- When recently uploading my SM edits I realized I'd never touched my favorite track - I'd always thought it too good to mess with. I still think so ... guess I'm becoming a rebel! I hope I've done it enough justice.

Not sure if I've mentioned this before, but I attended the SM concert in Toronto last year and was disappointed that they didn't play Love Song (even though my wife said they did). I just found this (ruclips.net/video/KKlqXs1f1Eg/видео.html - thank you nyko3424) on-line which proves that they didn't. But now I wish I'd gone to the sound check.
I saw them in Wollongong twice when they toured with INXS (on 1st tour) and Devo (on 2nd tour).
I was lucky that they played Love Song both times! The first tour with INXS was better as they played a lot of the early/more unknown song (Chelsea Girl/Celebrate/I Travel/Hunter and Hunted). The 2nd tour focused more on the later stuff post Waterfront (😢😢)..looks like they scrapped Love Song on the Toronto tour as they couldnt get the sound right? Nice to meet another SM devotee! 👏👏
@@lindalorko4478: Hi Linda, nice to "meet" you too. Yep, been a fan since I Travel (extended version ruclips.net/video/I7Yp0i_wjfw/видео.html), still a fan of the music - although Jim's moves aren't quite as stylish as back then!
You should've been there 79... eyeliner. Nail Polish. Scottish scene. Fire Engines Aztec Camera... Jim Charlie Burchell gigging pre fame. Gigging aboot Edinburgh. Class. Chelsea Girl Life in a Day I Travel... propper MINDS
@@kcufdam i remember that well. I had a shop in Cockburn Street Hot Licks. Our manager was Steve from Falkirk. We took a demo tape with Chelsea Girl on it to London to try to get a couple of A&R men interested but we did not have the clout unfortunately. Later however
Bruce from Bruce’s records got them a break
@@lindalorko4478 INXS came across them in Calgary with the song what you need nother awesome band and devo high school days
The music industry has gone backwards, this song is an example of bands in the past were way superior than today.
Not only music went backwards. Welcome to 2020. Bye bye humankind. We had paradise in the 50,60,70,80s and did not know until now. Hasta NO vista baby.
nonsense
including Simple Minds, their current sound is such fluff
Amen
And he took his own packed lunch oan stage wi uhm
I'm from a small southern town in Alabama. Back in the 80's when a teenage boy had two choices of music he was allowed to listen to, Country or Heavy Metal, I chose to read music magazines that covered musicians from the entire music industry. From there I found Joy Division, Siouxsie & the Banshees, Nick Cave, Sonic Youth, Swans, Einstürzende Neubauten, and Simple Minds. It wasn't easy getting my buddies to check any of these incredible artists out, but that became their loss. Not putting down the country and metal music by any means, all music has it's place. But Simple Minds, with this song, this mix, this energy, proves beyond any doubt that in the final assessment of eighties music, it ultimately, without question, did not suck.
Many metals bands especially the European ones were heavily influenced by these 80s rock/new wave icons. Just saying.
@griffinmoore6819: Just read this (late again) - brilliant comment recognizing the emergence of euro music in the Americas (not just the British invasion). But don't forget the American contribution of "Soul" to the British scene... While many Americans were just being introduced to electro-pop, UK dj's where bangin' the American dance tracks. (Me too). Z: 😇❤👍👍
imagine being this young, this brave and this cool with this timeless classic.
Imo, we have to thank the UK music scene for keeping the musical wheels of evolution moving at that time...and to a degree, ever since
I remember this I never forgot this classic it was so cool back then not like the bullshit today if I had a time machine I would go back even for one day
I saw them in Glasgow Tiffany's 1982!!!❤
The BEST song EVER by Simple Minds. Perfection. Play loud and get up onto your living room dance floor and shake it out?! Love 'Love Song'
My favourite as well, definitely play it loud, let the rhythm take over you and shake it any way you want. Great band and a great extended mix 👍
Watta song !!!!
Watta band !!!!
Watta feeling !!!
Watta decade the 80"s !!!
Thanx Jim, Charly, Derek, Mick, Brian, Mel and John for simple minds along the fabulous 80's
Watta comment ! You must seriously like the 80's. Totally agree....

