Great build, though in the spirit of providing constructive criticism, do have some points to make. Firstly, waaaaay too much freedom for these bears - too much open space and enrichment activity, you need to remind these animals that they are subordinate to us, remind them WE are the apex predator, human. I'd suggest you give them a 6 x 6 ft patch of earth with concrete walls that go up 18 ft and are enclosed with electrified barb wire fence over the top of the enclosure. You'll also want to have four sentry towers guarding the concrete chimney with 12 ICBMs per sentry tower, mounted and ready to fire at a moment's notice; you'll also want to equip these sentry towers with anti-personnel flamethrowers and a moat, to keep out the kids. Secondly, where is the crowd control of the guests? You'd should equip your paths with chlorine gas deployment modules every 8 feet, a gas canister that can be triggered in the event you need to disperse the 'guests' and also breakable wiring to set off the canister in case anybody wants to try and take one home with them. I also recommend equipping all zoo guards with ak-47s, a bazooka with every other guard, a katana, a set of cyanide capsules (in case of capture), an electrified Bowie knife, chewing gum, and mini-tube of deodorant (in case you need to freshen up after laying down the law). You should also make sure the zoo restaurants use meat only supplied by the zoo animals themselves (it's for the environment, closed loop system). You implement these modifications into your zoo and you'll see an uptick in the popularity of your zoo! Guaranteed!
NO WATERFALLS. UNSUB. Thanks for the mention, getting that 'Natural, but realistically placed' rockwork is something I'm really looking forward to working on. Beautiful build as usual! Paulsley's roofs are definately the closest thing I've seen to a true geodesic dome. There's a popular one on the workshop but it overlaps a lot due to using Hexagons (it needs to be pentagons). I spent half a day trying to make one before remembering it was beta and time was limited! The problem is, you have to get that very first angle spot on else the whole thing goes to pot, often not obviously until much later on. As for cold glass buildings, ignoring the massive cost and the amount of heat that would be pumped out of it, the main reason they aren't used much is the condensation apparently. Still, it looks awesome and again I appreciate your attention to detail :D
Toronto Metro Zoo used domed biomes for a lot of their animals due to cold weather. They are cooled in summer and heated in winter. I was there in early May and it was still quite cool outside and I was quite hot inside.
*someone:* air conditioning *me, an intellectual:* Reverse Greenhouse™ ...but for real, that building is gorgeous and I'd love to be there, especially when it's raining. I hope you consider building more glass structures, because they look awesome. I don't know much about this game yet but now I need to look up to see if aviaries are a thing.
I don't think the ground textures are too out of place, at least here in scandinavia it can defenitely be that orange/brown in the fall or very early spring before anything has really started growing again. I'm loving your videos of this game ^^
I honestly can’t even comprehend how you were able to do this just in the beta??? Your work is incredibly beautiful and I look forward to seeing what happens when you have access to the full release. ☺️
In Singapore the River Safari zoo houses pandas and red pandas in a giant climate controlled habitat. Its not unrealistic to have such habitats as you mentioned in the video
i heard about this game recently and was really drawn by the allowable dexterity in the build scene! so nice! i want this game when it comes out! im an arch student so i don't have the time during the semester, but i would love to spend my breaks on this! so excited! thanks for inspiration :)
Great coaster builders are not necessarily great zoo builders, but you are both. You are the reason I bought Planet Coaster. You and your creations are a huge inspiration!
This looks AMAZING! A real genius of architecture and decoration. I wish I could do the same. I'm enchanted. Hope to see more videos of Planet Zoo here. Thank you so much!!!
Honestly ive been watching these builds from a couple of youtubers in the past hours, and id love to be at any of these zoos way more than any real ones i know of.
Finally someone making a big (and decent) space for animals, was tired of seeing tigers and bears living in a 6x6 square, we have so much space in that game, let's use it. You're the best making good and healthy spaces I've seen so far, you won a new subscriber !
I am not one of those people who say that something in Planet coaster/Planet Zoo has to be realistic. I know it is something that's important for you. But I just enjoy your impressive videos. And it is awesome as always. So wonderful work at this!
I've never played Planet Coaster nor Planet Zoo, ya know, old computer from Zoo Tycoon 2 era, but I honestly just really love to hear you talk about literally anything, and your builds, they are AMAZING, congrats to u my friend! Please do more of these. :)
Dude this is beautiful. SOOOOO freaking cool. Haven't ever come across your channel but I am definitely subscribing and am eagerly anticipating your future videos when the full game drops. Keep it up man!
