Merry Christmas! Great case study MisterEpic, it's refreshing to see an analysis of 1.13 from a more nuanced perspective. Part of why 1.13 performed poorly was its huge backend changes and huge scope. Besides the changing of item IDs, Mojang made major changes to how worlds and player interactions worked which meant many systems needed extensive testing. They also took the time to update many outdated technologies (technical debt) which had accumulated significantly by the time 1.12.2 was released. If those technologies weren't updated at the time, Minecraft may still be using really old Java versions and wouldn't work well on newer computers. The side effect of all the changes definitely on the modding community as you pointed out. It was a painful process but a necessary one, from a modder's perspective. Another factor was that the 1.14 content, Village and Pillages, were originally scheduled to be included in 1.13 as well. The sheer amount of content and backend changes combined placed alot of pressure on the development team, and from what I know, they had to limit the scope of the update. A combination of the huge scope, the pressure of last minute changes was that alot of code didn't have the optimisation it needed which led to those issues like you mentioned. Mojang did very well considering the circumstances, and I think sometimes the playerbase tends to underappreciate the complexity behind the scenes of game development. It's great that you're both an advocate and constructive critic of Minecraft, there's not many content creators that uphold this level of detail and quality into this style of content. I've followed your channel for quite a while and you deserve the support you've received thus far. Take a good break this Christmas and best wishes for the New Year. If you need any help with any perspectives from the mod developer side, would be open to have a chat. :)
I can still remember the hype I had back when they announced it, it was like a modpack as an update. Even though everyone else quit years ago at that point I was still playing and hyped. It added more than previous updates and was way higher quality than previous updates. Still my favorite update years later.
Having joined in 1.12.1, 1.13 was my first real update, and I am glad somebody else finally recognized how much of it impact it had on the game's popularity.
I had just finished elementary school when 1.13 came out, so my parents let me get a Minecraft Java account because I thought the update came out on pc before Xbox. I was wrong about that prediction, but the day that the update came out was amazing. I made many worlds exploring the oceans, building things in underwater ravines, the works. While I think it was overshadowed by 1.14 and especially 1.16, it was still a huge and great update.
The moment I saw the polar bears, I realized that couldn't name a single feature added between 1.10 and 1.12. In my head, it just went from Elytra straight to Ocean. I just blanked on minecraft for over a year, and it wasn't until 1.13 came out that people I knew were trying servers again
1.13 is definetly such a good update, used to only really play modded since ver 1.6.4 - 1.12.2, but the vanilla game has so much stuff now, not used mods in years, except performance mods.
Funnily enough, I started playing Minecraft around the time that it "died" and didn't really notice much of a difference between updates (I did get excited about 1.12 though). When 1.13 came out, I had never seen such a large content update before. Interestingly enough, it was also the last version the Minecraft console editions could update to. I remember that was also the first time where I was watching Minecraft videos that weren't half a decade old. Nowadays, I can't imagine Minecraft without 1.13.
I want 1.20 just to be called “The performance update” and it only fixes all of the performance issues and that’s all the content that will revive Minecraft entirely
True, I lost interest in minecraft due to the massive lag it has. I went to playing old versions and it is much better and smoother, I like how limited the game is, it doesn't make you think about how your build is or should look like
@@Alanboss777 I literally have a powerful computer but since the game is not optimised at all and since the game is made in the programming language "Java" the game still has annoying lag spikes and the reason is "Garbage Collection", they can't be bothered to fix that issue apparently so now we have to rely on mods on fabric like Sodium to fix issues like that...