Once upon a time when there was awesome bands with awesome musicians that made awesome music 🎶🎶
Yep, once upon a time😢
Blew my mind when I first heard this decades ago and still my favourite Minds track to this day. Will be played in 50 years time and still sound fresh, that's how good it is!
John: "Blew my mind" says it all - I do this for fun, but when someone says that; it makes me feel it was worth while. I know how you feel - thank you! z:
That bass is brutal
Yep....The amazing Derek Forbes!
justice is not the word ,this is the best remix of this song I have ever heard.
The best period of my life..
Best period of our life you ment !!!....no doubt about that !!!...

Crying here..................
First listen was in 81, stoned on hash, brand new track on the radio, brand new group. I was with some mates, doin nothing. I was 18, blown away & now nearly 55 I still love it for the groove the electro romance & in a way a ground breaking tune for the times
Ul b loving it now evercunts on hash now ul fit rite in
same age here, I discovered this in 85, couldn't believe what I was hearing, still a massive fan
Was never into bob hope give me booze everytime seen them at shef city hall they didnt play this
Not everybody
That bass guitar. One of my favourite SM tracks. Extended Magic.
Still keep coming back to this, fantastic! Oh to be back in the late 70's / 80's
Mind blowing masterpiece by Scotland’s greatest group
Timeless and simply brilliant ))......can't believe this banging tune is 35 years old...!
Peter Hannah beleve me times is so fast
Sure is.. a 1981 classic and never gets airplay
This tune is 40 years old now, ffs... and still the best tune when you hear this walking into any place
@@markfrankman2647This tune is now over 42 years old counting I still have the 12 inch vinyl but sold my turntable a couple of decades ago! Love early Simple Minds ❤
SM said it best “Glory Days”! Hopefully bands of this calibre will emerge again somewhere sometime.
I HOPE SO .. ITS LIKE GREAT CREATIVENESS HAS SLOWED DOWN AND THE AIRWAVES TODAY ARE CLUTTERED WITH ORGANIZED DESPAIR -- AUTOTONE COMPUTERIZED VOICES AND LIMITTED TALENT . MEANINGLESS LYRICS
in summer time...
Simple Minds, one of my favourite bands back in the 80's and still are to this day. Wish I had gone to see them live in their heyday. Awesome track.
Neil: I agree - I actually saw them before they peaked, and (unfortunately 😜) recently.
It's not that they were bad, they weren't, I completely enjoyed the entire concert; but the view of Jim Kerr wincing around the stage spoiled the illusion. Though not as much as watching Fleetwood Mac members stroll onto stage with walkers disguised as music stands a few years back...
One of the best band from the 80s with depeche mode 😍
Yep, love both bands...
I agreed
Totally agree 100%
U2 , Depeche mode and the smiths
New Order
They really did have a unique sound!
They still do, still preforming too
the first man with a man bag, how awesome
The 80's The best period of great bands!
Oh yeah...
After so many years LOVE SONG still stirs my heart and brain, SIMPLE MINDS 👏
From a metal head loved these guys and Duran Duran
kevin: Yep, I personally know people who crossed genres in appreciation of SM. I was a soul and northern soul DJ but still loved these guys. Great comment!
I’m addicted to this......it makes me happy!
Love this extended version, the short version was my favourite SM track but it was too short , hypnotic indeed must be the bass line ...far out
A class band, and years ahead of everybody else at the time.
That intro is SICK!!!! My second favorite SM song next to "New Gold Dream"!!!
Intro: Thanks, (it's my favorite). New Gold Dream: It's high on my list too. Hard to choose one with such a brilliant collection to select from!
Completely agree with your ranking there - this is such a killer of a track, but "New Gold Dream" is another beast altogether...
❤i agree 100%, 👍
My 🥁, set, my bowl🌿, full of simple minds, 🎶rock & roll, everlasting timeless classic , 🎶🌿🥁😅 ROCK ON !!!!!!!
A band that's completely on top of their game here. Simple Minds in their prime were Rock Royalty.
Sooooo Agree!!! I drooooool watching ...missing my youth with excitement!!! Driving in Mustang down the highway with this tune or other greats blasting my speakers!!! BEST FEELING of FREEDOM!!!!!!!!!!!! 80'S RULE!!! STILL!!!