I swear to god, i was skipping through your video and I landed on you saying "oooh I can feel you skipping to the end of my video" . My mind was blown. Then I backed up to understand context and my mind got blown even more.
(listening to him saying he doesn't like how it turned out) Me: "Yeah man, glad you said it. It looks really bad. Wow. How do you even dare to publish this garbage? You really need the practice..." SARCASM Seriously, you are the most incredible builder! Sorry, no helpful constructive criticism from me, just mad respect and jealousy.
I really enjoyed this exhibit. I hope to be able to be as creative with my zoo as I get comfortable. I'm pretty novice but I cannot wait to try some of your ideas. I had to laugh you kept saying it didn't look realistic with the dome, I have to say I really loved the dome or Reverse Greenhouse, idea. It reminded me of a contained ecosystem. Can't wait to see what you do next.
this is SO COOL! I love how much effort you put into everything. Might want to watch how much of the exhibit isn't visible, but i know bears like to be alone sometimes! keep it up!
howdy! i'm from the part of north america where grizzlies like to hang out, and i live a little bit away from town. my house has two different ravines around it, one behind, and the other in front. the bird's-eye view of the timelapse reminds me of looking into the ravines from the second floor of my house. it looks just like my home! good job mate :)
Loved every minute of this, it has inspired me to help do my next episode in the series I am doing of planet of zoo. I didn't know that a barrier would effectively stop animals from going through the scenery!
I say put the people in the habitats and let the animals roam free and tap on THEIR glass! No fur! No fur! No fur! ..I'm just silly-tired, sorry. Good stuff man, I enjoy listening to your commentary and also watching you break into a new game like this. Very fun, thanks! Btw love the stylized mountain range design on the ends, super sweet.
Not sure if they have fishes in the game but it would be cool to build a fish pond/lake with a north american theme near the bear enclosure with an underwater glass window viewing area. I got this idea because the bear enclosure reminds me a little of Bass Pro Shop lol
In terms of interesting Grizzly habitats, lookt at the one in the Zoom zoo, in Gelsenkirchen. It has a rope bridge over the habitat. It also has a waterfall!
(second comment) when we visited the SD zoo we also saw quite a few of their bears, at least the sunbears and polar bears, i think there was one more, but cant remember... these bears were very interesting, the smaller bears (like the sunbears) actually loved to climb, and the one we saw was taking a nice nap, belly-up at the top of a small tree in his/her enclosure xD the polar bears were amazing, the exhibit had underwater and above-ground viewing rooms, and watching the bear swim was quite cool, our highlight however was when the bear just happened to mark his territory before we left haha (polar bear poop is huge!) interestingly, there were some herons hanging around the exhibit, i guess they like the fish that they serve the bear? not sure. to keep the bears cool, they had snow-dispensing machines high above the enclosure, those were very interesting.
13:42 a bit of a weird cut, not sure if it was intended. I love your videos, and I just preordered this game for my sister who actually works at the National Zoo! I know she's gonna love it.
I do love animals and love the way you considered much of the detail of the wildlife habitat. But please!! don't criticized yourself. You are such an amazing builder!! Having good time watching your video !! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
really nice enclosure! Love your detailed work! regarding feedback: I just think that it would be awesome if you could make a series where you upload daily cutted episodes (including timelapse building and commentary and so on) where you design your own zoo!
I know you aim for realism, but I can appreciate a few unrealistic builds like this. Part of the charm is that it ISNT really something people would do in real life. I personally think the 'greenhouse' looks wonderful. One 'constructive' criticism I have as a viewer... I want to see more cultural architecture like with the Bhutanese buildings in Tiger Trail! ;D Maybe not something a lot of zoos do, but I think it adds a lot of charm and I always LOVE when places have stuff that fits the culture of the area they're portraying. An example would be Disney World, specifically Epcot and Animal Kingdom. Something about the props, buildings, and shifts in styles between attractions gives me such an amazing feeling of immersion with each area. You did a lot of this in your Planet Coaster parks and I would LOVE to see more of it in Planet Zoo, even if it wasn't something you did a lot of.
@@Silvarret Actually I saw it already pretty early - but still wanted to ask. Just because I can haha. One minor feedback tho. I love the mountain shapes on the outside, but it would be even greater if the peaks would have a little white snow cover effect!
