This mod started off really promising with the whole going off to fight for the ncr against the legion. But then a orbital strike happens and then there’s a space ship and then you go TO FUCKING SPACE and you know what FUCK IT ZOMBIES TOO oh yeah and lizard rape
It's simple. Courier is on hard drugs and his reality is distorted to the point of making him hear how NCR troops are praising him. Then he dies from an orbital strike and everything that happens afterwards is a purgatory made of all the stuff he have seen, heard and experienced before, mashed together as his brain lives its last moments. I hope that explains it.

It especially doesn't work when you don't account for the fact that literally no Courier is a legendary demigod at level 12. this is one of the complaints i've had on an "optimal" playthrough you can usually hit level 11 before novac so the fact you can just get auto-fellatioed as "the courier of legend" when all you've done is recover from being shot in the head is so fucking stupid

It's funny, for a mod that they claimed adhered to the lore of Fallout, they sure took Fallout's unique 50's retrofuturism style and completely removed it, turning it into another generic modern post apocalyptic FPS just with the New Vegas engine.
Agreed. I haven't touched this mod but it looks like CoD, not Fallout. New California had its issues but was more respectful to the series. Autumn Leaves fits perfectly into Fallout. The Frontier looks like a well polished turd

The writing really just resembles a war movie. No weird fetishes or anything just a bit more call of duty than usual. Only weird part is how everyone knows the courier from the begining but like i explained before by level 4 i was reaching new vegas and had already punched deathclaws to submission while taking the highway everyone tells you not to take. Plus you can use the route benny took to kill you and its pretty easy with very few hostiles it even comes with easter eggs of benny and each stop he took before reach goodsprings including a map and a grave made by and for someone in the comics.

Okay the bit at 25:06 where the weird scary doctor reveals you're trapped in a compactor, crushes you and your friends, then he and his giant minions force you to choose who dies is *straight up* the end of the first mission in Wolfenstein: The New Order. It's not just close - it's literally ripped straight from it, just done in a much jankier way.

This mod is essentially the Cyberpunk of the modding community nearly down to a science A over exaggeration of how cool one of the protagonists are, a massive amount of pent up sexual aggression from one writer being pumped into the world building, the ability to literally see in the game when things were being written because they just ripped it from the thing the dev lead just played or watched, an over ambitious attempt to add more mechanics and gameplay types than the scope of the game can handle, an incredible amount of bugs, tho in this mods case that was a free space due to the engine and lastly, they both somehow managed to simultaneously feel like they were in the oven for too long and not long enough at the same time

A large chunk of the mod was rushed over the span of a few months because quite literally the entirety of the original dev team dropped it half way through for half a year or so before a new dev team came in. Additionally whats equally hilarious is a lot of the writing thats in there comes from the original dev team, so you cant even say that the OGs were doing any better. This mod straight up makes the writing for Duke Nukem Forever actually look decent.
The Crusaders' questline is...all right. It's passable, tolerable even - probably because it's the shortest. Laughable caveat, by the way: all the shit the NCR Exiles "can't do without you"...they fucking do, anyway.

The issue is the inverse happens all the time too IE I just went and saved half the Mojave, went to Dead Money, Walked the lonesome road and nuked the legion and ncr both... Are you SURE I am not strong enough to carry extra stuff into Zion Jed? Now granted that is DLC interaction which obsidian did express they had to adopt the bethesda "no crossover" effect of DLC at that time, but still. While it is annoying we have to deal with praise especially when it is undeserved due to not having done anything on the story yet, it is a damned if you don't if you don't acknowledge it. So I get why they did push the praise angle as default because so many other places don't acknowledge you who you are.