Man ... excellent job of making a great song even better. The bass line and beat just keeps on going ....
That bass is so (technically) simple, but so mindful. Man does it drive it home.
This is a conundrum.
Im am (in equal parts)so grateful for the uploader for posting this work of art whilst been equally enraged by the ill timed add placement.
@jefftron1504: No conundrum - it sucks. I really appreciate the comment - it's a problem that's been going on for many years. No immediate solution with RUclips. (They are not my ads, and RUclips doesn't allow me to prevent in-stream ads). You could try zhd-net.ca/?selectedItemId=23 (a work in progress) which (for now) doesn't seem to add ads. Please help me by providing feedback etc. etc. Z: Cheers mate!
Love this Song , Great Extended Mix ...Played it for 8 hours Straight
(Missed this comment) - 8 hours? You are one sick dude! LOL (Gotta admit it, the video mix took 4 weeks, 4 hours per night - felt pretty sick myself - well worth it) Thanks for the upbeat comment.
Hatch Back .. and on and on and .. its infectious .. heartbeat under ..
Yes a great song.!!!.
Big fan since the early years! Great band, great songs even with the new band members sounds absolutely fantastic! Well done girls! You both amazing! .....and the rest of the band of course!!
Saw them in 79 supporting Magazine at Liverpool Empire on the "Secondhand Daylight" tour. "Life In A Day" and "Chelsea Girl" won it and I have been behind them since. Their back catalogue deserves ultimate respect. From clubs to stadiums and people still liked them. The one phrase I never hear: "I USED to like Simple Minds"
Brian: re: never heard phrase... TOTALLY agree.
You would hear that from me, I USED to like Simple Minds, I still ONLY like their early stuff, cannot stand anything post New Gold Dream.
dancing like no one is watching Whooplaaa !! :D
Andrea Snoepie
That’s the only way to dance Lady.
😉
👍😁
Growing up in a musical family I started learning guitar at 6 but lost interest in it. Then at 9yrs I learnt the piano for 10yrs then picked up the flute, chose it because being a female thought it was a beautiful delicate instrument and learnt that for 7yrs but geez I wish I persevered with the guitar. I find the different sounds the peddles can do and I love it in this song. 1982, 12yrs old.
Kerr single handedly invents the "man bag"

Yes this is pure ART/ avantgarde.....man the 80s decade was so fine.....topnoch all the way. Further more: MacNeill and Forbes were always very stylish and half gods looking at their craft and talent, really.
So true of the name artist they where artist
That impact one band can have!
I was there. Roadie for Simple Minds
kcufdam: Had to be the best job in the world - very jealous!
@@zhd-net It was when they were gigging and taking their own stuff of the wee van. Me and my mate were outside waiting for gig to begin so we gave them a hand in with some gear. Hey Presto - we became roadies for Simple Minds. Ps. Think I had ballet shoes on and eyeliner ha ha - strange roadie. Lol
@@kcufdam More makeup than the band! LOL
I could listen to that Bass Groove, all day long. Fantastic remix zhd. It's totally seamless! Even though its 10 minutes long, it sure doesn't seem like it.
Someone......Doc Brown....Marty.....anybody.....just give me a time machine so I can get back to the 80`s😜🤪🤩
I'm not sure it gets any better than this.
Keeping the signal PURE. 😊❤😊❤😊
Great song....Great mix!
They don't make em like that anymore
I love you tube!! it's my time machine. LOVE SONG!!!
Thank you for the upload!
Please work on other SM singles and great songs, from this one to 1985 (Come a Long Way). All those great songs deserve your treatment, and longer versions!!
Maravilha,esta bela canção,gosto de ouvir belas músicas,dos anos 80's.....
Countdown performance in December, 1981 in Melbourne Australia. Timeless. I love what you created here!!!!
Sons & Fascination was The SM Album that IGNITED me as a Fan , DM U2 CURE Chameleons , CLASH Siouxsie JD .So Many.ICONIC Bands... It was an Amazing Time for Music !
Esta banda simplemente es extraordinaria tanto por sus sonidos experimentales y esos riffs y su estilo en general q la hacen única en su especie.
zhd..this is awesome, thanks for sharing. Brilliant memories of these days!