there was one reason why out of all updates, 1.12 had the most popular amongst the modded community, due to how lackluster it was compared to 1.13 it was really easier to modify and had all the old code from older versions that they could use to update their mods, when 1.13 came out, the modding community couldn’t keep up with the changes, that’s when a split of the old and the new had truly brought to the new players and where interested starting then
1.12 is the 2nd most popular update for the modding community. 1.7 is the most popular for modders mainly because it has a lot less features and 1.8 took a long time to release so modders had a lot of time to get comfortable to 1.7
performance and bugs are the reason, not different code. Different code can eventually be worked with, but bad performance and crippling bugs mean 1.13 will never be worth playing ever
@@YounesLayachi while yeah 1.13 was borderline unplayable, the different code took a big impact since by the time modders are nearing to finish porting their code from 1.12 to 1.13, 1.14 was already so close to release
My friends and I with Eigencraft were responsible for some of the most important bug fixes that got into 1.13. I, Xcom, Gnembon, Pokechu22, and several others tackled and fixed some of the most long standing bugs and also provided information on some of the worst performance problems.
3:38 Correction: Ice Plains Spikes were added in 1.7.2, what 1.13 did was revamp the Frozen Ocean (Couldn't generate from 1.7.2 to 1.12.2.), and add a Deep variant for the Frozen Ocean.
1.13 was and still is IMO the biggest update for minecraft made by bedrock. With a lot of new additions. If the cave update had not been split into 3 parts it would be up there. I just hope that 1.20 can get up to that caliber. I mean a version numbered 1.20 should be significant. Though I am keeping my expectations to a minimum.
As someone who started playing at the beginning of the “dark ages”/negative rep phase in 2015 and never really lost interest, 1.13 was an update that served to really hook me onto Minecraft and solidify it as a game that I will be playing for a very long time. The moment I saw coral reefs in my world for the first time (probably running at 10fps on my poor laptop due to the new engine), I knew that the future of Minecraft was looking bright. I really like how major updates these days are so full of content and how the developers seem to have adapted a “go big or go home” mentality. Sure, sometimes the scope gets too large and they can’t fulfill every promise in a single update (see 1.17, 1.19), but at least the final update still gets at least more content than 1.10 and 1.12.
1.13 was the update that really changed everything. It was really the start of Minecraft’s Renaissance. The game has changed so much that for me it’s super different from how it was when I started playing the game over 10 years ago.
Its simultaneously depressing and hilarious how often being freak out and say "the game is dying" or "they're RUINING Minecraft" all the time. Everyone always says that. Every update people freak out saying Mojang is lazy or that the update doesn't add anything of value... But if you step back and look at it, you realize its not a big deal. Minecraft's newer updates just keep getting bigger, and they're always fairly exciting if you don't have tunnel vision and focus on one singular aspect of the game that they "ignored." People need to just _chill._ Its not the end of the world just because didn't add fireflies, or whatever other thing is going on at the time... And I doubt Minecraft is going anywhere anytime soon (anywhere but forward, that is...). Its ridiculous that this sort of complaining has been going on for so long.
Honestly all I want Mojang to add in the coming updates is a way to choose old world generation when creating a world. I miss the old over world but still want to play with new features.
Honestly 1.13 and 1.14 are grouped together because it took so long to update that I just updated to 1.14 instead of 1.13 lol. Amazing update, amazing time to be a minecrafter!
I was quite amazed by how minecraft changed for the better after 1.13. But I ultimately owe it to Philza's hardcore run coming to an end and seeing how he's managed to never be bored of it for 5 years straight for convincing me to start playing minecraft again.
I agree. I was uninterested in Minecraft for years, until I heard of the update aquatic and thought it was so cool, which is what made me regain interest in Minecraft.
I remember being super excited for 1.13, especially the new swiming animation. 3 years before that I saw a video about a modpack or something that had a swimming animation just like that.
1.13 was probably one of the best updates, I didn't like personally 1.14 just cause I think villagers are two op and it added this "grinding" mentality, also it added the new textures which I don't like, nothing interesting was in 1.15, 1.16 was a good update , the caves and cliff updates just tanks performance, I mean I like the cave and mountains but the biome generation just feels off and like Minecraft just feels too complex.
I remember one day I was with my friends they were talking about Fortnite. I tried to bring up Minecraft a game that we loved they told me it was boring and it was for babies. well the next day it all changed I got on my pad and Minecraft updated I have always been interested in sea life so this just made me more interested I asked my mom to see if she could call my friends to come to my house so we could play the new update. They all agreed it was the best sleepover I ever had.
