under 5k collection...I tried to balance it real hard to find a solid chrono under 1500 but I did it like a champ..🤞
Did you go for the Tissot Chrono? 👍
@@stuartcole4845 no it was a month ago I think I took a gshock for chrono I picked a tissot for dress watch I believe...I cant remember but the chronos were outta budget
Yea probably so..was it a mechanical chrono because I looked a little...I thought if I gotta get a quartz chrono might as well do God Tier Watch lol...but I think I chose a well balanced collection and the drawing was random...o well it was fun
Cleveland has a time zone???
Baltic watches are outstanding. It may only have a Miyota movement but my Aquascaphe only lost 5 seconds over 2 months!
I see this video was posted 3 years ago, is this still a good watch today @Teddy?
I have the blue gilt Aquascaphe on the beads of rice bracelet and absolutely love it.
i own a blue aquascaphe & it gets more wrist time than most of my other watches (Rolex's included). I find myself staring at the dial alot
A nongmt? I can’t decide between the blue gilt and black and cream
