I've had several old 60s Chevies, a 62, 64, 65, and a 66. I only 'fixed up' the 64 with a friends' help. It started out like yours, with bad valve seals and a bed with NO wood floor left. I swapped out the fleetside for an 8' stepside and installed an un-rebuilt 327 from a 68 Impala- which promptly shredded the little 3spd so I obtained a 'rock-crusher' 4spd and that fixed it. When talking about heat: “I don’t need that stuff” as he’s literally blowing an ice storm out of his mouth
This reminds me of my grandma's 48 Plymouth deluxe, no heat,no defrost, vacuum wipers that worked every few minutes or so and a speedometer that didn't work but made a jingling sound.
I could pull a house off its' foundation if I had enough weight in the bed. I miss it.
