He was called No Show Jones because he spent years battleing Alcoholism and missed numerous concerts due to it.
My husband wouldn’t go to his concerts even when sobered up and showed up. I went with with a friend😅
That is also why they called him the opossum! " Just playing opossum! "
He was called No Show Jones because he was would get drunk and couldn't go on stage. A few years before George died, I saw him in concert at the Gold Country Casino in California's gold country. I called my grandpa, who was a huge fan of classic country music, he lived in Georgia, told me that I better hope George shows up
He was sober for years and years before he passed, thx to God and AA!
No-show Jones was because he would often be to drunk to do a show. Thank God he wasn't when he toured with Loretta and Conway, I got to see him, the best was when he did "Right left Hand" and Nacy came on stage and showed us her ring! LOL He was also called "The possum" That came from a friend of his who said his picture on an early album cover looked like a possum, LOL To me Mr. Jone was the greatest country artist, then, now and forever! Thank you for the reaction, big thumbs up!!
George was a friend of a guy who owned a big bar in Kentucky. George was supposed to sing there at 7 but was passed out in Georgia. The owner rented a limo and they carried George to it. They helped George to the stage. This was about 1 am when they got him there. He sang for 2 hours drinking the whole time. Great singer
You may like George Jones singing,” i don’t need no rocking chair “. Always enjoy watching your reactions.
you should watch the video of him and Dolly singing The Blues Man....in the video you can see in the background photos from his troubled past and of course Dolly sings beautifully
Let's just say that Dolly is well known for these two reasons: 1. her voice and 2. her songwriting genius!
Yeah right! LOL
He knows it all.
George had a bit of an alcohol problem, and there was a time in his career he would simply not show up. There is a video of him. after having all of his car keys confiscated, as he was extremely inebriated, so he took the riding lawn mower to go get more beer. Yes, he and Tammy Wynette were married for a time, sang together, and toured together. She eventually divorced him even though they were still in love with each other. They would get back together again just to flame out in one flamboyant way or another. She also had substance abuse issues and some mental health issues, and there were times when her behaviors were quite odd. But I tell you what, the woman could sing, and George and Tammy made a lot of great music together, but they just couldn't live with each other's issues. After she died, George went on, but he never quit loving her until the day he died. "He Stopped Loving Her Today" has to be one of the truly saddest songs if you know the story of their lives and the love that always found a way to slip out of their hands. Country music writes about life in a genre that many people just won't let go of and listen to. I was raised listening to country, and I believe that it colored my life. That is a great suggestion, and I enjoyed your reaction. A more contemporary song is by Faith Hill and Tim McGraw (married to each other) that I always felt took a page from George and Tommy in their video "Like We Never Loved Before." I'm sorry this turned out to be such a novel; feel free to let this one go to the round file cabinet *grin*.
First time hearing ??, wow ,what a treat❤
You should do a piece on the Possum's "Who's gonna fill their shoes"
💯
Must’ve been drunk George jones and Merle haggard another fun song
Thanks for reviewing George Jones, he’s my favorite artist.
Could you play George and bb king cover of patches. It's very good 2 kings playing the music
Back in the day his contract called for minimum of 30 minutes performance. Went to see him at Chastain Amphitheatre, his bus rolled in he got off, played 35 minutes, was back on the bus and it was out of there before anyone else even realized the show was over.
Please react to "Ole Frank" by George Jones, it's one of my favorites....
Can you react to George Jones our bed of roses
He knows it.
He was wild out drinking missing shows. He felt really bad about that in his sober years for letting the fans down. I love George He is my favorite. Just wanted to tell you a story I heard about him wanting to sing last but buck Owings said no so George Jones went first and sang all of buck songs lmao.
Haha.......... Love your Reactions!!!!
You know you have made it when George jones poked fun at you lol
EVERYTHING BY GEORGE JONES AND MERLE HAGGARD GREAT MUSIC
George, Waylon, Willie & Hank Williams Jr are know for being funny! You just seen George Waylon always switches the words around. Hank Williams Jr is know for always pulling his hat down over his ears. They like doin goofy stuff. Getting good laughs at the others expense! lol
Please react to " I Always Get Lucky With You " by KING GEORGE. I really think you will enjoy it!!
Oh you met him too
jones best song is "choices " in my humble opinion ! but then again there's the corvette song :)
Most called him the Possum...I call him the GOAT
Watch his special on Tales from the Tourbus. Really shows how bad his and Tammy's was
He often was a no show to his concerts because of his alcohol problem.
He used to get so drunk he’d disappear, nowhere to be found and wouldn’t show up to his concerts.
Poor George had a rough few years, often too inebriated to perform, if they could even find him
Got drunk and didn’t show up
He would get drunk and not show
This guy's ignorantly annoying. First, he takes everything too literally. "Really, you didn't know that Merle Haggard had been in prison?" (Uh, of course George did.) And then re "Dolly's got two big reasons why she's well known"---this guy then goes on a politically correct tangent about how respected Dolly is, etc. Well, back in the '70s, Dolly was respected as an artist, but she was also joshed re her big boobs. Every country artist in the community was playfully mocked for something: George for being a drunk, Hag for being in prison, Dolly for being "trashy."
Can't wait for a RUclips country host's take on rap lyrics. Oh, but that would be racist.
Stupid reactor.
