    Just heard of this microbrand today, late in 2023! I've been lusting after all the GMT models available now, and noticed that this one too now is available with the Miyota 9075... I don't know if I can wait until next year, I might have to pull the trigger and get this one! I love the historical appeal and like that it isn't a direct homage to anything.

    • @thebestoffools
      @thebestoffools 9 месяцев назад +1

      Do you think the new Miyota movement is an improvement to the Swiss movement it came with in the first generation? I'm not sure why Lorier did the change.

    • @peakrider4886
      @peakrider4886 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@thebestoffoolsthere are pros and cons. The Soprod movement is Swiss, based on an ETA, it should be reliable and has bi-directional winding on the rotor. But it is a caller GMT rather than a travellers GMT. The Miyota is equally as robust and reliable, but Japanese, but it has that true GMT function of setting the hour hand and the GMT hand is a slave to the movement, whereas the Soprod the GMT hand is the one that can be independently set. Also with the Miyota you get a bit more noise from the rotor spinning. Honestly though, I’ve had my Neptune for 4 years with the Miyota movement and you don’t notice it whilst wearing it.

    • @peakrider4886
      @peakrider4886 6 месяцев назад

      @@thebestoffoolsplus they have been able to bring the price down by going to the Miyota. The Hyperion was originally $899 with the Soprod movement, changing to Miyota means consistency across all the different models, and they could bring the price down to $599. I think it was a really good move by Lorier and it is definitely a superior movement to the Seiko NH34 that so many other brands use.

  • @mr.b9871

    After watching your video on the Hyperion, I started searching for more reviews in it. Your views intrigued me. First the subdued bezel colors stood out. I'm not a fan of the bold pepsi colors so this was very appealing. I signed up to buy one and waited...and waited...and , well, you know. When it arrived, there was a small issue. I contacted them and it was resolved right away, no questions asked (AMAZING). I have wore it several days now and it only gains 1 second per day when setting it to my Casio Protrex that updates every night. So this is a remarkable piece! On top of all you said, which is all spot on, to have that level of accuracy right out of the box is nothing short of outstanding. I'll be coming back to Lorier to expand my collection. Happy customer!

    TRISTANO! Great review, as always. Re the SOPROD A10 - this is actually A SEIKO Design, licensed from Seiko, NOT an ETA "based" movement. The giveaway is in the Architecture. When you showed the MacroShot of the movement, the regulation mechanism is Classic Seiko 7S, 7R design, with a regulation-tab. The ETA had a screw & you actually have to remove the Rotor & the Automatic Work in order to regulate the Watch. Also when you adjust the GMT hand on this, it is a smooth sweep, as opposed to the "Jumping" increments of the ETA. I have read Blogs about alignment issues of the GMT hand with the Soprod. Steinhart used it on one of their "Vintage" GMT models, but ditched it after complaints about alignment issues. But " The Proof of the Pudding is in the Eating" as they say! Wear it & see. CHEERS! Take care & stay safe!

    • @theurbangentry

      Thank you Bruce, so interesting, I am glad I didn't make that mistake, the resemblance to the ETA I mentioned is uncanny however. You are so right, the proof is indeed in the pudding. I had no idea about Steinhart using it, excellent comment.

    Hi TGV. Another brilliant review, I always love your intros, this one especially as I'm a huge Steve McQueen fan. I've been a follower of Lorier ever since you first reviewed the Neptune, but I waited until last year to get mine, and I think the 3rd iteration is probably the best. I went for the classic black and white version, and it will certainly be a keeper for the rest of my days. One addition I would say for anyone thinking about Lorier, is their customer service is second to none. I emailed a question to them about my order for the Neptune, and I received a personal response back from Lauren within hours (UK to USA time difference and all). For me that's such a bonus, Lauren and Lorenzo are watch fans, and they create watches for enthusiasts, hence the plexiglass crystal. It might be everyone's taste, but if we all loved the same things, it would be a very boring world to live in. Take care and stay safe, Richard in sunny Cornwall!