A compiled list of every major complaint/issue with Fallout: The Frontier: -Feet fetish/joke -Lizard sex fetish/joke -Deathclaw sex fetish/joke -Emotional abuse of a child (across multiple characters, all female) -one of the head artists draws underage pornography -awful, awful, lore-breaking, fan fiction style writing -enormous segments that were not playtested/reviewed by anyone besides the one person in charge of making that specific part -removed the Enclave, comparing them to 'alt right nazis'. A trifecta blow of giving your political opinion, comparing something to hate speech, and breaking major lore within one sentence -completely bashed and negated any constructive criticism/jokes made on initial forum posts questioning parts of the mod -admitted to not communicating with writers between questlines/storylines, essentially allowing story writers to do whatever they wanted without any proofreading/fact checking. This also apparently lead to delusions of grandeur with some story writers attempting to take the mod hostage by forcing the lead developers to let them write their lore-breaking fantasy on top of the main quest -very very braggadocios, 'in your face' attitude from the developers until the media came down on them, to which they ate their own words and apologized like hypocrites instead of being straightforward about their mod, like they acted in the first place (I.E. telling your friends about your new girlfriend, but when asked for information you just say: 'she goes to another school') -alot of things that weren't key features (Driving, new weapons/maps, voice actors) were completely underdeveloped or not checked by play-testers, to the point where it feels like half the content in the mod has been installed individually, by people who weren't working on the same concept or idea This mod could've been great, had it actually been reviewed and playtested. 7 years
Its nice to see someone actually makes the distinction that he just doodled underage porn. Though, while he was a 'lead' artist, he was only a lead artist over GUI and thats it, which really wasnt that big of a thing, something that even he and several other devs admitted. Regardless, you should also add in 'Total dev change' since the OG devs dropped the mod entirely and developement only continued after the new devs came in, and they did a rush job of finishing all of the stuff that wasnt finished (which was pretty much everything if sources are to be believed) in just a few months, which really only further adds to your argument that it could have been better if it was reviewed and playtested.
Man as someone who agrees the enclave are canonically fascists, I cannot understand how someone could think removing them from the Frontier is any way coherent. Like... Roleplaying as evil is fun, and so is having an interesting bad faction. Like not every remnant in FNV is a bad person, but the boys at the enclave leadership certainly are. The fact they have arguments for why they do and believe what they do is really entertaining.

Edit: I have learned "America" is actually at the very least over 18, revealed by a note about her 18th birthday having passed. This does not excuse the sexual and emotional abuse though. The short answer to your question is yes. Absolutely. There are four fetish gimmicks in the game 1. Wild Wasteland and Legacy Content: In Fallout 2 if you lose a arm wrestling contest with a super mutant, he straight up rp's you and your character wakes up with a ball gag in their inventory. So The Frontier has 3 things kind of like that, albeit tamer. All three of these are skippable without consequence, and are not attached to any kind of quest/level/plot progression. 2. America Fuck Yeah: The Sex Slave you own in FO3 Clover, has a counterpart in FOFrontier named America. Unlike Clover she puts a slave collar on willingly after you pass 3 or 4 speech checks. This is skippable and has severe in world consequences. 3. The New Ghouls: You need not suffer a lizard person to live. You have to go out of your way to find them. You can kill them on sight. you can end any conversation them with an "eeeewww" speech option and initiate combat. Storylinewise they are all going to die because the lizardkin who tried to repair their nuclear reactor got high first and blew himself up, causing their cavern to begin to freeze. Alternatively you can find a lizard who hates the one lizard in the entire game that wants to bang humans, stage a bloodless coup and have the fur fetish removed from the game bloodlessly. So basically, shoot em (my preference), let them freeze (A good runner up), stage a bloodless anti LizardGBTQ+ coup or just completely ignore them, and canonically they turn into icicles. That is legitimately it btw, story gripes aside, 99 percent of the whining that you see is about 15 minutes of optional content in a mod that has 50+ hours of gameplay. Their basically bitching that the mod is a sequel to Fallout 2 and New Vegas, and not the pg 7-13, "Fallout 4" Skyrim game.

