He was already very well-known by the time this song came out. A fun Wham song is "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go," and I LOVE George's solo song "Faith". Also "Praying for Time" and his duet of "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" with Elton John. He and Freddie Mercury were friends, and George performed "Somebody to Love" with Queen at Freddie's memorial concert, considered the best of the show.

Stay on this artist. He was a rare breed. He could sing, dance, produce, play and is perhaps the greatest live vocalist you may ever hear. His writing is his greatest gift if you can believe it. Following his death people started coming forward with tales of his quiet philanthropy estimated to be over 50 million to charities and individuals that are in need. He was slated by his record company Sony to be a heart throb pop star. He fought for his art and integrity turning his back on multi millions to be a writer of thoughtful songs that met his personal standard and message that he needed to express. He was an all time great Please review One More Try, Kissing a Fool, or Jesus to a Child. Then you will have a glimpse of understanding who he was.

This is my favorite artist of all time. He was apparently the kindest, most gentle soul. I think
because of that, he was very vulnerable to those things that could harm him. He felt pain and sorrow so deeply that it was difficult for him. He wrote the most beautiful amazing songs of all time. I read he was most proud of getting inducted into the song writer's hall of fame in his home country and winning 6 Ivor norvello song writing awards. Andrew said when he was inducted into the Hall of Fame, his combined sales of Wham and solo career was 150 million. That is no small feat. This is a talent that comes along once in a lifetime. As elton john said he was the paul mccartney of his era. There isn't a day I don't listen to his music. There's always something for the Heart and for the Feet. ❤

He broke a lot of hearts when he came out of the closet, which he did in a rocketship. George was a perfectionist. If he wasn’t completely happy with a song he changed it or he didn’t release it. Careless Whisper was the number 1 song of the whole year back in 1985. (Madonna’s like a virgin was the 2nd.)

Now you have to check out his track 'Freedom' and watch the video. He never appears in the video, but the absolute cream of the crop of the golden age of 90s supermodels stand in and lipsync the song.

"Wham!" were so amazing. My best friend and I were crazy about all their music. There was a documentary on Wham on Netflix recently. Andrew and George were best friends from school and were incredibly close for many years. You should really check out their music and George's solo albums.

I was asked to join a cabaret group to sing this song. When they said "Careless Whisper," I said I didn't know the song. They said "yes you do," I put the song on, heard the first second of that sax, and said"oh yes I do!!" I did join the cabaret!

Go back to a tv show called “Eli Stone”. It was a tongue in cheek show about a guy who starts hearing things in his head and one of the conduits is George Michael…appearing in his mirror at home. Also his duet with Aretha Franklin is PHENOMENAL…”I Knew You Were waiting”. Check it out!!!

George Michael and Andrew Ridgley were just teenagers when they formed WHAM! in 1981. The duo had a number of hit records both in the UK and the US by the time Michael began his solo music career. Some WHAM! songs/music videos that you might want to react to, are “WHAM! Rap”, “Bad Boys”, “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go”, “I’m Your Man”, “Freedom” (not to be confused with “Freedom ‘90”, which was a completely different song released by George Michael years later), and “Everything She Wants”.

George Michael came out as gay in 81. Everyone knew it. He didn't have to say it. He said in anterview once, " seems like everyone knew I was gay except the media." My favorite song He did is " Kissing a fool." You have to listen to it in the dark with a good cigar like your in a lounge. There is a guy on RUclips that walks into train stations, college classrooms and wherever breaking out with this sax riff .

He didn’t officially come out as gay until 96. ( I think)- it was after he was arrested for his bathroom playtime. He said he did it to force his outing, but I’m not sure that’s true or just an excuse. Even after coming out- years later, he still admitted to liking cruising even though he was dating Kenny Goss.
He originally thought maybe he was bi. He was attracted to women and had sex with women. But when he fell in love with a man, he realized he could never feel like that towards a woman. So he stopped sleeping with them because he felt bad and AIDS was such a risk. It was still a decade or more before he actually came out. But the speculation came out of him not having a girlfriend for so long.

@wanderlustworldschooling543 , funny story. My brother in law heard that and said.." Man , I did not see that coming!" I responded, " You wouldn't see it if you got hit in the eye with it then."

This wonderful song style is similar to the songs of Sade ( Sha-DAY) who you MUST react to. She’s a Nigerian/Brit songstress who’s talented and sexy like George. “ Smooth Operator”. ❤Same era.
