This is an awesome review within 2 minutes you dispelled any concerns I had about needing another lens anytime soon thank you
Thanks! My fave is the www.kenrockwell.com/canon/eos-r/lenses/18-150mm.htm 18-150mm
@@KenRockwellTV Looks like I know what my next lens will be. Thanks.
Great images! Greetings for Brazil!
Thank you!!!
Ty Ken!!
YW! If I speak too fast, find the gear or options control in your player, select Playback Speed and try 0.75x or 0.5x and bingo!, it’s in English! Thanks!
As ever, straight to the point.
I have no hesitation in referring people to Ken’s RUclips channel and website, as he really isn’t trying to sell any cameras, lenses and other paraphernalia. It’s just good info that cuts out all the unnecessary fluff.
Have been following since the day of Website gear review blog.
Thanks for noticing! I work really hard to keep it all useful and zero fluff.
@@KenRockwellTV I’ve even taken on your “no fluff” saying.
the lack of a hot shoe is a pretty big deal for me but I guess if I were buying this as my first "real" camera, it's not a big deal to buy one of the new electronic flashes.
RUclips reviewers and the rise of the vlogger commenting on cameras has made the proper hotshoe less glamorous. I don't use my proper flashes often but I love them. That said, if I wanted a pocketable camera for holidays etc then I would not worry about a flash option.
I’d rather have the built in flash than any shoe, and my review at www.kenrockwell.com/canon/eos-r/r50.htm#useflash has links to the adapter that lets you use all the old flash - but why? The built in is all you need. Thanks!
Hello Mr. Rockwell great video as always I was thinking about buying a canon mirrorless camera but here in Iran the prices aren't really good nowadays and I was wondering is r50 better than canon rp in image quality department? or should I get none of them and wait a couple of months to get a better camera?
RP is full frame so no iq is not the same
@@billx4266it's not always about full frame being better aps c I have used full frames that have far worse image quality than micro 4/3 also who said it's the same do you see "are they the same" in my question?
Good question. See my reviews with high ISO sample images at www.kenrockwell.com/canon/eos-r/r50.htm and www.kenrockwell.com/canon/eos-r/rp.htm and compare for yourself. I’d just get the newer R50 and love it; photos are great, it has a built in flash and is smaller.
I'm now wanting to buy a mirrorless. I'm confused and stuck between canon, Nikon and Sony. What do you recommend? Is the R50 worth it?.. is it a dealbreaker to have no viewfinder like on the z30?
I prefer the Canon system for Mirrorless. The R50 is an awesome camera, I’d get it. Having no viewfinder is weird. See the R50 review at www.kenrockwell.com/canon/eos-r/r50.htm and the brands compared at www.kenrockwell.com/tech/comparisons/nikon-vs-canon-vs-sony-full-frame.htm get the rfs 18-150mm if you can; it does everything. www.kenrockwell.com/canon/eos-r/lenses/18-150mm.htm
What a cracking body!
Will the standard R lens still fit with the crop? Cheers
Perfectly!! Thanks!
Super little camera, IMO. I passed as have a few older EF-S lenses anyway and I spied a 200D (v reputable retail warranted source) going. Super deal and v similar to this in handling, and I have other cameras. Lacks convenience factors but for everyday stuff it never cost much and me not being a pro it takes me a day or so to reacquaint on anything more complicated (even to my standard). If it had had the sensor cleaner I might have said why not ..........(first world issue I accept).....Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.
Thanks!
A little confused, why a place for a mic? Does it do video?
Yes, it shoots video.
why leave out any reference to battery performance?
Those details are in my full written review as I mentioned at www.kenrockwell.com/canon/eos-r/r50.htm#powerbattery thanks.
Goes to show, even a cheap plastic camera can still make great images
Whadaya mean “still?” It’s all plastic today. Thanks!
