    Ken, congratulations for such a great review! I have a Nikon D5100 for 12 years already and wanted to do an upgrade to something smaller and modern especially for travel pictures, portraits and my kids doing sports like skateboarding. I am seeing good offers for the M200 (that was replaced by series R) and a reasonable price (almost double) for the R50, with the RF-S 18-45mm + RF-S 55-210mm. What out of those 2 do you believe is a better investment? (Probably, just like my D5100, I will stick with it for a good while). And if you would go for the R50, are those lenses good options or I should look in more detail into other available options? (Like in my Nikon, I love the 35mm for portraits.)

    • @KenRockwellTV
      @KenRockwellTV  7 месяцев назад +1

      M200 is an obsolete system. R50 is new and superb. This video was just an unboxing, here’s the full review with sample photos check it out! www.kenrockwell.com/canon/eos-r/r50.htm

    • @KenRockwellTV
      @KenRockwellTV  7 месяцев назад +1

      And as I suggest at my review, having the RF-S 18-150mm is worlds better than the two lens combo since you don’t have to swap lenses and miss photos, just a twist of the zoom goes from wide to tele www.kenrockwell.com/canon/eos-r/lenses/18-150mm.htm

    Sigma 50-500mm F/4.5-6.3 OS HSM (£280-330) (Heard this one is sharper over the 150-500)
    Sigma 150-500mm F/5-6.3 OS HSM (£300-330)
    Tamron 200-500mm F/5-6.3 (£300)

      Forget Sony. Ergonomics are terrible, and I don’t like the colors anywhere near as much as nikon or Canon. If you get one, be sure to get it from an approved source at www.kenrockwell.com/links.htm#stores so you can return it if you hate it. D800 like all FX DSLRs works wonderfully well with Nikons greatest lenses: the AI-s manual focus ones. If you want to play with cameras, instead treat yourself to these manual focus lenses and you’ll know what nikon was all about. www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/nikkor.htm#mf

      I’d go R50 so long as you have a way to get focus. In low light Mirrorless cameras start to lose it and not be able to focus manually since it’s harder and harder to see a live image. Otherwise the electronic shutter of the z50 should be a big win. Thanks!

      Thanks, after much obsessive back and forth regarding which camera. I decided to just stick with cell phone imaging. Living in Los Angeles I only see 5 or 6 stars, and 2 of them are helicopters. With a 9.25 scope I don't get out of the city very much so investing in a DSLR doesn't make sense. Great channel.

    This should be the successor to the M50. However, if you have the m50, and the superb 32mm 1.4 lens, there is almost no reason to jump up into the RF line (apsc) until they port that lens over.
    The M cameras perform just fine, and it makes no sense to me why they did not just port their existing lens formulas from the M exactly over to this cam. For the price and size, the M lenses are excellent performers, and there ain't nothing wrong with the 24mp and 32mp M sensors.
    Thanks for the excellent reviews as always.

    Crikey, that is small. Could be tempted by the R10 with RF 18-150mm and RF 100-400mm. I have the Sony RX10 iv which is mighty versatile - I guess the only thing to do is to buy an R10 and compare handling and output. Following your review, I bought a Canon 90D earlier this year. Beautifully made and a delight to use but I detested the noise and multiple lenses so sold it.

      @@KenRockwellTV In the end I realised that I was suffering from gear acquisition syndrome. Certainly Canon is super but I'd need 100-400mm too and probably 1.4x and 2x multipliers and it never hurts to have a 50mm and/or 35mm. Used RX10 iv are now virtually throw-away money. PhotoLab sorts images nicely. Tried Radiant Photo and Topaz, prefer DxO.

    (back in the day, minolta could have ruled the roost, they had a 2 year jump on canon, insane tech and people forget there was huge anger against canon changing its mount, the t90 having such a short run, the ef line didnt bed in straight away, idiot things in 1987 like minolta changing the hotshoe, cost them first place and second palce and ultimatly cost them in the end their company, is canon going down the same idiot coperate anti consumer street)