The new system is much better at least. All you gotta do is type in the name of the block you need, and... It's there. Much easier than having to go to the wiki to see the block ID or memorizing them.
I’ll say I never went back to Minecraft like I did in 2012-16, but I enjoyed exploring the worlds and playing when it updated. It certainly saved the game but as an OG player the nostalgia factor of the early game versions is so sweet. Merry Christmas!
I honestly thought 1.16 saved minecraft for me since it added more mid/endgame goals and more fun dungeons to complete. Plus the nether variety made it actually worth exploring. Still waiting on another end update.
@@juusomaenpaa7236 ik you didn't ask me but personally i want the end to become actually interesting to explore. there's not really much to do there, except kill the dragon and get elytra/shulker boxes - much like the pre-1.16 nether. i think it would be really cool to see something like the 1.16 come to the end and add new biomes and structures, maybe new mobs too. just more content to explore and things to do in the end, really.
performance mods are mandatory now, but they make minecraft performance even better than 1.12 Sodium, Lithium, Starlight, and the various entity culling mods, for starters
i remember instantly falling in love with the update when they revealed the ocean biome with a lot of corals, it just looked and still looks so warming
I remember when 1.13 came and I was hyped to get it onto my Xbox 360, this brought me to be excited for 1.14 then I kinda lost it all again. The most painful thing for me was when my friends left minecraft for fortnite during this era (and I was seperated from them sicne I changed my city and on my last phone call in 2019 this was the update from them) and I hated playing fortnite, I would play until I found a lot of more like-minded individuals return after 1.14
I remember when the combat update came out I wanted nothing to do with it - came back to the game around when the 1.13 update relaeased and literally was so fascinated by the aquatic life I spent all my time on my world building the best aquarium possible
1.13 was the reason I got back into minecraft after quitting in 1.7.10. The swimming is just amazing for me and was something I did not think I needed to enjoy minecraft until I actually tried it. That, and 1.14 of course, for changing the graphics and for revamping the village structural designs. It felt like a new game. But more importantly, it made me enjoy playing vanilla as opposed to modded, which I had been burned out of.
I stayed with Minecraft through the dark ages, and honestly that was probably the best times I had playing Minecraft, granted I only started playing like 3 months before 1.9 but still, 1.11 holds a special place in my heart as my to this day favourite update
what did 1.11 even add? shulker boxes, llamas, woodland mansions and pillagers.. thats it. it was considered one of the bad updates of the game, it added nothing.
Update aquatic was what got me back into minecraft. Seeing snapshots of the turtles and tridents aswell as all the other underwater stuff just got me so interested in playing minecraft again.
i remember being super hyped over 1.13, i looked up "1.13 release date" for months before it actually came out, and i remember when i went to open minecraft on the wii u and saw a trident on the main menu, i flipped out and played minecraft for the rest of the day
I absolutely love 1.13, i'm about 14ys old, halfway to 15. The earliest update i can remember was 1.12, i remember thinking "wow minecraft seems so bland" so all i did in 1.12 was literally only the relaxing mining experience, i didn't even make a bed in that world, all i did was mine lol. but then i went to a friends house for a play date, they took out their xbox and started playing minecraft. I was then introduced to 1.13, the update that made me interested in minecraft again.
Yoooo. Shunji is literally my favorite Minecraft track. Only have heard it on bedrock (idk if different tracks play on Java vs Bedrock) but now I mainly play Java and haven’t heard it in ages. Love this
Now I understand why I continue to go back and play 1.12.2 and my personal server is running FTB Revelation 1.12.2. The mods I want were never updated. I've played newer versions and there is some features that are nice, but giving up all my beloved mods that were never updated wasn't worth it for me. Minecraft is great and was great even back then, so I don't have an issue with playing an older version.
