I totally 100% Agree with you! I just recently discovered their Live Concerts on RUclips! I'm so happy, because in my opinion, they're one of, if not THE BEST BAND OF THE 80's. One of my favorite bands in any era!
this live is just craaaazy ! this is the best era for The Minds. and very precisely the six month time with the perfect vibe and setlist ... still a bit of Real to Real, the great classic tracks from Empire & Dance, and the new songs from Sons & Fascination. i need more live from this era. Thank You ! a french fan
My first ever gig. A spotty 14 year old wearing a Bowie jacket, frilly shirt, and burgundy tukka boots. A couple of sneaky pints in Hurricanes followed by some Moscow Mules in Centre Court across the road from Tiffany's. Brilliant to hear it after so many years.
Hahaa, memories came flooding right back of my Tukka boots. Loved them, and of course Simple Minds. Saw them this year and going to see Derek Forbes in November 2024. Hope you see this post in time and get to see him! Spread the love ... ❤
I think the years of lack of commercial recognition for their brilliance in 1980 and 1981 took its toll on the band, causing them to make compromise after compromise as the years went on. When I hear This Fear of Gods, I hear an entire band sacrificing themselves for art both physically and mentally, being vulnerable. No one really was listening in 1980, and this got to them. That's my take anyway.
I was at this gig,so good to hear this again, this was the real simple minds, none of the shite they are coming out with now for the past 10 years, this was the Real minds?
Oh God. To hear Derek's bass lines in this recording is such a bliss... so fast so faithful to the recordings. Overall, Brilliant! I'm shocked ( in a good way)!!
For the 'returners' who like a regular listen to this recording, you know Derek Forbes is touring right now in 2024, playing all those famous basslines. Got tickets yet?
Tks mate! Your channel rules. I have many mp3 recordings of SM stuffs downloaded/recorded now more than 10 years ago when SM Chat site was still alive and got in to many fans sharing work! This rec is amazing anyway! Very bass and drums! Keep posting, chapeau to your work.
I still think Simple Minds must be the only band on record to have gone almost completely to pieces when their bassist went. New Order bears no comparison.
soy ENRIQUE, esto fue INCREIBEL FANTASTICO, la mejor BANDA, NO muy considerada como DEBIO haberlo sido por su calidad musical, sonido, frontman, excelentes
And THIS is MUSIC Just asked a collegue: "how would have the audience if this concert reacted to an Italian rapper? I figure they would have killed him"😂😂😂
That was when the juices were really flowing. Derek's fingers were surely bleeding at the end of this! F***ing BRILLIANT!
Simple Minds at their best in my opinion.
Absolutely!

Oh ! oui !
Sublime playing by Forbes & Hyslop!
Forbes for president, Hyslop for prime minister
It’s hard to overstate how great the bass and drum playing are in this early incarnation of SM
The rhythmic genius of Kenny Hyslop on drums

I don't know how you can lose a bass player like that.

Couldn't agree more!
The first time I saw them was soon after this, in Atlanta at the Agora Ballroom (‘82-‘83) and it changed my musical life.
Very interesting performance. Fast, raw, synth and bass dominated with splashes of guitar brilliance and melancholy lyrics. Thank you for posting.

Thanks so much for this old classic !
It would be great to hear "The American" from that night
Just posted a link for Premonition and The American on this night but poor quality I'm afraid.

Stay safe pal!
