- Audience Recording.
Recorded at Barrowland, Glasgow, 4th January 1985.
Many fans will already own this recording with it having been bootlegged as "Summertime In Glasgow". It was originally issued as a double vinyl LP then a 2 CD version and then finally as a single CD. I'm not 100% sure but I think the source for these was Malcolm Beaton's recordings. Well here is his master recording and it also includes "East At Easter".
Thank you once again for sharing Malcolm! 👍
Songs are:
01. I Travel
02. Glittering Prize
03. Book Of Brilliant Things
04. Up On The Catwalk
05. Promised You A Miracle
06. Speed Your Love To Me
07. Celebrate
08. Someone Somewhere (In Summertime)
09. The American
10. Waterfront
11. East At Easter
12. New Gold Dream (81-82-83-84) - [with Bono]

I was 13 on this day love simple minds first
My first bootleg I bought on 2lp...red vinyl.Summertime in Glasgow.
When simple minds return at home,it s always the best concerts
They live in Italy.
@@ALPQZM654 i know Taormina in Sicilia ??
@@ALPQZM654Glasgow is still home for them. It’s where the heart is.
Derek's last gig by all accounts and he's magnificent
I loved Simple Minds so much: they were sparking, original, unexpected, passionate... And then something changed... I know some of you agree and some don't, but to me they started to lose their magic with Sparkle in the Rain. This recording seems to be at the edge of this transition.
It was I suppose grinding a nice working living from the band or having £50 million in the bank 🤭✌️
This is them at their best imo
The loss of Derek Forbes was a massive part of their disintegration
Being avant guade and edgy is all good but if you want to make money you have to write radio friendly songs.
The incarnation of ghostdancing....
Que hermoso es su canto
34:55 DEREK FORBES !!!!!!!
Great concert simple minds n1 live band
I WAS THERE!!!!! Camped out overnight to get tickets (in the good old days before the internet!). Best (and loudest!) gig I ever saw!! Place went absolutely mental when Bono came on!!!!
I have it on cd!!!…FANTASTIC‼️
great gigs
Brilliant !
Uh... hold on a minute. For the opening track, Jim tells the audience: «This is called I Travel.» and then we hear the first measures of Ghostdancing. 🤔

Listened to a bit of this, interesting that they seemed to be a bit bloated, songs mid paced and meandering and the tightness they had as a unit gone. Shame as from Real to real cacophony to New Gold Dream they were so good.
The I Travel lyrics sung to the Ghostdancing tune.
I wonder if they got this idea from the One Song To The Tune Of Another section of Radio 4's show I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue . . 😃
Ghostdancing is actually I Travel Part 2. That what old Jimbo says.
I had always understood Ghostdancing to be a re-working of Theme for Great Cities. Never heard the I Travel mash up before
I preferred I Travel when it wasn't Ghostdancing
Interesting hearing Forbes playing bass.
✌️🤗hello Art&aTalk
@Bojan Vladušič Good morning to you. I hope you are well?! 😀🙏

@@AMASportsPhotoAgency of course it is , I bought it lol
Dear Art & Talk, is it possible to release just the song 'East at Easter' from this concert? I would be verry grateful if you could do this.
1985 marks that their best period was behind them.
Sure !
the bass is too low on the mix :'( poor derek
Jim probably told the tech to turn him down….Forbes was shown the door 2-3 months after this.
Mick MacNeil and Charlie had begun to take the lead, bass getting a back seat..
@@ALPQZM654 😢
THey should have released this instead live in Paris crap.
totally agree