Thank you so much for making this video, For many years I have been saying that 1.13 was one of the most important update for minecraft but nobody would listen. This video has brought light onto such a great update.
I remember during the Minecraft dark ages I'd only play modded Minecraft servers, but the second 1.13 got released I was back into Vanilla all of a sudden and was playing on Towny servers like crazy trying to try out all the new stuff
for me my device account was weird and i couldnt update any games for a year straight and it happened right before the aquatic update came out, which sucked at the time
I never really stopped playing Minecraft, I just take extended breaks. If I had to name a favorite update though, it'd probably be caves update. For some reason I no longer get lost in large cave systems thanks to it. On the other hand, my most hated update was when the Nether was added, I still hate needing to go into it just for blaze rods.
Im playing since 2012/13 on all sorts of versions PE Play station X box Mac etc. and I have to say the aquatic update is definitely my 2 second favorite update ever. What really sparked my interest most had to be the cave update. It really made Minecraft feel like a new game while also finally giving us what we wanted for years
I think 1.15 also made a little change 'cause when I played it, it felt a lot more like todays minecraft (the smooth terrain and less lag from tnt explosions, as well as improving the chunk loading a little bit) compared to 1.14 which felt like 1.13 but a lot more upgraded!!
It's crazy to me. I got into Minecraft yt in 2018 (for the first time even after having the game since 2012), starting with grian (I can't think of anyone before that) and I just binged his Evo series. I was apprehensive about watching his new HermitCraft vids just because I didn't want to sink more time into it; I caved tho. And back at like ep 6. Seeing the whole community flourish felt so odd to me. It felt like I'd gotten in just before the flood gates opened.
The feel of the game and updates changed at this point. It was out at the start of the Minecraft resurgence and is a part factor why the resurgence happened in the first place, along with a similarly modern feeling 1.14 boosting it further. They could add anything at this point and it doesn't feel like classic minecraft anymore, but mostly nobody nitpicks on that anymore. I also tend to categorize 1.7 and earlier into the classic minecraft everybody knew, 1.9-1.12 into the middle era, also dark ages, and then 1.8 shares traits from both
I remember when the aquatic update was brought to pocket edition, I was sitting in the doctors office waiting for an eye appointment when I asked my dad to read the update list on the App Store. It said Minecraft update aquatic is swimming its way into Minecraft or something like that this is why it’s my favorite update because Something just stuck with me at the fact that I was able to weird that they were coming in I’m in the oceans being really boring back then before update aquatic, I was scared of squids thinking that they were Enderman.
I think it’s a great transition between what I call standard and new minecraft. Still got new and exciting features but with the old textures and feels (Bonus: old minecraft= alpha-beta, Standard = 1.0-1.12, New= 1.13-1.20
I like playing the new versions, but the sad part is my friends that play Java edition are to afraid of the chat reporting system to play and I have gotten bored of Bedrock again. I really think that chat reporting wouldn’t be so bad if people didn’t overreact so much.
I came back with the nether update, and between that, 1.14 villagers and 1.13 ocean, i was finally impressed. Many of these features we gave up on and just thought theyed never get an update. Now with the caves, mountains and even the biome change command, the future staying consistently optimistic again
Final note. Smaller updates are fine. But being random, underwhelming and inconsistent was the problem. I will never complain about polar bears but i will say they didnt add sharks for literally the exact same reason.
(I apologize in advance for the essay): I honestly had never appreciated this update enough. Sure, I started playing in 1.12, and seeing the new tutorial world with all of the new features, like the realistic fish and swimming animations and especially the shield was pretty cool. But, I didn't care about the new biomes and mobs since I almost never explored oceans. Until a few days ago, when me and two of my friends began a survival. We used a seed we found on RUclips that has, at spawn, a pretty big body of water (don't know if it's a lake, river or ocean) surrounded by mountains. The only way to get out of the area is through a big wooden staircase we built, and we have our bases floating in water. We call it "waterblock", since it's a skyblock but on water. This body of water is full of kelp, tropical fish, corals and coral blocks, drowned zombies with tridents and sea pickles, and since we can't walk or use horses and minecarts, we can only rely on our boats with chests to travel (we each have our own made of different materials to differentiate them, and if someone forgets it, I usually go grab it with a lead since we're on Bedrock). This area has a very nice atmosphere, and it made me *fully* appreciate this update. Sometimes I also go fishing. If you want this seed, it's 599282705 for version 1.20. TLDR: Me and my friends found a seed with a nice ocean.

