Can You Beat Fallout New Vegas’s Honest Hearts DLC Without Taking Any Damage? (in text form)
Every DLC in New Vegas has a level requirement, a level at which the developers suggest you be at before you start a specific DLC. For Honest Hearts, that happens to be level 10. Now, I could dump skill points into Speech and Guns and steamroll through everything. But I want to go into Honest Hearts with as bland a character as possible. So, I somewhat evenly distributed my SPECIAL points, picked Speech, Guns, and Medicine as my Tag skills, chose Wild Wasteland and Trigger Discipline as my Traits, and began the leveling process. I used console commands to do this, to give myself the minimum amount of experience required to get to Level 10. As I leveled up, I evenly distributed Skill points across all skills, aside from my Tag skills. In retrospect, I should have made every skill the same, but with Medicine being literally worthless since I can’t take damage in the first place, I figure those wasted skill points balance things out.
Regarding weapons and armor, I’m going in with only what I get from the DLC packs I have installed. No stopping at Chet’s store or the Gun Runners to stock up on supplies. Also, because the point is to beat only Honest Hearts without taking damage, I didn’t mess with my health until I got to the start of the DLC. I had a bit of problem with some Deathclaws and Geckos on my way to the Northern Passage, but the video isn’t about them.
After about 30 minutes of wasted time, I finally arrived at the Northern Passage where I could speak to Jed Masterson, convince him that I was a big strong boy, and put what I had to in the special box to get myself down to 100 pounds of supplies. I only had 124 pounds of stuff when I left Doc Mitchell’s House, so finding 24 pounds of stuff to drop off wasn’t all that difficult, especially since the Lightweight Metal Armor from the Mercenary DLC Pack weighs 20 pounds by itself. With my supplies set, I dropped my max health down to 1 so that any damage of any kind [boop]s me, told Jed that I was ready to hit the ol’ dusty trail, and we made our way for New Cannaan, which, if you were wondering, is about 380 miles Northeast of Las Vegas. Or, put another way, it’s a little over 24,000,000 Cheese-Its away from Las Vegas.
In the cold nights on the road, I snuggled close to Jed’s beard to keep warm. The way into Zion Canyon was a one way street according to Stella. Luckily, I wouldn’t have to listen to her run her mouth at Jed for too much longer, as we were ambushed by White Legs, who [booped] everyone besides me. I fired somewhat haphazardly into the tree line, eventually striking and [booping] one of the White Legs with one of my bullets. With the corpses of my fallen companions looted, I could press onward into the Canyon.
That self-confidence faded after an altercation with 2 more White Horses on the west end of the bridge. Then it got trampled into the dirt when even more White Horses emerged from their rocky hideouts to attack me with their fancy automatic rifles. If you hadn’t figured it out by now, the key to not dying when any damage of any kind [boops] you is to avoid getting hit by a stray bullet. That becomes nearly impossible when someone is capable of firing dozens of times in your direction in mere seconds.

I really enjoy Honest Hearts despite being/because it's free XP: the DLC, with some fantastic loot and a gorgeous map untained by radiation. And of course, Joshua Graham.
My first time with the honest hearts DLC lasted all but 10 minutes cuz i killed follows chalk, then 1 day after that i was at gunrunners searching for an anti materiel rifle and found a .45 pistol just casually sitting in the Gunrunners arsenal, i thought my game had been hacked out because i play fallout new vegas on xbox 360 aint no way i have console command to bring that shit into the game then i later found out it was to this DLC you can literally come to honest hearts DLC at level 2 or 3 if you wished kill follows chalk and get the .45 pistol in game if you wait probably 5 days in game or so

the best of the best dlc.
It breaks my heart that Honest Hearts is typically everyone’s least favorite out of the New Vegas DLC. It’s my favorite. I love the items, the setting, and the characters. It has plenty weaknesses (Waking Cloud is about as deadly as handful of Flintstone vitamins), but I’m able to overlook these and enjoy my time in Zion.
For me it’s lonesome road
It is really boring for the New Vegas standard (not other fallout game, FO4 is garbage compare to this)
It lacks interesting NPCs (just like Paul said, the only interesting guy is Joshua, other NPCs really doesn't has any interesting design)
It is filled with boring fetch quests
It doesn't really has any unique enemy to fight, any interesting map to explore
All in all, compare to all other unique and interesting DLCs, HH really doesn't shine at all. Although the Father's story is really cool, but it really depart from the main quests, you need to find all those logs to acknowledge the Father's story, pretty painful if you are not a explorer type player, I hope his story would go more into the main quest line.
In my opinion my list goes from old world blues, lonesome road, honest hearts and my least favorite dlc is dead money

@@RandomPerson-wo3zz Dead Money definitely ranks lower for me too. I enjoy the story, however, I found it really difficult to play. The ghosts of the Sierra Madre are so damn annoying.

When i got to this dlc, i followed the quest marker. killed a guy. and somehow completed the dlc in like 2 minutes
If you accidentally kill Follows-Chalk, it starts a much quicker alternate questline for the DLC

A Cheez-It has a side length of one inch, so it would be 10,124,928 Cheez-Its from Las Vegas to Zion National Park, assuming that the Cheez-Its are laid side-to-side. However, if the Cheez-Its are laid corner-to-corner, then the distance is longer. Since the diagonal length of a 1x1 inch square is √2, you would have to multiple the distance by √2, for a grand total of about 14,318,886.8632 Cheez-Its from Las Vegas to Zion National Park.