Only just found your channel as I’ve just got planet coaster but will be getting planet zoo as well and just wow I can’t believe the stuff you create! That habitat looks amazing! Mine would be a fence and a couple of trees 😂😂 can’t wait to see more from you!
I know you might not agree with this, but the housing structure for the bears will probably do them good! It’s white and white reflects heat I believe? So they will find it cooler in there? Don’t knock yourself too hard! You did a bloody awesome job and the end result is gorgeous as always!
There are some sustainability concepts that can be integrated into buildings you want to passively cool. The arch in this case will actually create convection currents, helping to circulate fresh air and reducing the need for fans. Thermal mass in the form of rocks, logs, and especially ponds & streams will help by soaking up radiant heat like a sponge during the day. They will then slowly release this heat during cool nights to keep the building comfortably mild. The most efficient designs incorporate adjustable vents at the top where the hottest air can escape, and this creates an air current that sucks air in from other openings. The trick is make these openings the coolest parts of the structure, shaded by most of the thermal mass and right by the water, so that air intake is always cooler than what's vented out. The water from a pond will also evaporate as it heats up, collecting on the inside of the arched roof and drip back down. This helps provide some additional evaporative cooling in dry climates, but you'll obviously want to design the structure so that this condensation is directed back into the pond and not dropping on guests' heads. Now, given that we're talking 40 C (105 F) highs, the naked glass simply will not do. Even with tinted triple-pane windows, the greenhouse effect will cascade. What you really want is a series of awnings or baffles that will block direct sunlight while still allowing plenty of ambient light to filter through. That means they should be light colored or white to maximize reflectivity of the diffuse light.
Love this build!:) Beautifully designed. Though, I wish the viewing area wouldn't have a wooden roofing, since it already has the glass roof. I guess as a visitor, I'd like to experience the grandness and view of the dome.
Love your style, can't wait to see more videos. Is it possible to put a scratching post inside of one of your dead trees? Might give a use to them as well as hide the red and blue eyesore.
I really like the little hut that's the viewing platform, very cute! For your next bear enclosure why not try something like the Berenbos from Ouwehands Dierenpark?
Speaking of bonding with your animals, I totally agree. I think you should be able to slow down the time a little bit more so that you can spend some more time with your animals. Name them, get to know them and see them grow up and have babies of their own and then you can name those. But if it only takes a few hours for you to get great grandchildren for your first animals, you aren't really going to bother with naming them and caring about them
If you want to make a double lock, the easiest way I've found it to place a guest gate near the actual enclosure, and then building around it. As long as there are only staff paths connecting the guest gate with the actual enclosure gate, guests will never use it.
There is actually a greenhouse at Kew gardens I believe that is a modern one designed to climate control for keeping alpine species cool... So there is at least one real world application of something vaguely like this! I don't know what their electric work is and it is in a more temperate environment, though. These lapses are lovely background to draw to!
Ground textures are fine for these guys, reminds me of Montana or Wyoming or a dryer mountainous place in the US where you would def find Grizzly bears.
Realistic or not, your bear house looks amazing! Pls don't stop putting all your love into your zoo buildings, your creativity and your eye for details is very inspiring!
2:40 you don't mean my comment about the separation do you? 😅 didn't mean to bog you down about that, I merely just meant to share my experience at the SD Zoo, and to *inspire* you... however I am glad you strive for such great, excellence in your work! just don't beat yourself up too bad about it ;P
Your main problem cooling that building is not the glass roof (we have very high performance glass these days) but the large openings at either end. It would basically be impossible to keep cool. Also, do you know if male grizzlies are ever kept with females. I know in the wild after hibernation male grizzlies make a point of eating any cubs they can find.
Bears mainly won't eat their own cubs except in incredibly dire situations and zoo animals never get to that point. If they're kept well fed they shouldnt have a reason to cannibalize.
@@Silvarret Yeah, not many people seem to be aware of how precarious a cub's life is due to predation by males. I wasn't aware of this until I started listening to Joe Rogan's podcast. There have even been cases observed where a male killed a cub that the female was unable to protect and left the carcass, the female then proceeded to eat it. Nature red in tooth and claw!
My only comment is; you are being too hard on yourself. It is a super, great, gorgeous, marvelous habitat. It is very natural looking and all you would need to do is put some coolers inside; especially in the shelter. I lived in bear country here in the U.S and it is quite realistic for the Rocky Mountains.