This is so excellent, cannot belive i found this copy on youtube, cannot wait to ride all over Brantford with this blasting from my potent bicycle hehe. love it!
When Simple Minds were touched by genius................
a top song of all time! Totally fantastic show at Massey Hall in '81 or so~!
Pure awesome, wish I could have seen them in concert ❤️
I've seen that they do occasionally tour, I'm waiting for them to do my local casino :-) I've seen recent videos, they sound great but, what can I say, Jim is not quite as stylist as he was back then.... (no bag) LOL
They still tour. Seen them in the UK twice, and in Australia twice. They have a website, join up for tour date notifications.
I did - once at the Mars Bar club in Glasgow and then an amazing night at the Musicians Club in Sydney.. fab times
@@kylerb2 Lucky lucky you!
Your version is better than SM's original 12" mix! Love, love, love it! Thankyou! I still wish that I was in the Countdown audience the day that they filmed this in the studio. 😎
Linda: Comments like this make it all worthwhile - thank you.
I ran across and old casstte mix tape with an LP recorded version and can't get it the beat out of my head - your eXtended DEVOTION mix takes it to another level THANK YOU!
So bloody cool, thank you
bless their hearts, hearts of steel!
Great job!!!!!!! I luv what you have done I'm just starting to listen to your work and I am impressed. The 80s was my favorite decade the music and the parties oh and the women I was in my 20s in the 80s riding my Harley and having a great time. You brought back some great memories. Thanks.
JB: Unfortunately I don't remember a large part of the eighties. I seem to recall weekly trips between the North, South and Middle of England, always exceeding the speed limit and desperate to get to the gig on time. So busy DJing, barely noticed, never mind having time for, the ladies. At least I'm glad to find someone who did enjoy it. Thanks for the comment ;-)
This is done with Looovvee!!! Brilliant!!
Great SM EVER
Come on everyone who loves this track and give it some rice onRUclips and anywhere else you can.
Spectacular cool drummer
Best version ever. Thanks zhd. ❤
Pure magic has been done, awesome remix. Man I miss the 80's, let me get my qualudes!
Wheeeeeeeeeee! My memories of the eighties are pretty much all in strobe. Couldn't do it now!

Wow! ... just WOW!!
Jon. 3 words, worth more than any picture. Thanks.
one of best music vids on here. brilliant
Super . Thx. Hope some of you have been on a dance floor at 3am and this comes on.
Scorpii: It's been a while since I hit the dance floor - my excuse was always "DJ's don't dance" - not sure that's valid any more..... and 3am? What's that? LOL.
just wow...
A great tune I listened to religiously while in University.......just made better! Simple Minds should give you credit!. Well done!
Superb remix! The only problem with the original was it was too short, so thanks for the extended version of my favorite SM tune!!
Behind: I get a LOT of flak for lack of mix originality - it's nice to get a comment from someone who understands the true reason for these... I hate having to hit the replay button!
@@zhd-net nevermind the haters zhd, you nailed it. This is the mix we needed in the dance clubs back in the 80's!
@@behind_nme_lines_ca531 So true. Although I did try...
When I think that 10 minutes is too short, I think you have done really well.
It's a fine line between successful extension and a long, boringly repetitive track - a line I've crossed many times. I think this is one of my better efforts and it's nice to believe that at least one other person thinks this is not a total fail. Thank you.
The level off the bass is fabulous. I need to put this on a CD.
Priceless!!!!!!

Love thesong. Thanks for the great remix and video!
2022,,,no need for a band ,,,just a handsome thing and a man cave . ,,,
Saw these guys in a small university club in Western Canada when they first came over to NA. They were inspired on stage and clearly high on inspiration having reached the New World and exposing their talent. I was a university DJ and had been playing their music among others like Pylon and the Stooges. Their PA was painfully loud.
4111: Simply awesome! As an ex-DJ myself I'm always impressed when I hear from someone who had the opportunity to meet what are now icons before they were as famous. And yes, love the old school painful volume. 🙂Z:
Jim Kerr was my first crush!
Kozimer Doolah
Good taste! He was delicious.
Love to see Jim dance.
Lee: Saw them in 2019, he's a bit slower, but still has the moves (lost the man-bag though)
Outstanding! On and on!