I came back to the game during 1.12, 1.13 was also the first major-styled update that I got to experience.
Minecraft got me hooked really hard
same i joined in 1.11 or 1.12 (i think 1.12) on pocket edition but 1.13 was what really made me fall in love with the game
The previous updates were so lame, I think only 1.7 can be considered the last massive update before 1.13
@@fosminclorin 1.9?
@@ReallyJTT that one too
I had just finished elementary school when 1.13 came out, so my parents let me get a Minecraft Java account because I thought the update came out on pc before Xbox.
1.11.1 added elytra rocket boosting which you know is a huge feature, in addition to the sweeping edge enchantment
Woodland mansions were pretty big, and shulker boxes were a huge addition that arguably changed the game as much as elytra.
There were also woodland mansions, pillagers, totems of undying, concrete, husks and strays added
@@fayybeu pillagers were added in 1.14
@@YounesLayachi yeah, but they're based on evokers, vindicators, and other variants that were added along with the woodland mansions in 1.11
1.13 is definetly such a good update, used to only really play modded since ver 1.6.4 - 1.12.2, but the vanilla game has so much stuff now, not used mods in years, except performance mods.
True! But I don't think Mojang will do an update just for performance, maybe like 1.15: Performance + A new small feature
@@Syria_Free_Palestine_will_too like the sniffer..
I have a potato laptop so basically
1.16 might be my final stop for now.
there was one reason why out of all updates, 1.12 had the most popular amongst the modded community, due to how lackluster it was compared to 1.13 it was really easier to modify and had all the old code from older versions that they could use to update their mods, when 1.13 came out, the modding community couldn’t keep up with the changes, that’s when a split of the old and the new had truly brought to the new players and where interested starting then
1.12 is the 2nd most popular update for the modding community. 1.7 is the most popular for modders mainly because it has a lot less features and 1.8 took a long time to release so modders had a lot of time to get comfortable to 1.7
@@justanordinaryguy6568 thx for the reminder, it’s also the version my favorite mod, orespawn came out :)
performance and bugs are the reason, not different code.
I, Xcom, Gnembon, Pokechu22, and several others tackled and fixed some of the most long standing bugs and also provided information on some of the worst performance problems.
good to know
3:38 Correction: Ice Plains Spikes were added in 1.7.2, what 1.13 did was revamp the Frozen Ocean (Couldn't generate from 1.7.2 to 1.12.2.), and add a Deep variant for the Frozen Ocean.
1.20 is made for 1.21 so 1.21 is bigger
so end update?
The sculk and ancient city stuff would not be nearly as fleshed out if the update was "not split". part 3 jokes are just plain disingenuous
Why cliffs updates being divided makes it worse?
I think they should it all at once but dividing it definitely don't decrease the quality
As a mc veteran who played mc for more than a decade, 1.13 literally made my friends play the game again.
One feature of 1.13 i dont see many talking about is the trapdoors. It added variants for other wood and letting you place them anywhere
Alpha to Beta: Old Era
1.0 to 1.5: Classic Era
1.6 to 1.8: Golden Era
1.9 to 1.12: Dark Era
1.13 to 1.17: Renaissance Era
1.18+: New Era
i disagree.
1.9-1.12 Dark Era
1.13-1.15 Renaissance Era
1.16-1.18 Golden Age 2.0/Covid Era
1.19+ New Era
This update is where I went from Pocket Edition to Bedrock Edition. It was a big update for me.
