CM Punk is the most polarizing wrestler in the world, you either love him or hate him, and now in 2023 he is back in AEW. After a little hiatus last year, he officially returned on the debut edition of AEW Collision. How long will this tenure last? we will find out.. but I thought with all this talk of CM Punk why not go back to his WWE run, the run that made him who he is. The run that made him into a huge star. Look back at the ups and downs and that ending that nobody was ready for.. and why because of that ending, many fans are hoping that this CM Punk return, it finally ends with a happy ending.. lets go back to The Night CM Punk Left the WWE...

It’s crazy to think that it’s almost been 10 whole years that CM Punk has left WWE. Although his career has had so many ups and downs, he’ll forever remain one of my childhood favorites both before and after the Pipebomb. Before with the Straight Edge Society and his ECW time, and of course, the voice of the voiceless and longest reigning WWE Champion afterwards. What a career and while he’s hated by many today, I still love him for the wonderful memories he’s given me and many others.👍

Punk is a strange case. He's got an ego, but it's not entirely unwarranted. He repeatedly blames other people for what happens to him, but largely because he was continually getting screwed over by Vince. Like him or not though, the guy is a damn fine performer both in-ring and on the mic.

Move the belt to Del Rio
Have punk get beat up by Nash, which never led to a match.
Job him out to triple H, the miz + R Truth.
U cannot argue that any of those guys sold more t shirts, had more signs in the crowd or more chants on the reg than cm punk.
On top of that he beat john cena 4 times in 2011 + 2012 and every single one of those had wonky screwy indecisive finishes

One more thing, about him being in the main event, he should've got it at wrestlemania 29 vs. Cena or taker. He was feuding with cena on and off since 2011 and it would've made sense to end the longest feud at the time (the one people probably cared about more tbh) at mania. Even then Punk vs. Taker is still main event material

Of course it's not the sole reason cause all those guys are amazing and deserve it regardless, but it does feel like it's worth mentioning.

I didn’t realize that punk was concussed at the rumble, and that WWE’s response to get him out of it was to have Kane choke slam him through the announce table. That’s a very dangerous guy for a dude that’s already concussed because you risk the guy hitting the back of his head on the table or the floor in a whiplash. I can see why he didn’t want to work there anymore. That rumble is of special significance in my eyes, in a negative way, because of what happened with punk. Punk put in 49 minutes, that’s a very impressive royal rumble stat, just shy of Benoit and mysterio level. Honestly I was hoping he would win that rumble. And dang he seemingly came close while watching the match before being unceremoniously dumped out by Kane.

This video makes WWE come off as such an unserious company (which they are) lol, like they have doctors saying "what do you want me to do?" when someone has a concussion, like they didn't hire you as a professional to not know what to do in this situation or did they just hire somebody learning how to be a doctor lol, and then to put him through the announce table when he has a concussion which could have made it worse is even funnier, like what is this company thinking

I feel like 1 thing that opened up about Punk not main eventing is that it opened up managements eyes over the lack of WM Main eventers on their roster. Since then Daniel Bryan, Roman Reigns, Becky Lynch, Ronda Rousey, Charlotte Flair, Aj Styles, Drew Mcintyre, Bianca Belair, Sasha Banks, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, The Usos, and Cody Rhodes have headlined the show. Could this be more? Yes but it’s an improvement over how it used to be.
