The Bob Ross of Zoo's
"Otherwise you wind up with a big glass box" I'm not sure that Geekism has never seen a greenhouse...
XD
Why not hang the coolers from the celling so they look like misters.
anyone else feel like this is the happiest game out there
I was spending my Friday watching Planet Zoo speed builds and I just ran out of videos. Perfect timing, thanks Geekism :)
I aim to please :D
This is just most calming thing ever, and really, so are all the other Geekism videos. Perfect for a mental defrag after a long day
Just got off of 24hours of duty with about 4 hours of sleep and i was very excited to see a new Episode from this series.
I found your Planet Zoo builds videos because I am SOOO excited for the game to come out, I've been consuming all the PZ Beta content I can. I was watching a video of yours the other day and my boyfriend, who really enjoyed Planet Coaster, heard your intro from the other room. He pops in and says, "Oh hey, it's this guy! He taught me so much about building in Planet Coaster!" Turns out we both found your channel independently of one another, for two different games hahahaha ❤
Absolutely loving the PZB builds and everything you're doing on here. You've got two new subscribers (and fans) in this house! 🥳 Love from SA, Texas!
Haha! That's awesome :D Say hi to your guy for me :D
21:40 yes ! this is the Gazibo building Jam!
at this point Im just addicted to your channel
lol, thanks!
I think that courtyard beside the conservatory makes plenty of sense! Lots of zoos have open areas like that for hosting weddings and other events. Beautiful exhibit, as always!
If you flip the coolers over and put them up on poles, they'll look like water misters and you can 'pretend' they use evaporative cooling, which is very reasonable to have outdoors.
Temperature with buildings is pretty great. When it's hot the shade of a building makes it cooler. If it starts raining the opposite happens, even open buildings keep some heat. Like places with lots of concrete cooling down slower than a very "natural" environment. It's amazing
I hope Frontier listens to the complaints about the “max foliage” limit. I understand it for some animals but it really effects creative builders negatively.
agree on that. Or *at least* give the possibility in sandbox mode to set every need off to jus tbuild and look nice? I don´t know. For my part I already noticed the foilage limit, even just getting started. What bugs me as well is not seperating aging and birth in the sandbox options. Same as beeing unable to ignore the max for the same species and things like that, since I´d love to build a giant african herbivore enclosure, like I used to do in zoo Tycoon2 a lot, which is not possible without ignoring that population limit, even tho the space is far beyond enough. And I hope for some color varians of the animals. Completely not understanding how they add all this detail, but they all look the same besides sizes.(and maybe those rare albinos)
You can have plant welfare at 0 and the general welfare will be in the green still.
The conservatory and the gazebo are gorgeous! I guess, it is one of the challenges combining your creative vision with the needs of the animals.
I'd be happy to see other parts of you playing. Like making a food court and bringing thr whole thing together. Loving it so far. I loved the victorian idea for the peafowl
Those stripes on lawns actually come entirely from mowing! (Well, at least, if they're managed the same way golf course grass is); the mowers we use have blades and rollers; the stripes come from mowing in different directions; sort of a back and forth motion. The grass gets pushed over by the brush & roller as you go, and so stripes mowed away from you look lighter, and towards you look darker (cause of the shadows). But it's all the same cut height!
(Sorry for the pedantics lol, just thought I'd share some fun facts)
It can be done with a roller too :) ruclips.net/video/3Nl8SForE_E/видео.html
I’m living vicariously through your builds and they’re absolutely sick. Can’t wait to see the full game and what you do with it.
For the Peafowl the sprinklers can cool it down a lot too, an that is a lot more realistic as its just cold water being sprayed :)
You can also use sprinklers to lower the temperature instead of coolers, and they have a customizable range.
If you make the weather cloudy constantly it drops to like 30C and it works for the peafowl. not great aesthetically but it works if you don't have the budget for coolers
I wish I could visit your zoo in real life haha
But I’m really looking forward to your videos when the game is fully out, I’ll really miss your videos when the beta is done.
I would definitely like to see you managing the guest areas & their needs
I live in Stuttgart and the house I think you used as a reference is more a moorish architecture theme. Love the different greenhouses.
There are free-roaming Wallaby’s in Whipsnade Zoo (I think it’s that one, I’ve been to so many!) another great video, Jonti. Doing such a great job, you’ve probably recognised me from the past few videos, think I comment on all of them 😂 so underrated!
Thanks Tommy!
A null fenced lawn or garden with a couple peafowls on it like they are just chilling there near a food court or something would be good too, they usually just keep themselves to themselves near by
I have been sitting in my room, waiting for you to upload a new planet zoo video since 4 pm. Absolutely love your videos man! Thank you:)))
Sprinklers are a great way of cooling animals! You can change the temperature of the water and the range in the same way as a cooler - sprinklers are cheaper and would help the look of an outdoor courtyard/garden!