This mod is all over the place. It does a lot of technically/mechanically impressive things but the narrative is so "not fallout". I feel like this is one of the many cases where fanfiction would be better off just being it's own thing. If they released this as a total conversion and just said it uses FNV as a base, I think it would be much better.

This mod is literally just “I like all these games so ima mash them together and let the hype of this being a mod in development for seven years carry it”. It was ambitious and technologically amazing...for the most part, but the story was super bland.
That was my feel just watching this. It's riding more on Hype than innovation and creativity as they just stuck their favorite things of the moment into it.
The fact they overpraise The Courier gets old hella quick. That, the story, and the constant technical issues are really the only negatives I could see here.

On the other hand, the entire space station section clashes with the aesthetics and themes of the original Fallout so badly it just turns me off the the entire mod in general. They are absolutely evil to begin with but you can see with the remnants in F:NV and their(potentially) more reasonable position in Fallout 3 that they as a faction are less evil than they once were. I bring this up because this is, in my opinion a signifigantly more interesting thing to explore than "all people part of this group designed before they knew what their enemy(radiation) would do(at the time of the enclave's founding they had no clue what irradiated people would end up as but as they learn they're not savage monsters they become less extreme, still evil as a whole obviously but they're making their way to being reasonable) are EVIL" sorry if that is hard to read
Yup, Fallout 2 pretty much cleared up the Enclave, and New Vegas revisits it with some people who used to be with them still being around, but the organization gone. It also shows that super mutants kept existing after Fallout 1, just without any big collective goal. And that is just the west coast. What happens in the east is a totally different part.

This mod started off really promising with the whole going off to fight for the ncr against the legion. But then a orbital strike happens and then there’s a space ship and then you go TO FUCKING SPACE and you know what FUCK IT ZOMBIES TOO oh yeah and lizard rape
Shockingly, not the first time that's happened in a fallout game (looking at you Mothership Zeta)
It's simple.
Courier is on hard drugs and his reality is distorted to the point of making him hear how NCR troops are praising him. Then he dies from an orbital strike and everything that happens afterwards is a purgatory made of all the stuff he have seen, heard and experienced before, mashed together as his brain lives its last moments.

Wow. That part with the scientist trapping you in the room with the walls closing in, and then having to choose which companion is killed is literally ripped from Wolfenstein.
This mod screams having played different games over the course of it's development.

The game basically rips chunks from 4-5 different notable games (Wolfenstein, Dead Space, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, etc.) and recreates them in this jank engine. The ambition here was impressive, the execution? ehhhh

Jesus bushwick Christ, note to modders: self-fellating in story writing rarely works. It especially doesn't work when you don't account for the fact that literally no Courier is a legendary demigod at level 12. I get that everyone wants to feel cool, but trust me, it feels much cooler to have it happen authentically.

on an "optimal" playthrough you can usually hit level 11 before novac so the fact you can just get auto-fellatioed as "the courier of legend" when all you've done is recover from being shot in the head is so fucking stupid

It's funny, for a mod that they claimed adhered to the lore of Fallout, they sure took Fallout's unique 50's retrofuturism style and completely removed it, turning it into another generic modern post apocalyptic FPS just with the New Vegas engine.

@@156football Alchestbreach is doing a whole playthrough i play dust so dont know if it will fuck up my game by adding another huge mod on top of it but it really isnt that weird. The writing really just resembles a war movie. No weird fetishes or anything just a bit more call of duty than usual. Only weird part is how everyone knows the courier from the begining but like i explained before by level 4 i was reaching new vegas and had already punched deathclaws to submission while taking the highway everyone tells you not to take. Plus you can use the route benny took to kill you and its pretty easy with very few hostiles it even comes with easter eggs of benny and each stop he took before reach goodsprings including a map and a grave made by and for someone in the comics.

There is a female escort in the game as a slave and a women that tries to get you to defect but vanilla vegas had the Gamorrah and other places like the building near the blood thorn and the monster cage fighting fetish itself....... So really not that bad.

