I come back to this over and over and over again. This is by far one of the holy grail benchmarks of what a live performance should be. EVERY band and artist should watch this and aspire to be even just a fraction this good. Mark Hollis was one of the most reluctant front men of any band but he was SOOOO good. I love the fact that he helped create the music he did with Talk Talk and then just disappeared from the limelight. Absolute legendary band. Those who know.... know.
Gareth Jones. Great comment. Agree with you 100%. I love and respect the fact he did what he did and dropped out at his peak. Proved he wasnt an attention seeking bellend like so many others in the music industry. A true and complete talent. Like you said, those who know .... know, thats all that counts.

One of my favorite songs of all time and this version is amazing. I only cried once because of a musician's passing and that was Prince. And today. I remember the beautiful summer of 1984. I was 14 when "Such a Shame" was released in Germany. I wanted to get the maxi-version on vinyl which was not available in my German hometown, so I had to travel by train on this very hot summer day to the next larger city in order to get it. Those were the days where one had to put in some effort to get only one song. Mark Hollis belonged to the best songwriters and singers in history. And I will not stop getting goose-bumps listening to his songs. He was truly a genius who did not give a fiddlers fok about fame and fortune which makes him so loveable to begin with. Rest well, Mark. Thank you for the music. Enjoy "Living in another world"! Never to be forgotten.
I am 61 years young, the amount of energy blasting of the screen, in their music makes me feel 25 years again, full of energy and this is just freaking good music ;-)
I find myself looking for any of there songs online with a video. I never got to see them live, really feel like I missed out something fantastic. RIP Mark.
I was 13 when Such a Shame aired in 1983, , too young to appreciate it. Now at 53, I discover this and can't get enough. Love Mark's style in every way, too bad he is no longer with us
Cannot put into words how listening to this makes me feel. Sitting in my parents garden for few minutes respite in the dark , cool air. They are nearly 90 and have dementia and it is tough. Listening to Mark makes me feel I can do this, always xxxxxxx Genius given to us and thank God not lost because of the music and especially the videos xxx
Im not the type of person to really get bothered by celebrities passing away, but theres something about losing Mark Hollis that just hit me. He just seemed like such a nice guy and someone i would actually be friends with.
i think describing them as a "synth pop band" is like calling Miles Davis a random horn player or Beethoven as someone who occasionally tickled the ivories. Hollis was the Real Deal becoming more complex and difficult but no less brilliant as he went on.
I would urge anyone who loves music, including serious musicians/ song writer's to listen to two albums, The Colour of Spring, and Spirit of Eden,,,, two of the most amazingly beautiful albums ever to be recorded, by any band/artist, I never tire of listening to Mark Hollis' beautiful haunting voice or the truly amazing sounds created by Lee Harris, Paul Webb, Simon Brenner and Tim Friese - Greene. People, treat yourselves, listen to these two albums, you will be uplifted.
Half of them were hired musicians and not a "member of the band". I guess John Turnbull (guitarist) is probably the most known of them : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Turnbull_(musician)
Marks voice was unique. As was his song writing. I love the fact he just lived out his life in South West England. Thankyou Mark for the musicof my youth..
One of the few singers who never sang out of key. One of the best singers in history, and an amazingly talented writer. Avoided the limelight and walked away from fame and fortune to be a husband and father. RIP Mark, you are an icon whose music brings me great joy. Thank you.
I just love the way Mark sits down and just absorbs the music right between vocals....he is just so into the music and he is one of a kind, RIP Sir Mark Hollis, you truly are the most amazing musician ever. I first heard your songs when I was just three years old and every day I play your music...Thank you for everything, where ever you may be...we all miss you!
What a performance ! The amazing intro. The overwhwlming crescendo. The team work of the group. What a live performance. I truly can say one of the best ever heard.
