Love the voice over. Pickles = Cucumbers, Ground beef = Minced meat, Mozzarella cheese is cut into little cubes rather than shredded...so very charming with the accent. But I agree with others, bacon must be cooked completely in this country or the risk of Salmonella is very great. Really enjoy your videos, keep up the creative work.

As a descent of Mexicans and eating real Mexican food, and being born in Texas, and growing up w/Tex-Mex food... I'll say I will give these tasty treats a try.
Now, the only thing different i will do is stick to the Mexican cheeses. There are many Mexican cheeses that melt well:
    Queso fresco (fresh cheese)
Añejo (old cheese--don't let the name fool you--that is harder and drier; a crumbly cheese)
    Cotija (an aged cheese)
Oaxaca (stringed cheese, as it's known)
    Panela (it's a 'flexible/bendable' cheese)
Chihuahua cheese (similar to white cheddar)
    Requesòn (Mexican 'mozzarella')
Asadero (perfect melting cheese w/a mild flavor)
Manchego (similar to a sharp cheddar)
I have subbed to your channel and look forward to more delicious videos.❤

To the judgy commenters - stop it. I live the southwest (US) and you wouldn’t believe the arguments about what is original to the area, what isn’t, the right way to spell chile, what ingredients are used in ‘native’ dishes, etc. etc. Like Italian cooking, there are as many versions and ingredient sources as there are Italian grandmothers. Same with any culture. There is more than one way to build a dish and describe it. I love this channel and I watch techniques; I don’t nitpick about the rest.

Bacon is not raw. It is cured and smoked already when you buy it. Heating it up that way just doesn’t get it crispy. It is perfectly healthy to eat it uncooked if you want just like deli ham or prosciutto.

      From Google:
No, it’s not safe to eat raw bacon. Even though bacon has been preserved through the curing process, it has not been cooked. Like other foods you should never eat raw, consuming raw or undercooked meat puts you at risk of foodborne illness from viruses, bacteria or parasites.

@@zoiarabinovich7369 Maybe there is some inconsistency in the naming. Pickled to me means preserved in vinegar, water and spices. Preserved in water and salt by lactofermentation is fermented. I will accept that these recipes are good. However, they do not qualify as authentic Mexican in my book. At 68 years old and living my life in Texas, USA, Mexican food has been a staple for all ethnic groups in Mexican border states. I grew up with many of my friends being Mexican-American. This is not how they cook traditional Mexican food.

Thank you for sharing your perspective and your experience with Mexican cuisine. Don't bring up the title of the video so directly, we are offering alternatives and an idea of what you can make instead of burritos and tacos.
Authenticity in food can vary greatly depending on region, tradition, and personal interpretation. While these recipes may not align with your specific expectations of traditional Mexican cuisine, I appreciate your feedback and respect your viewpoint based on your background and cultural experiences.

    • @dougroberts8647
      @dougroberts8647 9 месяцев назад +28

But your title literally says " Old Mexican trick". Perhaps you shouldn't be so direct if you don't want to be taken directly. "Alternative" or "based on" would have been more correct. You may use ingredients that are in Mexican cuisine but it is not "Mexican". Just because you use chorizo in a recipe doesn't make it Mexican. Don't claim what you don't have. I like your channel but be prepared for the criticism when you mislead people. I cook authentic mexican food but also cheat sometimes and my Mom, who is Mexican, knows when I cheat. And she lets me know the way only a Mom can. You put out a lot of good recipes on your channel and I think you don't need to trick people to come and view your recipes. Keep it real.@@WebspoonWorld