    I purchased the Neptune last year. With no hesitation, it has set the standard in what a micro brand can do.
    The construction and quality of the bracelet alone, is a joy to behold. The ability to create a vintage inspired watch that feels modern is credit to the band, combine this with the forward thinking and classy minutia it really is worth investigating Lorier.

I would think you need something that stand up to exposure to concrete, which is both abrasive and alkaline. (E.g., it is caustic and can burn.)

    I love a box crystal. My Zodiac Super Seawolf has a sort of box, but it's actually more of a dome crystal. I'm having it replaced with an acrylic box; sapphire "box" crystals make me think of those cheesy vinyl tops they used to put on '70s cars to give a phony convertible look to them. On a dive watch, acrylic actually works as a box crystal should, by spreading the weight of the water outward and it is stronger than sapphire, which, these days, is no longer an expensive feature anyway for those watch snobs out there. Someone in these comments section once said something that made me think: what's the point in having, eventually, a scratched up used watch with a brand new shiny looking crystal anyway?

This particular watch is an instant classic, in my admittedly watch-dilatant's opinion.

    They actually describe the blue on the bezel as "Air Force Blue". It's actually is the same color of the Air Force dress uniform I wore when I was in service. I've had my eye on this one for a long time. It's a gorgeous piece. Amazing review as always!

    Your videos are always so thorough and well done. Thank you for taking the time to make all these. For me, I’m really hoping a coke bezel with silver hands in the near future.

    It's the first Soprod I see in a watch review.
    It's a evolution of the Seiko 4L25

    I love GMT complication, own 2 of them myself. I love the vintage look and especially with gilt colors. My only negative is a huge lug to lug considering the 38.5 mm case size, almost a 48 mm lug to lug actually makes this watch wear like a 42 mm. Also lug tips are too pointy and not following the wrist shape, it will be an issue for those with smaller wrist. Wouldn't buy it before I try it, at least that is my opinion.

    A real competitor in this hot affordable gmt segment. Not a personal fan of Pepsi, but if they release coke, batman or black colour-ways I will default pick it up.

    I had the Neptune lll , loved it but was too small for my larger wrist. Sold at a loss. Love this but I know it's too small.

      Sorry to hear that Mike, I am glad I addressed the size issue in the Negatives section, even more so when I read your comment. If I may, what size would you prefer?
      Thank you,

    There are several swiss made GMT watches for this price or less and obviously I would say they may overprice it a bit here. But I could say the same thing about my Version 2 Neptune. I trusted TGV's reviews he'd done on the first version. It's almost 2 years ago that I received it and it's truly one of my favorite watches. Very well made, the bracelet, I mean, THE bracelet! 😁 Seriously this is the best you can get on a watch for under 1000$. I love the brand, love their style, love the acrylic cristal and everytime they release a new model it's an improvement and shows how much Lauren and Lorenzo care about their watches. Great review as always!

    the duel color is the real attraction. To me, it is the buying reason. Subtle, classic. This is on my shortlist. I have the Marathon Diver Arctic 41mm coming next week. I can't wait to get this watch after. Currently, I have the Galaxy Active 2 smartwatch, Seiko Chronograph Analog Digital Alarm Gold Watch with snakeskin navy band, and my ultimate final watch to get in the future is the Rolex Datejust 36mm with chrome face and jubilee band.

    Great video as always TGV. Love my own Neptune which gets loads of wrist time so open to considering the GMT. Lorier seem to be able to hit the sweet spot every time -- and for a reasonable price too.

    You legit came out with the perfect video. I've been looking for a GMT since starting my multinational business. I couldn't do the Tudor or Rolex as its just too big and thick for my taste! I can't believe someone came out with a 39mm!

    Everything you said plus the bracelet. The bracelet seems to be apartig from all trends and gives the watch uniqueness. I would no’t call it a pepsi color eather it’s more unique also, like you said at the beginning is like cherry. For the blue I’ll say is more like those first opaque cars from the 50’s/70’s. And for the plexiglass it is like watching an old polaroid that ages. I find the whole collection esquisit and classy.
    Great review and subscribed.
