@@rowanmayfair9249 Are you for real? I wasn't trying to "correct" you, I was actually trying to simplify it! Are you really that sensitive? I actually thought you would appreciate it! Sheesshh! We obviously both appreciate the band!
INXS was an amazing band! This song is one of my favorites. It's crafted nearly perfectly, with the building dynamics both with Michael Hutchence's vocals and the instruments. The video was shot in Prague and it's one of the most beautiful videos of all time, IMO. It perfectly matches the vibe of the song.
Looked like it had a Soviet style guard too. Fascinating to see a video from there in this period. It no longer Czechoslovakia. I assume it now the two countries of Slovakia and Czech Republic but have no idea when that happened.
@@shaundgb7367 They have amazing culture food and beer there at great prices lol Also the clock tower is worth checking out. The people are cool and fun.
New Sensation from INXS next! They use sax a fair amount. In the late 80s into the 90s, they were one of a handful of bands/artists at the TOP of the world, period. This is their slowest song, they usually have upbeat stuff. Also any song from their Wembley Stadium show, they're phenomenal live.
One of the biggest bands in the world at this time. The song is brilliant and the video, shot in communist Czechoslovakia, is so beautiful. 20 years of hits to keep you busy!
Others will tell you how its pronounced and you will soon know because they were massive in the late 80s with a lot of hits. Biggest band in the world at that time. The lead singer was the man every woman wanted to be with, and every man wanted to be. He is the closest i've seen to the phenomenon that was Jim Morrison. INXS ended with Hutchence's death...even though the band didn't want to accept that fact.
The mispronouncing of IN EXCESS happens all the time. This band was outstanding in concert. They got together in high school and played from teens, for a good 20 years AKA ‘The Band Of Brothers’ . They were so innovative coming out in the 80s at the VERY start-up of MTV and CRUSHED IT with top notch music videos- So impressive, young in their 20’s they became the top MTV buzz in that channels infancy. Even Mick Jagger / Rolling Stones phoned them up for assistance to help them create a good video! Their album KICK came out and NEED YOU TONIGHT played constantly on MTV! So did NEW SENSATION and DEVIL INSIDE and DEVIATE. Their largest performance was infamous in 1991 at Wimbley Stadium - They stole the show during a multi band playing event! Please react to WHAT YOU NEED and NEW SENSATION from 1991 at Wimbley. The band was on FIRE. So fun and cool in free form style. They rocked the house down🔥🔥🔥 Their infectious creativity came to a sudden down turn immediately following the lead singer suffering a brain injury in 1992, after a street scuffle with a taxi driver. They still played but free spirited and wild MH was never the same and unfortunately mentally spiraled into depression, severe anxiety, prescription drug and alcohol addiction. A really terrible combo, crippling he’s ability to properly reason. To this day, I wish someone could have intervened somehow to help his mental state of mind and save him from unplanned and abrupt self destruction during a high anxiety tizzy fit while alone and high in a hotel room. He had it all in the palm of his hand. ✌🏼❤️
Tons of great songs! Yes, their sax player is off the chain in all the songs he's in it which is most of them. "New Sensation", "I Need You Tonight", "Suicide Blonde" - if you haven't checked them out yet... and more!
Michael Hutchence was electric on stage, like he had a handful of stars in his back pocket and in his front pocket, too. I saw them twice in concert. Next up listen to Suicide Blonde.
INXS has a lot of songs with kickass saxophone and horns in general. “What You Need” and “New Sensation” have really strong horns and they are straight bangers. Phenomenal band that you really can’t go wrong with. By the way, the video was shot in Prague, as was the video for “New Sensation.”
Please check out another of INXS's songs, The Gift. They ask you to play it loud and of course you just have to. It is my absolute favourite song from this great group.
INXS=In Excess you should check out What You Need live at Wembley Stadium 1991. I do love this video but I prefer the live performances so much more RIP Michael Hutchence still loved and desperately missed 😭🙏🏻💔😭🙏🏻💔
inxs is pronounced in excess, like an excess of something, like michael's talent/charisma etc etc. michael is the best there was, is and ever will be . love you hutch.
I'm an Aussie woman & this is my era. Yeah I agree with you the song is good (not my fave) but there are OTHER bangers so don't stop with IN-eXceSs Aka INXS 😄
Their list of hit songs was in excess )INXS) of many other artist of the time. Get it now? look up their other songs, their list of monster hits is huge and they were destined to be bigger than the Beatles. THen Michael died, do a search and read about how he died, I won't go into it here. New Sensation would be my favourite.
Filmed in Prague mate. My dad was born in Czechoslovakia. Told his mum he was going to the pub, he ran away to Australia. It was safer if she didn't know. The pub was under 200 yards from the front door....
Wow, what a story. Did he let her know when he got to Australia what he was really doing? I remember tennis player Ivan Lendl came from there. Think there was a female tennis player, Hanna Mandlikova from there too.
@shaundgb7367 Ivan Lendl came from a town about 17km or a bit over 10 miles away. He got in touch about a year later. His mum came out to Australia at least 4 times. It was OK to come back for visits by the late 70's. He came here in 1968. I lived over there in the same house that dad grew up in with my grandma when I was 16. Great times.
The misspronounciation of INXS had me giggling😂. As many have already said, its IN- EXCESS. the name was created to represent the excessively oppulent rock stae lifestyle of the 80's
Love In Excess (I giggled every time you said Inks, but appreciate the effort!) Anyway, recently Bob Bryar from My Chemical Romance passed away, and I was wondering if you could react to "Welcome to the Black Parade" in his honor. It's a GREAT SONG and I think you will love it.
IN EXCESS - INXS

If you look at it, it does look like a correction. I was just calling it. I also did it that way to show why it was I N X S.
Also it’s not NEVA it’s Never
INXS is a rabbit hole...worth exploring

Proud BOOMER who's Parents experienced WW2.
I saw them in concert twice-Incredible! That man can rock a catwalk like nobody's business:)
The music video for INXS's "Never Tear Us Apart" was filmed in Prague, Czechoslovakia in 1987

As far as i am concerned, INXS was done when Hutchence died. They were the biggest band in the world in the late 80s along with U2.
RIP Michael Hutchins
Great band !!
Hutchence rip
In Excess was a pretty good description of our attitude in the 80's, I was in my 20's.
Turned 21 two weeks before the start of 1980 myself and I totally agree!
Been digging this band since late 80's

INXS; Live Wembley Stadium - my favourite live music concert video - the best
I watched this concert when it came out on DVD and it was live!

I love it when people get Stank Face when the sax kicks in!
Recommend Need You Tonight/ Mediate. These two songs were paired together on MTV for their music video.
Great reaction a proud aussie fantastic band
Love it 😊
What you need. LIVE AT WEMBLEY. The band at their best.
Mystify and Need You Tonight ❤🎉

Crowded House is a Kiwi band with several Australian members

It was Prague. Not Budapest

It's Garry Gary Beers yes but there is s story to it 😊
Michael Hutchence was a hugely charismatic front man so the Robert Plant comparison makes sense.
Need to review one of their songs from them playing Wembley. You can then see the talent and energy from the band live and Hutchinson.

It's pronounced as if it were spelled "in excess." You are not alone in mispronouncing it on first sight, trust me. ;)
