    What makes Talk Talk great is that each band member is truly awesome and talented. No better bass, key boards, guitar, and percussion. Of course Hollis' vocals are stunning. As time passes, I hope people have an opportunity to really listen to Talk Talk and their musical genius.

    In the Eighties, as a teenager, I ignored everything that smelled like Pop. I was more into Hard Rock, Blues Rock etc. And now, in my fifties, I discover what a fabulous, creative, influential band Talk Talk was. Wish I could have seen them live. Can't stop listening to "Life's what you make it" but especially to "Spirit of Eden". What a masterpiece!

    Hollis was a visionary artist, who flatly refused to play the record company game. After the massive success of TT's two previous albums, he put out the jazz, rock fusion masterpieces Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock. It showed extraordinary courage, but proof for future artists that came after Talk Talk to follow the muse wherever that led and not to cop out for commercial reasons and lose integrity. Ultimately integrity is all a true artist has in life. R.I.P. Mark you inspired so many of us to take chances.

    • @albinobeach
      @albinobeach Год назад +31

      Yes, to add to that, he gave up performing music and concentrated on being a father after that. Mainly because he didn't want to compromise their upbringing by focusing on touring. I have so much respect for him as an artist and a person.

      All thanks to The Master Of Masters , The True Holy Immortall Himalayan-Indian Master , who ever-abides , most-concealed , within the sacred Himalayan-Indian town of KEDARNATH , from-whence he emanates the True Sacred Light to the trus transcendent rock-musicians of the world , being those who , in August of 1969, had spontaeneously , first come-together at a farmer's field in the rural upstate New York community , there to create and form "WOODSTOCK NATION" ......The sole "Harbingers Of Absolute Truth" in world history ! ..... I am one of those original transcendent ones ; a transcendent Jew from 1960's TORONTO ( the sole point of "harmonic-convergence" on the planet ) ..... I am a natural-born rock-music drummer from the '60's , born in 1949 in the transcendent Frenxh-Canadian
      city of MONYREAL , raised in the same Jewish section of Montreal as was the phenomenal drummer for the great transcendent American rock-music band of the '60's "MOUNTAIN" ; CORKY LAING ! ..... The term "BETHEL" , where the 500,000 of us has gathered is an ancient Hebrew Kabbalistic term which means "The Place Of ( House Of ) Absolute Truth" ! ....... And the beat goes on ! ...... My name is Shmuel ("Steve") Glass , currently sojourning in the city of the sncient Kabbalah TZEFAT ( a/k/a "Safed" ) in the northern hill-country of Palestine ....... Again. ADI SHANKARA had revealed himself to me while I had sojourned in Kedarnath in the 1990's ! .... Bye bye for now ! ..... LET THE MUSIC PLAY ...... forever-more !!!

    The only opportunity I ever had to see them was in 1984 when they played the Irvine Meadows Amphitheater in S. California. At the time I wasn't that familiar with their music and don't remember even being aware that they were playing there. Now, given what I know and how much I love this band, I would pay obscene amounts of money to see them. So sad that Mark is no longer with us. His music touches my soul like none other.

    I grew up with Talk Talk in the 80s. 'Mark Hollis' who could mistake that voice,must have been a great loss to his band mates when he passed, but i'm sure he's up there in musical heaven jamming with the best of them.R.I.P Mark Hollis.🙏

    Ich habe Talk Talk es muss 1985 gewesen sein, in einer kleinen Halle live gesehen. Kannte die Gruppe gar nicht. Aus Langeweile kauften wir eine Karte. Vom musikalischen her gesehen war das eine der besten Entscheidungen. Was für eine Stimme. Was für ein Auftritt. Unglaublich. Zum Glück habe mir die CD Live in London gekauft.

    This music so defines a certain period in my life. I discovered them through their single and wasn't expecting how deep and majestic they actually were. I didn't know anyone else who listened to them, so I'm glad they have an audience now.

    I recorded this on VHS when it was on t.v many years ago. Fortunately a friend converted it to DVD for me, so I’ve seen it a few times, but awesome that it’s now been uploaded for everyone to watch. I’m 57 now, I only really regret not seeing two bands in my time, Talk Talk are one of them. Mark Hollis was undoubtedly not only a vocal genius but a fantastic performer.

    Talk Talk were not in my listening radar when they started, but when Gary Davis played a track from Spirit of Eden on Radio 1 whilst I was at work, (my first job after college), I was mesmerised. Went and bought the album. Spirit of Eden, Laughing Stock and Mark's solo album are three masterpieces that I never tire of listening to. I've since completed my back catalogue of their albums and have a dvd of Live at Montreaux, so I've caught up! It's such a shame that Mark died so young. I know he had departed from the music business, but he may have come back. That we will never know. I've also purchased some solo Tim Friese Green albums, which are interesting.

    What a sensitive, and sensual, singer Mark David Hollis was!
    For the last time performing in his home town, and he probably knew.
    His closest loved ones must have been there, and who knows even Caroline and Renée, somewhere in that ecstatic crowd. Awesome.
    Thank you very much for "sharing this film with the world" and with coming generations, indeed!