Peacocks are wondering freely at Trago mills in Devon
On the topic of free-roaming peacocks, on my way to a vacation we stopped by this little but wonderful roadside attraction called "Casa de Fruta" and the minute we got out of the car, there were peacocks just strolling around, like they owned it lol.
Love the green house and the gazebo! Maybe try terrain painting for the stripes on the grass?
Cant wait for what you do with Sandbox
I'm loving your channel so much! Just found you and I'm addicted to watching your planet zoo stuff, it's the highlight of my day! Keep it up and the longer the video the better 😜
Many Australian zoos have wild (but friendly) scrub turkeys wandering around. I've even seen them get in the habit with the tigers.
Put some hedgework into the garden areas you can. Like around the trees. It’ll look more complete.
Awesome video!!!
Absolutley gorgeous. Love the peafowl fountain. Keep up the good work ^^ love the channel
Sprinkles also cool down the area around them
7.24 bamboo (Rick Mayall ,bottom ) lmao love it
As someone who has just started playing Planet Zoo, this is incredible! I thought I was doing amazingly figuring out how to do barriers and add in a couple of trees and maybe some paths that actually connect, but boy...I've realised I have very far to go and sooo much more to learn!! 🤣
Another incredible build! Very informative as in how you decide which pieces top use and how. Thanks!
Yess. Good job. I love all these glass buildings and greenhouse builds people are doing🤗😂😂
Cant wait for this to release! Great builds and content. Enjoying every minute of it! Any more pimp my habitat coming?😀
Nice to see you testing the boundaries of the game in its current build (no pun intended). Hopefully the devs make it a little more user friendly, and realistic, on release.
seriously......... you're a genius of architecture WAHW
"Imagine a Story."
The Story Makers
With Jackson & Jelly!lol!x 😂
@@tannettebeer1157 bruh you beat me to it, Jonti hacked my mind when he said that, I used to watch that as a kid, im 25 now and I recognised it I cant believe it XD
@@ss_hat Yeah, my 3 boys watched it when they were kids, they r not so little now, lol, but as soon as Jonti said 'Imagine a story', I remembered straight away!x 😂
it was also on balamory
I absolutely love your Peacock's cage.
"Daren... Daren?! You can't name a dog Daren?!" Hahahahaha
The sound of the peacock mating call inside this glass cavern would be deafening 😆
There's nothing wrong with simple boxes sometimes.
I started playing the Beta not long after it was first released and i had no idea the building system was this in depth haha.
I like this animal because as a child we often went to a "farm" and they had freeroaming Peafowls...
...I know that nobody wanted to know that but I just wrote it anyways :)
@18:43 If you don't want to use the coolers you and also build areas that provide shade to help with the keeping Animals cool. How I've done my Peafowls on this map. Created a large hardcover area for them on one side of the exhibit to keep them cool
I love your planet zoo videos I just subscribed!
I love how you talk about the welfare of animals in real zoos in these episodes
I’ve been waiting for a new planet zoo vid thanks
Absolutely stunning
8 is a good magic number for a regional park (so your spoiled with Canada's Wonderland and Cedar Point)
Missed the opportunity for a hedge maze
Ooooh, good idea!
i think Frontier really needs the resize option. They could get away in Coaster cuz mostly everything is just huge in Parks anyway but in Zoos you need to decorate way more delicate. Houses and Shelters for the animals all look massif.
The sims got it too
I'm curious if you move your null barriers that are inside the Greenhouse part to just the areas the peafowl can traverse, if it will change their "coverage." Like if the plant coverage factors the entire exhibit or just the area they can access. Because you have several areas of heavy foliage inside the greenhouse that the fencing prevents them from accessing.
I have been looking on bestinslots and tmartns RUclips channel but I have watched all there videos and then you cam and cured my boredom!
Another great habitat from your side!!
Just finnished a Terrarium Build myself. Took 2 days to make. Then i found out you cant save a blueprint with over 4000 objects.
😅 Now i need to delete 2899 objects in order to be able to save and share it. Where to start🤔 LoL
Now that live is out and they took away the max cap for plants animals will tolerate, can you imagine how pretty it could be!
Well this is lovely aint it?
gorgeous!
God I'm so excited for this game. I always loves RCT and ZT as a kid. Actually liked ZT more. Planet Coaster is amazing, but I feel like this game is going to be beautiful, and the animals look fantastic.
Do you plan your builds in advance, or just wing it? I can't imagine having this level of creativity at my disposal lol
JGigs i think they’re spontaneous which is nuts!