A over exaggeration of how cool one of the protagonists are, a massive amount of pent up sexual aggression from one writer being pumped into the world building, the ability to literally see in the game when things were being written because they just ripped it from the thing the dev lead just played or watched, an over ambitious attempt to add more mechanics and gameplay types than the scope of the game can handle, an incredible amount of bugs, tho in this mods case that was a free space due to the engine and lastly, they both somehow managed to simultaneously feel like they were in the oven for too long and not long enough at the same time

That's actually what happened. It was one main writer for the NCR quest and then like 10 other guys all doing their own thing. It was a clusterfuck.
@@ace_does_internet_stuff1817 Not just the NCR quest, literally the entire mod. A large chunk of the mod was rushed over the span of a few months because quite literally the entirety of the original dev team dropped it half way through for half a year or so before a new dev team came in.
Additionally whats equally hilarious is a lot of the writing thats in there comes from the original dev team, so you cant even say that the OGs were doing any better.
This mod straight up makes the writing for Duke Nukem Forever actually look decent.

You know something's wrong with the plot when you return from space and the main story still isn't halfway done.
A compiled list of every major complaint/issue with Fallout: The Frontier:
-Feet fetish/joke
-Lizard sex fetish/joke
-Deathclaw sex fetish/joke
-Emotional abuse of a child (across multiple characters, all female)
-one of the head artists draws underage pornography
-awful, awful, lore-breaking, fan fiction style writing
-enormous segments that were not playtested/reviewed by anyone besides the one person in charge of making that specific part
-removed the Enclave, comparing them to 'alt right nazis'. A trifecta blow of giving your political opinion, comparing something to hate speech, and breaking major lore within one sentence
-completely bashed and negated any constructive criticism/jokes made on initial forum posts questioning parts of the mod
-admitted to not communicating with writers between questlines/storylines, essentially allowing story writers to do whatever they wanted without any proofreading/fact checking. This also
apparently lead to delusions of grandeur with some story writers attempting to take the mod hostage by forcing the lead developers to let them write their lore-breaking fantasy on top of the main quest
-very very braggadocios, 'in your face' attitude from the developers until the media came down on them, to which they ate their own words and apologized like hypocrites instead of being straightforward about their mod, like they acted in the first place (I.E. telling your friends about your new girlfriend, but when asked for information you just say: 'she goes to another school')
-alot of things that weren't key features (Driving, new weapons/maps, voice actors) were completely underdeveloped or not checked by play-testers, to the point where it feels like half the content in the mod has been installed individually, by people who weren't working on the same concept or idea
This mod could've been great, had it actually been reviewed and playtested.

Its nice to see someone actually makes the distinction that he just doodled underage porn. Though, while he was a 'lead' artist, he was only a lead artist over GUI and thats it, which really wasnt that big of a thing, something that even he and several other devs admitted.
Regardless, you should also add in 'Total dev change' since the OG devs dropped the mod entirely and developement only continued after the new devs came in, and they did a rush job of finishing all of the stuff that wasnt finished (which was pretty much everything if sources are to be believed) in just a few months, which really only further adds to your argument that it could have been better if it was reviewed and playtested.
Man as someone who agrees the enclave are canonically fascists, I cannot understand how someone could think removing them from the Frontier is any way coherent. Like... Roleplaying as evil is fun, and so is having an interesting bad faction. Like not every remnant in FNV is a bad person, but the boys at the enclave leadership certainly are. The fact they have arguments for why they do and believe what they do is really entertaining.