This build was amazing however I do have some constructive criticism. Grizzly bears, unlike their black bear cousins, would hate climbing as their long claws that are used for digging would be difficult for them to latch onto the trunks and hoist their bodies up. Due to this, it wouldn't be likely for them to hop across the vertical trunks as it wouldn't be as comfortable as it would for a black bear who has climbed trees their entire lives. Other then that it is amazing!
Looks great, i like the way you split the enclosures and i think the smaller backstage enclosure would be good as it would be very realistic. What i don't like is the mixing of the architectural styels with the glass enclosure overlaying the log cabin theme...i just think they clash from my perspective. The glass enclosure seems like it would work more for a bird aviary or something else, but it just doesn't feel right to me with the log work. Still nice job as usual and very detailed, although one thing i am not sure is why people aren't hiding the coolers more and just leaving them out in the open, just seems weird to me.
This build looks absolutely incredible! The only thing I have concerns about is the traversable area of the bears with all those rocks and trees around. Are the bears actually able to walk in between all of them?
I don't think a cooled part of the enclosure was necessary, because in some areas where Grizzlys it will reach like 40 degrees in Summer and also -40 in winter, like central Canada. Which probably has some similar temperatures as on the Asiatic steppes. But some cooling in Summer is never bad, so that water is a nice touch.
Can't wait to see what you come up with once the full game is released. Are you planning on uploading the franchise mode challenges or doing more of a sandbox mode style zoo? (Or both?! :D )
Silvarret, you are way too hard on yourself. I guess we all only see the faults in things when are doing what we love. But we have to remember that the point of PZ is that it is a game and should be fun. The most important thing to keep in mind is that you should be enjoying what you are doing. I love everything that you make because I could never come up with these amazing designs.
Great build, though in the spirit of providing constructive criticism, do have some points to make. Firstly, waaaaay too much freedom for these bears - too much open space and enrichment activity, you need to remind these animals that they are subordinate to us, remind them WE are the apex predator, human. As someone who lives in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in North America, thank you for showing the beauty of my home.
Grizzly bears aren’t actually that in to climbing! Black bears are heavily arboreal animals but grizzlies tend to be very awkward climbers
True!
So about the glass roof. We could pretend the glass has some film on it that reflekts the heat from the sun.

I like how you try to make it look like someone is trying to hide the cooling system
Great building i think you are the best builder in planet zoo
definetely nicking this idea for my zoo when the game comes out
Ik kijk altijd met super veel plezier naar jouw video's, blijf zo door gaan want je bent echt super goed in bouwen 🤗💖
This looks amazing! Like wow, just wow o.o
Mooi man. Mooie koepel. Ziet er tenminste stevig uit zo. En dat het niet helemaal realistisch is. Boeiuh. Ga door zo. Te gek!!!
Love this build!:) Beautifully designed. Though, I wish the viewing area wouldn't have a wooden roofing, since it already has the glass roof. I guess as a visitor, I'd like to experience the grandness and view of the dome.
Beautiful construction, you have talent
Love your style, can't wait to see more videos. Is it possible to put a scratching post inside of one of your dead trees? Might give a use to them as well as hide the red and blue eyesore.
... that's a genius idea. I think it could work, maybe not with the trees since they're quite thin, but the in-game logs can do the job for sure!
I really like the little hut that's the viewing platform, very cute!
For your next bear enclosure why not try something like the Berenbos from Ouwehands Dierenpark?
That's so COOL Grizzly Bear;s Habitat!!! 🌲🐻🌲 😉👍
Your builds are awesome!!!
Great build!!
realism is never a must in games, just be creative
Speaking of bonding with your animals, I totally agree. I think you should be able to slow down the time a little bit more so that you can spend some more time with your animals. Name them, get to know them and see them grow up and have babies of their own and then you can name those. But if it only takes a few hours for you to get great grandchildren for your first animals, you aren't really going to bother with naming them and caring about them
Great work Silv!
These lapses are lovely background to draw to!
my jaw was on the floor for this entire video
@@callumheathis It's not a hunger thing. It's to force the female into oestrous so they can mate.
@@Aristoprat That's crazy, never heard about that. Suppose I'm glad to have the separate enclosure in any case then.
@@Aristoprat I don't think Joe Rogan is the most relieble source...
Very nice build!
You are awesome ! lovin these vids
Nice work, I don't understand how you set the center of rotation to not be on the object to organize the windows around.
(Or both?! :D )
For me it'll be a sandbox playthrough, for sure.
i love it ! ♡ You are amazing !
