I rarely comment on anyone’s videos, but I gotta say, that was one of the coolest little trains I’ve ever seen. Great job filming, and thanks for sharing!!!!🤘🤘🤘🤘
Glad you enjoyed it! You should also check out the little electric train I filmed in Iowa. The Iowa Traction Railway in Mason City is really cool. I filmed it a few years ago and the locomotives are a hundred years old. Its very rare for freight service like that just like the Dupps
@@JawTooththanks for the balance of Dupps #2 on the Detroit / Toledo & Ironton line.😊 Great you had Scott ( 1960 Gambit ) with you. Some of this five mile track is quite remote. ❤
This line was the former Cincinnati Northern, later New York Central (CCC&StL), Penn Central, Conrail, not DT&I as mentioned. Actually the Cincinnati Northern Wikipedia page provides a good history of this line. This Dupps line is also referred to as Germantown Rail Siding. Thanks
Yep, I did a long comment about this on a previous video concerning this line. I also answered his question about the spur line in Troy and how best to catch a train on it. I don’t think he reads the vast majority of comments
Not former DT&I. DT&I never ran over this line. Former Cincinnati Northern, CCC&STl, NYC, PC, CR. It originally ran to Jackson , Michigan. Severed north of Ansonia , OHIO just after PC. PC/CR ran this as a brachline/bypass line until 1982/83. Only the southern most 5 miles are still down. Some tracks remain in Greeneville.
Real good info. Did you work for the railroad? I grew up in West Manchester and it broke my heart when they tore this line out and one that went through east to west with a diamond right near my house. The two lines were also connected by a wye track. Amtrak used the east and west for a brief time.
NS should have kept it or CSX could have used it as a short cut to Brookville before they took out the old B&O and Pennsylvania Railroad line out from the West side of Dayton all the way to Indy going via Pennsylvania Railroad line or I think Muncie or Marion, Indiana on the B&O.
Part 2 will be pretty cool. I tried to get it finished last night for today, Saturday, but it took too long to download. Sunday will be part 2 so make sure you see Part 1 first!
Jaw tooth, enjoy your show in nh .one the best train show to watch .i love norfe the black cat .i have a black cat to.her name is midnight 15 years old going strong. God bless.
Waited for a long time to see a train on the Dupps branch! Well worth the wait. Thanks for the great shots crossing the road and the bridges. It may be a bit of a come down from the days when it was a main line but it sure makes a lovely sight and a very interesting video. Certainly ranks among your best! Thanks J. T.
Best video ever JT. Looked like a small steam engine disappearing into the cornfield. Would be awesome to see the return with loaded flat cars..thanks.
That was a great video! Industrial railways are my thing. Thank you for enduring the heat and humidity so that this old coot can watch in comfort while my wife is out spending my money.
This video is so cool, not only because of the locomotive, but also the fact that there's another functional 25 Tonner about 20 minutes from my house in Southwest Virginia. And for whatever reason, it has a steam whistle!
I'm quite surprised that they actually managed to shift those two K-class flatcars with a 25-ton critter. Those are big, heavy cars, even empty; it looked like they had to manually disengage the brakes to actually get that giant pile of steel moving. There's something unique about critters and just how amazing a tractive effort, proportionately, those tiny engines have. Ton for ton, they're some of the best pullers out there.
@@JawTooth Oh, I always love seeing critters in action. The big steamers and huge locos like the GEVo get all the glory, but these little locomotives do some of the hardest work, and a lot of industries and workshops still use them to shift small numbers of cars and locomotives around. It's really too bad that Dupps doesn't run much more regular trains; there's a lot of potential there.
The Dupps railroad line was very interesting to view and see, they only use it a few times a year for special things I guess but another great video with cameo appearances by the pets and the slide show of the train, Thanks Jaw Tooth.🤠🐶😸👍 🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🇺🇲💨
Thank you for this splendid video of the Dupps engine dragging the two heavy duty flat cars from the CSX interchange in Carlisle, Ohio to Germantown, Ohio. I enjoyed watching this little engine moving along the former Detroit, Toledo & Ironton Railroad tracks.
super vid sir - thank you. Love those bridge shots, interesting their crossbucks have a yield sign on them too. But the very best part was the beginning where the brakes on the two heavy flats hadn't come off yet - the little engine that could! "I think I can, I think I can...."
I've been to Germantown Ohio outside of Dayton Ohio. I didn't have enough time to stop by the Dupps private railroad 3 years ago!!! I hope to make a return trip to Germantown Ohio in the near future!!!
The critter was having problems moving the flat cars because CSX spotted them cars on the shortline's siding and "Tied them down" they had the hand brakes on, as soon as these guys figured it out, they were able to pull them out. The Big railroads always "Tie the cars down" to keep them from moving by vandals weather etc.
I knew it had to be that, their like man this thing ain’t hitting then Tom Sawyer the brakeman walks back and checks the hand brakes, boom, they roll lol
Surprised that the crew didn't do an air test. The train might be in yard/restricted limits, but if I were on the crew, I would want to be sure that I had working brakes.
wow JT this was an awesome two-part video wow I love it and the animals and the dinosaurs cabooses Thanks and please keep them coming, me and my friends enjoy when you post new videos, and love the old ones also 🙂

NIce little train catch. Definitely rarely see stuff JT. Trackage is the old Big Four. Before that it was Cincinnati Northern in Germantown,OH. Station there predates the CN from 1896 when the Cinncinnati, Jackson and Mackinaw built it!
The only cooler (where have I heard the word “cool” before, lol) video is to catch the Dupps locomotive on that long bridge with the trees and their leaves in their Autumn color glory!! Then, blow up the bridge and watch the engine fall into the water much like the Bridge on the River Kwai!!
I love that there are still a few of these little 25 ton GE end cab units soldiering on around the world. Great catch! It clearly needs help from a safety orange 23 ton GE boxcab to get that train moving. ❤❤❤
Defiantly a great video, that Dupps engine is nothing short of cute!! Probably last thing you'll hear but till recently I'd never heard of DT&I railroad. I thought that you were going to live stream this video yesterday. I watched 1960 Gambit's video of this Dupps switcher locomotive last evening. More than likely, CSX will bring some regular locomotives to pull those loaded flat cars of rendering equipment to their main line, because the Dupps switcher locomotive wouldn't have the strength to pull those loaded flat cars to the main line. It barely had to pull those flat cars empty. I hope3 you can catch the load being pulled out of there once the flat cars are loaded. Interesting video of a seldom used railroad siding.
Yes, really cool video. If a defect detector said 18 axles, I would have thought 6 axle engine and 3 cars so real unique train. I started watching 1 hour after you dropped the video and you already had 1,679 views. You are popular. Thanks for sharing. 👍
