For all it's Pop feel and sound, the lyrics tell a darker story. Kinda wish you'd not been texting and caught that aspect of it. 🤷🏽‍♂️😁
Back to George's solo career, check out the Jazzy Ballad, Kissing a Fool. 🔥🔥 It wasn't a huge hit, but it should have been!!! It's one of those you can listen to on repeat.

    George Michael: IMHO The best.
A Different Corner(my personal fave song, ever, by any artist)
Jesus To A Child (written about his partner that died from AIDS related complications, his entire album, Older, is dedicated to him)
    One More Try
Fast Love (If possible watch video, it's amazing)
Freedom 90 (Video is STUNNING! TOP models of 90's featured. It's an autobiographical song, watch his video for Faith first and at least one Wham! video to put the lyrics into better context)
    Monkey
    Praying For Time
Spinning The Wheel, great jazzy number with a powerful message about HIV/AIDS.
Somebody To Love (from the Freddie Mercury tribute concert. He KILLED it. )
Outside (Personally love this one just for the sheer balls shown by making a song about his own arrest)
White Light (Which to be honest, since his death, breaks my heart every single time, as does Last Christmas)
    Waiting For That Day
    Older
    Heal The Pain
I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me) his duet with Aretha Franklin. (He was a powerful duet partner. He knew how to let the others shine, from Whitney Houston, Mary J Blige, Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney, the list is impressive.)
...ummm, basically his entire catalogue. LoL
    Wham!:
    Club Tropicana
    Young Guns (Go For It)
    Everything She Wants
Wham Rap! (Enjoy What You Do)
    Where Did Your Heart Go
    The Edge Of Heaven
    Battlestations
I'm Your Man (Extended Stimulation Remix, I love the cheeky bit they added in the car part)

I was a huge fan of wham in the 80s and I was in my late 20s. I went to see wham in Houston and was much older than most of the crowd. I didn't care!!! absolutely loved them. Continued to be a fan when George went solo. He and his music are greatly missed. You should do more research on him as he was a very giving person. He donated to many individuals in need as well as many charities.

I'm Your Man and The Edge of Heaven are also awesome and if you love Careless Whisper, you'll also love A Different Corner. And if you didn't hear it at Christmas time, Last Christmas is also a huge hit of theirs you hear every Christmas without probably even knowing it's Wham!

This song & Careless Whisper are my two favorites from WHAM. I remember when this duo first hit the MTV scene. While most folks were hot for George, I liked Andrew more. Be sure to check out some of George's solo recordings such as Faith, I want your sex, One more try, & Father figure - they were all huge hits on MTV & on the music charts. One of my favorites from George as a solo artist was a duet he did with Aretha Franklin in 1986 titled "I knew you were waiting" - amazing & powerful vocals from both!

  • @BardOfAndromeda

I grew up in the 80s (was aged 6-16 then). It really wasn't just about Michael Jackson & Madonna musically, although of course they both loomed large. It's a bit like saying America equals Disneyland. They represented the big money US market, but not everyone oriented towards that. And especially if you were in the UK like me, we had our own 80s colossuses in the prime of their careers like Queen, Phil Collins, Elton John, Dire Straits, Duran Duran, George Michael & Wham, Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, Culture Club, Pet Shop Boys, The Cure, The Smiths, Def Leppard etc ... Paul McCartney still making solo hits ... and plenty of excellent high-selling acts that most reactors have barely discovered yet like Nik Kershaw, Howard Jones, Paul Young, New Order, Alison Moyet, Erasure. Definitely worth checking out if you like the 80s sound! :D

Careless Whisper was one of the first songs George wrote. He had the demo recorded when Wham was approaching the record labels trying to get a deal. It was deemed to sophisticated for wham's target audience and it shows George was a lyrical genius from a early age! You should check out " I knew you were waiting for me" a duet with Aretha Franklin. I'm sure Aretha wouldn't do a duet with just anyone. So that says something about George's talent.

George was a very mature songwriter, but also had a lot up his his sleeve. He released it all when he went solo. Keep listening you’re going to love his music . A couple of Wham! reactions you could also do is Wake me up Before you Go Go and I’m Your Man. Great fun tracks. Did you know that Wham! started out as a white rap group? It really was fun to be a teenager in the 80's. I saw MJ (first time of 10 at 4 years old), Prince (first time of 18 at 16 years old), Wham, Madonna, Bruce, Duran Duran, Oingo Boingo... Working at a record store in L.A. with a Ticketmaster in it (at 17/18 years old) was just bananas. A ticket of $25 was expensive at the time (minimum wage was $3.35/hr when I got hired lol). More than half of the staff in our store were kids fresh out of high school and we had so much fun together. After closing on Friday and Saturday nights (at 11 pm), we'd sometimes hang out later (getting a Duralog from another store in the shopping center earlier) and then go to the beach. We were just friends enjoying being friends. And then one night, George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley dipped into the Fatburger restaurant two doors down after we closed. They were on their way to LAX and were hungry. We were friends with the guys who worked there (so they alerted us) - and then we girls appropriately freaked the hell out lol. They came into the store, signed stuff, and were just so cool. It took a long time for me to realize that my first job was the most fun job I'd ever have.

@@rowanmayfair9249 Oingo Boingo's "Dead Man's Party" album will always one of my favorite things I was exposed to while working in that store. When we got new stuff (or when customers requested it), we were allowed to just play it. My musical tastes just exploded while working in that store.

Yes, it's time now to listen to Wake me up before you go-go. Please, sit down, you will have a surprise, almost like Careless Whisper ..

I'll say it again. One of the best pop songs of the 80s. Too bad you missed half of the song writing text messages 😁

Patty-I remember Andrew wanted to go into acting, so the split worked for both of them. The story of this song is about a break up. I never thought it was fun. Maybe i missed something. The music is great.

George Michael "One More Try". Wham is ok but Geroge by himself is spectacular