The short answer to your question is yes. Absolutely.
There are four fetish gimmicks in the game
1. Wild Wasteland and Legacy Content: In Fallout 2 if you lose a arm wrestling contest with a super mutant, he straight up rp's you and your character wakes up with a ball gag in their inventory. So The Frontier has 3 things kind of like that, albeit tamer. All three of these are skippable without consequence, and are not attached to any kind of quest/level/plot progression.
2. America Fuck Yeah: The Sex Slave you own in FO3 Clover, has a counterpart in FOFrontier named America. Unlike Clover she puts a slave collar on willingly after you pass 3 or 4 speech checks. This is skippable and has severe in world consequences.
3. The New Ghouls: You need not suffer a lizard person to live. You have to go out of your way to find them. You can kill them on sight. you can end any conversation them with an "eeeewww" speech option and initiate combat. Storylinewise they are all going to die because the lizardkin who tried to repair their nuclear reactor got high first and blew himself up, causing their cavern to begin to freeze. Alternatively you can find a lizard who hates the one lizard in the entire game that wants to bang humans, stage a bloodless coup and have the fur fetish removed from the game bloodlessly. So basically, shoot em (my preference), let them freeze (A good runner up), stage a bloodless anti LizardGBTQ+ coup or just completely ignore them, and canonically they turn into icicles.
That is legitimately it btw, story gripes aside, 99 percent of the whining that you see is about 15 minutes of optional content in a mod that has 50+ hours of gameplay. Their basically bitching that the mod is a sequel to Fallout 2 and New Vegas, and not the pg 7-13, "Fallout 4" Skyrim game.

This mod is all over the place. It does a lot of technically/mechanically impressive things but the narrative is so "not fallout". I feel like this is one of the many cases where fanfiction would be better off just being it's own thing. If they released this as a total conversion and just said it uses FNV as a base, I think it would be much better.

This mod is literally just “I like all these games so ima mash them together and let the hype of this being a mod in development for seven years carry it”. It was ambitious and technologically amazing...for the most part, but the story was super bland.
That was my feel just watching this. It's riding more on Hype than innovation and creativity as they just stuck their favorite things of the moment into it.
Unfortunately, stories tend to be bland these days. It's just the curse of our time, and we have to endure it.
I miss enjoying things.

It’s kind of cliche like MGS’ “Why are we still here just to suffer” aesthetic and the weird corny ass slave speech check companion and the overuse of pre-war tech by NCR exiles is just way too dumb. And you are hailed as this god among men for being the “courier”. Everyone is like “OH MY GOD UR THE COURIER FUCK ME”. Way too ambitious. And it gage me the impression of trying to be a little bit complex but ultimately fails at execution. Basically redditor and /b/ wrote the story and quests and had COD inspired setting. Very disappointing.

On the one hand, it’s amazing how much they were able to put in this game. On the other hand, the entire space station section clashes with the aesthetics and themes of the original Fallout so badly it just turns me off the the entire mod in general.
The programming must’ve been a bitch and a half to do, and I’m glad they did it, but the writing easily needed another several months to fix
there's also some strange things in the writing, like literal sex slaves and horny lizard people.

Y'know, another aspect that's just completely lazy- I noticed this a little with New California, as well- is making the Enclave the enemy. Every. Single. Time. It's gotten to the point where the Enclave have lost their original purpose and are basically just post-apocolyptic nazis and go-to villains for uncreative mods.

@@ThisIsNotMyRealSelf In defense of the Enclave(not something I thought I'd say this morning) later on they can be reasoned with in order to go less genocidal and more moderate in their response. They are absolutely evil to begin with but you can see with the remnants in F:NV and their(potentially) more reasonable position in Fallout 3 that they as a faction are less evil than they once were. I bring this up because this is, in my opinion a signifigantly more interesting thing to explore than "all people part of this group designed before they knew what their enemy(radiation) would do(at the time of the enclave's founding they had no clue what irradiated people would end up as but as they learn they're not savage monsters they become less extreme, still evil as a whole obviously but they're making their way to being reasonable) are EVIL"

Yup, Fallout 2 pretty much cleared up the Enclave, and New Vegas revisits it with some people who used to be with them still being around, but the organization gone.
It also shows that super mutants kept existing after Fallout 1, just without any big collective goal.
And that is just the west coast. What happens in the east is a totally different part.