1.13 was the update that really changed everything. It was really the start of Minecraft’s Renaissance. The game has changed so much that for me it’s super different from how it was when I started playing the game over 10 years ago.
Wow the Shuniji soundtrack in the back of the video really takes me back to these times! Keep up the great work man!
Minecraft's newer updates just keep getting bigger, and they're always fairly exciting if you don't have tunnel vision and focus on one singular aspect of the game that they "ignored."
People need to just _chill._ Its not the end of the world just because didn't add fireflies, or whatever other thing is going on at the time... And I doubt Minecraft is going anywhere anytime soon (anywhere but forward, that is...). Its ridiculous that this sort of complaining has been going on for so long.
I love how Minecraft went from a survival game, to a PvP game, to a survival game again
Honestly all I want Mojang to add in the coming updates is a way to choose old world generation when creating a world. I miss the old over world but still want to play with new features.
Shoutout to Minecraft content creators during the dark ages, this is why Minecraft was saved from dying.
Honestly 1.13 and 1.14 are grouped together because it took so long to update that I just updated to 1.14 instead of 1.13 lol. Amazing update, amazing time to be a minecrafter!
It wasn’t only the 1.9 update that made Minecraft die it was also because Games like Fortnite PubG and Apex were so popular.
And thankfully that meant the children stopped playing minecraft long enough for us adults to be able to enjoy it again.
I was quite amazed by how minecraft changed for the better after 1.13. But I ultimately owe it to Philza's hardcore run coming to an end and seeing how he's managed to never be bored of it for 5 years straight for convincing me to start playing minecraft again.
I hate it when people show google searches to show the popularity of games
Exactly!
The aquatic update was definitely the start of a new era, i remember coming back just to play that update.
And does anyone else remember the original crafting recipe for the trident? Cause I do, it was so expensive
Lol I remember back when MC was dead, I was an aspiring youtuber but my brother was like "Dude no Minecraft is dead, dont waste your time"
I remember one day I was with my friends they were talking about Fortnite.
At the expense of losing item IDs, half of which I’d memorized up to that point.
A true tragedy.
Not saved but maybe extended it's popularity
Im not sure if it saved Minecraft but it definitely built the revival up even more and capitalized well on everyone being stuck home during lockdown
@irfbjif what would you want from an end update?
@@juusomaenpaa7236 ik you didn't ask me but personally i want the end to become actually interesting to explore. there's not really much to do there, except kill the dragon and get elytra/shulker boxes - much like the pre-1.16 nether. i think it would be really cool to see something like the 1.16 come to the end and add new biomes and structures, maybe new mobs too. just more content to explore and things to do in the end, really.
@@verystrongchild I disagree. The End should be a lonely, creepy and empty place. It wouldn't make sense to add life there.
Tridents are probably the most fun weapon to have in a Minecraft world
i will say that from 1.12- from getting 144fps to getting 50-60 in the same place and is why i dont play much else over 1.12

Im glad we had 1.12, as it was, because it was such a stable version and still is incredible for modding and tech servers.
My favorite feature from 1.13 was the new swimming mechanic as it's the feature I miss the most while playing pre 1.13 versions
I love how in depth you go with all of your videos. You always talk about something intriguing and everyone learns alot from them.
Edit: 6th comment!
who remembers the empty villager houses that have a nice open space inside them now they spawn but not as much and decorated
I remember when 1.13 came and I was hyped to get it onto my Xbox 360, this brought me to be excited for 1.14 then I kinda lost it all again. The most painful thing for me was when my friends left minecraft for fortnite during this era (and I was seperated from them sicne I changed my city and on my last phone call in 2019 this was the update from them) and I hated playing fortnite, I would play until I found a lot of more like-minded individuals return after 1.14
The biggest thing 1.13 did was help the team at Mojang finally feel comfortable enough to move beyond Notch's shadow.
Hmmmmm no
Notch the God
Notch's Apple (Enchanted Golden Apple)
Notch's glitched pig (creeper)
1.13 brought so much of what we love about modern Minecraft, it fundamentally changed the game so much and yet it all felt like it fit there.
