I met Michael and the band a couple of times in the 90s, and was fortunate enough to be onstage for a song during their Dirty Honeymoon tour. They pulled fans from the line and had us illuminate the stage with high-powered flashlights during one of the songs. We got shirts that said “INXS Lighting Crew” and everything. A memory I’ll always cherish.
I saw INXS in Melbourne, Australia, a lot of skateboarding on stage and at one time Michael jumped into the crowd and lying on the floor, girls were ripping his clothes off while he was singing. In a panic, you could see many security guards trying to get to him, the security guards carried him back on stage and he continued singing as normal. Michael was a born entertainer
I went to see INXS in the 1980s to 90s and always loved their music. I recently saw a billboard in Melbourne OZ where I live stating that INXS will be teaming up with another great Aussie singer Jon Stevens later this month. It's been 27 long years since Michael died and he is still sadly missed. 👍🤗
Michael hutchence is everything to me. you have no idea. I cry still to this day about his loss. imo, he was/is/always will be the best frontman in history. I didn't see them live. I tried waiting in line for hours, sold out before we got tickets, but you have the best live concert ever recorded to watch. You haven't lived until you've seen it. I couldn't suggest live baby live more, and yes, they are better live than in studio.
I saw INXS live in Melbourne four times. Every time they toured I saw them. Loved them so much. Even got to briefly meet Michael at the rear of the venue as they left. Michael came out and shook some hands before he got into the limo.
Hahaha Michael is still making girls swoon from the grave 😂 This has to be one of the best and perfect ballads ever written. It's beautiful in its simplicity, many cover this song, but most over sing it. Taking away it's essence and beauty. As far as favourite track? Impossible to say, so many. Some favourites: What You Need, New Sensation, Elegantly Wasted, Taste It, Kill the Pain, Johnson's Aeroplane, Shine Like it Does, Melting in the Sun, + About 20 more! I was lucky enough to see them live 5 times. 4 with Michael and of course once with JD Fortune. All times were amazing.
So true. Lucky you, seeing them in concert. They were my favourite band until I discovered Jimmy Barnes and from him Cold Chisel. I also loved everything from the Listen Like Theives and Kick albums. Even their early Shabooh Shoobah album was fire 🔥
Anything by INXS is awesome I can’t choose a favorite love them all. Devil Inside Elegantly Wasted Need you tonight What you need Taste it New Sensation Disappear Mystify Suicide Blonde The Gift Listen like Thieves Don’t change Beautiful Girl So many more. Good Times with another Australian legend singer Jimmy Barnes.
RIP Michael Hutchence. His voice is smooth but powerful, and he was a charismatic front man, who oozed sexiness. 🔥 It is Kirk Pengilly on sax, and yes, he also plays guitar.🎸 Gary Gary Beers on bass. Then you have the Farriss brothers, Andrew on keys and guitar, Jon on drums, and Tim on lead guitar 🎸. Saxaphone was a huge part of Aussie music, found in lots of other bands here, including Cold Chisel. I have just been to a 50th anniversary concert and Andy Bickers played both sax and baritone sax. Very nice. The Men At work song, Who can it be now, also had a sax in it. Joe Camilleri or Jo Jo Zep also played sax. Australia used a lot of different instruments in many of their songs, including the Didgeridoo, bagpipes, recorder (Fraternity), and flute (Men At Work). Brilliant musicians. Oh, and we usually get people to look at live songs. INXS were masters on the stage.
Oh Kazz...close...but no cigar.Pingelly is a place in the south west of WA. Pengilly is Kirk's surname. And while I'm on this pedantic trail, it's Garry Gary Beers - just like beers, you can never have too many Garry/Garys.
I can't pick a favorite tbh. You could play pin the tail on the setlist with these guys and literally pick ANYTHING blindfolded from the live at Wembly show in 91 and be completely floored. One of the greatest live acts that ever existed, and yes, I got to see them live at MSG in NY for that tour. It was everything you could imagine it would be. Maybe Check out Lately from the Live Baby Live show for starters. Absolutely amazing. Also, since she enjoyed the sax solo, you should maybe introduce her to Rio, by Duran Duran.
Agreed, Music Magazine called them the best live band in the world at this time. Yea Lately at Wembley is so good. Never really appreciated it on the album, was good but didn't stand out. Live is where it absolutely came alive!
Remember those Columbia Records deals where you could get like 12 albums for a penny (and a subscription for life)? I got Listen Like Thieves as one of my first albums. I immediately went and got all the earlier albums and have been a huge fan ever since. I did see them live in Albany, NY and will never forget the experience. Favorite song? "Falling Down the Mountain".
Same! I never saw them with Michael, but saw them in 2006 with JD and they were fantastic! This was before JD had totally screwed up and he did a great job, but no one can ever replace Michael. My (ex) husband and I had such a good time at the Memphis show that we bought tickets and planned to see them a few months later in Dallas-driving from central Arkansas-but by then I was pregnant and REALLY sick.
Saw INXS at Rod Laver Arena in the early 90's. Probably the Suicide Blonde Tour (?). From memory, it was a very good show and we had great tickets. They're a polished outfit. In terms of great Aussie LIVE acts, i'd rate them behind Midnight Oil, AC/DC and Cold Chisel. The Oils arguably the best !
hi just subbed and liked from australia, i bet you'd both like to hear the song i believe gave birth to pure rock in australia, mama by billy thorpe and the aztecs, live on gtk
He was such a talent. Thank you for showcasing our beloved INXS 🇦🇺❤

@@jase0910 that's awesome 😎
Gotta love Michael; such a poetic and talented musician. He wrote the lyrics and melodies. Best frontman ever.
Yes, I did see them live. I was a bouncer at a few of there concerts. The experience is something I treasure. This song is my favourite.
This is my favorite INXS song! Love Michael's vocals and delivery as well as the band's instrumentals.
You'd better love it, that's an Aussie band right there.

I saw INSX live twice. Both times in London. 1985 and 1987. Outstanding!

I love the Stairs. Live at Wembly is so good. Also, What You Need at Wembly is great!

This song is sung by the crowd at the start of the Port Adelaide AFL (Australian Football League) home games.
Rip Michael
Great reaction thanks!

@jemxs it's SO good. ❣️
If you want to witness Michael in awe of another musician you should react to INXS and Jimmy Barnes singing “goodtimes”

Never Saw Him Live But Did See Them Tour With J.D. & My Favourite Is Suicidal Blonde!!