It is the best DLC for survival players. A lot of plants, craftable doctor bags, top light armor, good EXP and beautiful map.
Really tho how is it considered the worse, the whole area looks amazing. It's no old world blues but you get some amazing armour, weapons. Plus being able to explore a place that's not all fucked by the war. It's like the 2nd best dlc

@zikki meister Best DLCs, in my opinion, from worst to best:
Lonesome Road - It has an amazing storyline, amazing set of characters, along with a companion and ending which ties back into the main game.
Dead Money - Though linear, the challenges you face in this DLC make it so that the ghost people are an actual threat, as well as the holograms, radios, and whatever else you face. It pretty much did the opposite of what OWB did, and instead of making all of the enemies bullet sponges, made the player themselves weaker.
Honest Hearts - amazing side quests, with a decent storyline as well as a beautiful scenery to look at.
Old World Blues - Overall, just a giant fetch quest, with bullet spongey enemies mixed in, as well as way-too-long of an exposition to introduce the story. It usually takes around an hour to watch the slideshow, talk to the robots, and then get started on your quest.
But the real question is..
Are the cheez-its faced like diamonds or squares???

I just finished this DLC for the first time, and I wanted to mention that the visuals and environment are the most amazing things ever. It may not be the most interesting DLC, but it is the most beautiful.
I think honest hearts is not so bad. I loved following the story of the Survivalist from his terminals in caves. Awesome desert ranger armor too

The loot is bad tho. Dead money gives you unlimited stimpacks, doctors bags, repair kits with the vending machine. OWB provides best housing with unlimited energy ammo, food and water for hc mode. Lonesome road gives you Ulysses duster and crazy buffs to your character. Honest hearts has nothing in comparison :(

its a great story, but my god its painful to get all the details its spread out across the whole canyon and you have to be looting every single location, IMO its strange they put his rifle just outside, on a forested cliff, lots of times i remember where it is because an enemy picks it up and massacres me with its 50 cal glory

Agree, personally I really dislike Dead Money and rarely even complete it on a playthrough. HH I feel gets better the more you go through it and Joshua is bad ass.

Yeah, the Dlc i most played was either Honest Hearts or Lonesome Road because it was easier and the loot is so good especially on Lonesome Road where you can get that Riot Gear

This DLC was the first I played through. I actually thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm currently playing Old World Blues, and so far, while interesting and hilarious, I like the less wacky nature of Honest Hearts better.
Both are good, for certain. But Honest Hearts is my favourite of the two. I have yet to do Lonesome Road and Dead Money, though.

That explains why you can't hit the broad side of a dam barn!
The reason is that the weapon actually physically sways and with true Iron sight your sight are on the gun so they will be accurate but with the fake sight the don't move as the gun moves and that's why it is hard to use those sights

@@-Seeker- Yeah the lore is pretty awesome especially considering Elijah (or whatever his name was) had little hints of his journey throughout owb and the divide. I've just always liked more visually appealing areas and i loved the design of zion canyon, also the badass weapons and Graham.

The weird thing about this DLC is that it seems to take into account your level when it comes to the enemies, but only to a really, really limited extent. I always played it at lv 50 so I always encountered enemies with 12.7 mm SMGs and Anti-Material Rifles, but when I played it recently on Very Hard with Hardcore Mode enabled and was only like lv 20, they had .45 SMGs and Hunting Rifles/Trail Carbines instead. Yet the melee weapons seemed consistent with what I remember of playing at the max level.
About the only other thing that changed when it came to enemy encounters while playing at a lower level was that I think I ran into more Young Green Geckos rather than the full Grown versions. That was about it. At any other given time it was basically a coin toss as to whether I'd encounter 2 small radscorpions and a Bark Scorpion, or 2 Giant Rats and a Giant Rat pup, or if I'd be unrelentingly fucked in 2 hits by 3 Giant Cazadores/Yao Guai.

@@mrbork7201 Its basically a useless stat in this game. Basically if you have more then 1 char you doing it wrong (or going for a challenge run where only your companions can dmg your opponents).

yabbet90 CHA doesn't give you a large bonus in speech, one of the most important skills in the game. It's only there if you want more companions, thereby making it kinda useless if you're playing solo.
@@ricoco7891 it doesen't give you more companions (you always can only have 1 humanoid and one pet) it makes them stronger. And in normal they cannot die when in your party if i remember correctly.

Honest Hearts was amazing for me. Due to the weight requirement, I only brought the Automatic Rifle from Dead Money. I was a small guns character. I blew through almost all my ammo in the opening sequence, not knowing that you weren't supposed to kill everyone. The rest of the DLC was spent scavenging melee weapons and completing the story by the skin of my teeth.

Although Honest Hearts is my least favorite DLC of New Vegas, it’s still a good DLC. I mean, the location is beautiful, the enemies are varied and pretty interesting, Joshua Graham is just.......amazing, and I like the weapons, but it can still be boring and easy. (EXCEPT FOR THE CAZADORES

Tbh, honest hearts is one of my favorite DLCs of all time of any game. I remember the first time I made it to Zion. I had spend the past 13 irl hours playing, drinking and smoking. I was sooo high. I’ve played new Vegas for years and was always poor so I never got to play the DLCs until I was an adult. It was so different from the Mohave, and I loved the tribes. It only fueled my hate for the legion more. It was a beautiful experience.

Beating it with fists would be too easy, many enemies switch to fists if you do. I beat the game using the wooden stick (called bludgeon) and found the few times I did use my fists to be much easier so I stopped using them and used the stick only
