Thanks for reacting to our Aussie nusic. John Farnham is the GOAT and our living legend. Jimmy Barnes is the Rock, Blues and Soul King. We have some phenomenal talent downunder. John Farnhams Whislering Jack is still the highest selling album by an Aussie artist in Autralia from 1986. Youre the Voice is still the highest selling single in Australian Histiry and was No 1 in Europe. Cold Chisel is touring at the moment for their 50th Anniversary and they are still just as good. Aussie music is just the best and we have had the best live bands as well. Listen to Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham performing When Something is Wrong with my Baby, live in 1991, with Johnny Diesel - fantastic !!

Most of the early stuff included covers of songs from around the world. So many superstar groups and bands have done well here and. Not transcended across the world. Some notable bands not mentioned here include Little River Band, Air Supply, The Bee Gees (yes they come from The Isle of Man, but their name was suggested by an Australian DJ when they were living here). Female vocalists Olivia Newtown John, Tina Arena, Delta Goodrem, Kate Ceberano, and throw in Jimmy Barnes Daughter, Mahalia, with Joe Bonamassa singing Riding with Kings and Nasty Girl. Ummm, I was convinced that Bee Gees, even Stayin Alive, had to be no.1. How could he leave them out, because he doesn't consider them an Australian band? AC/DC were included, and now Jimmy twice, effectively (another Scot). So he wasn't born in Australia, nor John Farnham or Gotye. Colin in Men at Work, The Easybeats (Dutch and Scottish, George being the older brother of Malcolm and Angus from AC/DC).
There is no way you can leave out Bee Gees, it's a non argument. In fact, they are right there with AC/DC as our greatest exports/imports, probably only second to AC/DC on records sold.

Hi Vick. Australia has great musicians in various genres. But of course I have to mention the history of Australian music goes back thousands of years.
But I want you to know that Australia has high voltage electric power. It's 240 volts. It's the reason for the safety switches.
And that's why the band AC⚡DC has a song High Voltage.
"High voltage rock 'n roll" 🤘😀

This in a general list and not official. It is missing some quite big songs. The problem is, this list needed to be about 100 to not miss any big songs. Australia is an entertainment powerhouse. A lot of the biggest actors are originaly Australian or got their start in Australian movies or TV shows. Huge Jackman (The Greatest Showman, Wolverine), Nicole Kidman (Moulin Rouge), Kate Blanchett (Lord of the Rings, The Aviator), Russell Crow (Gladiator, A Beautiful Mind), Mel Gibson (Leathal Weapon, Braveheart), Margott Robbie (Barbie Movie, Wolf of Wall Street), Sam Worthington (Avatar, Terminator Salvation), Chris Hemsworth (Thor and Star Trek), Heath Leadger (The Dark Night, A Knights Tail), Hugo Weaving (The Matrix and Lord of the Rings), Eric Banna (Hulk and Chopper), Joel Edgerton (The Great Gatsby and Animal Kingdom), Guy Pearce (LA Confidential, Pracilla Queen of the Desert), Geoffrey Rush (Pirates of the Caribbean, The Kings Speach), Naomi Watts (King Kong, Mulholland Drive), Rose Byrne (Brides Maids and Bad Neighbours), Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect and Brides Maids), Isla Fisher (Wedding Crashers and Now You See Me) Toni Collette (The Sixth Sense and Knives Out) and Paul Hogan (Crocodile Dundee movies). Paul Hogan as Mick Dundee put Australia on the international map. Well AC/DC made it big in America first but Crocodile Dundee made Australia mega famous. The Bee Gees started their career in Australia but are considered more British. You need to check out Cold Chisel. Australian Rock royalty. They are defiantly the number one music artists in Australia. They have been going for about 50 years. As Aussie music industry and tv legend Molly Meldrum would say. Do Yourself a favour.