Normally I just wing it, sometimes I'll have an idea in my head or a photo as inspiration
Thanks for the Story Makers throwback, I now have the theme tune stuck in my head but I only remember two lyrics ("story" and "makers") so that's fun
Same but with the addition of "Stories are fabulous, stories are fun", "Jenny & Jackson, Working through the night til the rising sun" and "Come and be a storymaker" OwO;;
“You can’t name a dog Daren!”
*No Daren liked that.*
I had a Peahen and her young all jump my 6 foot privacy fence xD
lets see some more birds
Yesssssss. Building goals.
I'm having issues earning money and having animals escape right through solid wall constantly right now, but you're bringing some awesome ideas I'm for sure gonna try upon the actual game release! I used a lot of CC to build bird cages back in Zoo Tycoon 2 and it's gonna be amazing to be able to build even greater things with actual in-game content 😍
I honestly don’t mind seeing what else you can make besides just things for the animals as the staff and guests need their own spaces too obviously
Loved this one!
Couldn't you just make a giant habitat around the hole zoo so they could free rome? I love youre videos so exited for the release 🤠🤠
Edit: But they would probably 'hate' it because of the other habitats and foliage
When the game was first announced and they stated they won't roam free around the park, that is what I legit first thought of lmao
you wouldn't want them wandering into the Lion's enclosure.
@@dylanbrownie If the guests cant get in, i hope they dont either :D
the peacocks were hot in my zoo too and i found just by setting the weather to cloudy all the time it helped it dropped to like 30?c
Did you consider, or is it even possible, to move the barrier so that it excludes a bunch of the interior foliage. The Peafowl can't even get up into it, and they don't care for it. Can you just cut the far side of your conservatory out of the animals' enclosure?
What are you thoughts on doing a Top 5 Habitat series? I would personally love to see this, so i can understand the full capabilities of the game and its creativity. :)
I'm not really a fan of just showing other's work. I've done a few 'showcases' in the past and it never sat right with me, sorry!
@@Geekism
No need to be sorry :)
It's so nice to see many women here in the comments.
More women in gaming means more and new different gaming concepts, besides 'shot or getting shot'.
Thank you for existing, sisters!
Love this idea!
Darren? 😂
Jonti asked an African Wild Dog how big his enclosure was and it replied "It's from over there Tahir"
They cant even make it over the walls inside so I think you'll be all good lol and the plants dont actually effect their happiness so you can put as many as you want :P and make look nice
The peacocks aren't displaying because they are reworking the tails to make them better.
Ah, good to know, thanks!
Perhaps you could use a combination of short and long grass to create that striped grass effect?
I did try, but it didn't look good :(
That's a shame, it's probably the closest you can get with what's available in the game right now
Would've been nice to have a maze with the greenhouse
in Dutch we would say:Dit is kanker mooi
Really Great content, Keep it up!!
Thanks!
I really like this build. I was working on a building but noticed I don't have the modern building pieces (the glass parts) in my game. Not sure if I need to re download it or hope they pop up in my game when the full release comes out. IDK if I can say it's steam or the game...my net has a mind of its own. Sucky viasat as I'm in a rural area so its not a true high speed unlimited net thing. I think this company must be still using the square wheels and rotary phones roflmao ;P
You need to research the themes :)
@@Geekism you're absolutely correct...I spent this morning doing nothing but research..ran out of money :/ which led me to realize I had all building pieces but only for that particular franchise park. If I started another franchise park I had to start the research work all over again. I'm a better sandbox player lol :)
42 is really cold
Celcius
@@Geekism Hehe, yea I was just being silly. Love your videos; in your opinion how good is this game? In this day and age of so many games being messes at launch, does this game seem polished and ready to go Day 1?
I actually found that the sprinklers act as coolers too. Gives the toy enrichment bonus and cools down the peafowls outside at the same time. Win win?
I wish there were more options for guest doors. The wooden one is so plain and doesn't fit any of my build style. We have so many options but sometimes it feels like we have no options.
Could you sink hedges into the ground to make the grass stripes you want?
!!!! That could work!
My local zoo has a free roaming peafowl
i wish i could build like you!
awesome video :)
Wish this was coming out on Xbox 😕😓
Please become an architect, please just do it
I feel so dumb but how on earth do you upgrade the food quality?? 😭 I feel like I’ve looked everywhere! (Not caught up on all your videos so my apologies if you’ve already mentioned it somewhere else!)
In the habitat menu, under animals :)
Geekism Ahhh THANKS! :)
Could you not use the paths to make ‘stripes’ out of short and long grass, the grass under paths is automatically turned to short which would give you nice crisp lines.