3:37 ice spikes had existed for some time previously, but the icebergs were added in 1.13
Very true 👍 I've been looking for somebody who also noticed this.
Didn't even mention the water rework, adding waterlogging and swimming
Phantoms and Vexes are my favorite mobs in Minecraft
11:42 I think you meant to say "icebergs" here. The ice spikes biome was added in 1.7.
The new update mind destroyed what 1.13 make
Just 1.20 feel like olds mincraft updates before 1.13.
I stayed with Minecraft through the dark ages, and honestly that was probably the best times I had playing Minecraft, granted I only started playing like 3 months before 1.9 but still, 1.11 holds a special place in my heart as my to this day favourite update
what did 1.11 even add? shulker boxes, llamas, woodland mansions and pillagers..
thats it. it was considered one of the bad updates of the game, it added nothing.

i remember being super hyped over 1.13, i looked up "1.13 release date" for months before it actually came out, and i remember when i went to open minecraft on the wii u and saw a trident on the main menu, i flipped out and played minecraft for the rest of the day
I absolutely love 1.13, i'm about 14ys old, halfway to 15.
Love this
As someone who played a little back in 2011/2012, minecraft is still such a fun game to play. I’ve recently got back into it am loving it
I feel like after 1.13 it entered the new era of minecraft
Now I understand why I continue to go back and play 1.12.2 and my personal server is running FTB Revelation 1.12.2. The mods I want were never updated. I've played newer versions and there is some features that are nice, but giving up all my beloved mods that were never updated wasn't worth it for me. Minecraft is great and was great even back then, so I don't have an issue with playing an older version.
Thank you so much for making this video, For many years I have been saying that 1.13 was one of the most important update for minecraft but nobody would listen. This video has brought light onto such a great update.
the aquatic update did really make the game so much more alive
9:17 Drowned jumpscare
I remember during the Minecraft dark ages I'd only play modded Minecraft servers, but the second 1.13 got released I was back into Vanilla all of a sudden and was playing on Towny servers like crazy trying to try out all the new stuff
for me my device account was weird and i couldnt update any games for a year straight and it happened right before the aquatic update came out, which sucked at the time
I remember when the first part of the update released on mcpe. Me & my brother were SO hyped! Still one of my favorite updates to this day.
It’s unfortunate people don’t give as much attention to 1.13 as much as they should. It wasn’t pewdiepie, it wasn’t the smps. It was update aquatic
1.13 in my heart. This one update caused my minecraft renaissance.
Still got new and exciting features but with the old textures and feels (Bonus: old minecraft= alpha-beta, Standard = 1.0-1.12, New= 1.13-1.20
as a person who was playing minecraft before 1.13 i still feel a bit nostalgic on the old sea and nether
I like playing the new versions, but the sad part is my friends that play Java edition are to afraid of the chat reporting system to play and I have gotten bored of Bedrock again. I really think that chat reporting wouldn’t be so bad if people didn’t overreact so much.
What were the shaders you used when flying over the coral reefs, it looked so beautiful
I came back with the nether update, and between that, 1.14 villagers and 1.13 ocean, i was finally impressed. Many of these features we gave up on and just thought theyed never get an update.
Now with the caves, mountains and even the biome change command, the future staying consistently optimistic again
And dont get me wrong, its not that i disliked 1.10-1.12, its just some of these features had been a long time coming
Final note. Smaller updates are fine. But being random, underwhelming and inconsistent was the problem. I will never complain about polar bears but i will say they didnt add sharks for literally the exact same reason.
(I apologize in advance for the essay):
I honestly had never appreciated this update enough.
6:55 "1.17 was seen as the biggest update yet"
Smh 1.17 was the worst update we had since 1.12 imo. Horrible with barely any content besides new coloured blocks.
Another goated video.
Thanks for the videos this year and enjoy the holidays (:
I still remember when 1.13 came out. I went straight home from school and started exploring the oceans and it was so fun
