Don't think the expansion will be significant enough to change it's natural frequency appreciably. I would guess the elastic modulus would be making more of a contribution, as well as an a decrease of it's natural damping characteristics with temperature. I would really like to know the answer though
My first thought was the bell alloy must become more homoginous or crystalline in structure as the temperature increases. I cannot see how a slight difference in alloy expension could change the damping characteristics so significantly; I would expect the resonant frequency to change the most.

The bell heated so quickly because there are no gaps within the bell itself for heat to escape. As for the alloy and the tones produced, I'm not one who can explain.
It´s like a cup of fresh warm coffee and a spoon. Tip the spon on the inner floor of your cup, when filled up with coffee. The tone frequency will rise to a ring bell tone shorty bevor it will sound muffled and gated.

Hola, me alegro de que te gusten los videos. ¡Cuando no estoy creando los videos, bailo tango argentino!
@@grandillusions ooh! Realmente me sorprendió usted varón! Castellano perfecto! Es genial que bailes tango! En casa tebgo un autografo que mi abuelo me pasó del maestro Juan d'arienzo! Ya compartí el video con mis familiares. Saludos!
if it only works in fiery conditions then it must be one of hells bells
Brian Clarke It would make a splendid sauna bell.

Elder vsauce. Science is still his favorite hobby.
the elder v sauce...nice name
I love this man's videos. His presentation strikes some sort of nostalgia
God bless you tim, this unexpected video made my day better
The bell heated so quickly because there are no gaps within the bell itself for heat to escape. As for the alloy and the tones produced, I'm not one who can explain.
Really cool bell and demonstration. Thank you.
I don't know who this guy is or why im getting recommended his videos, but im intrigued
Im glad he got what he wanted but damn 20 years
This bell was created to announce the air temperature in ancient China. If the bell rang over the city, they would now it was hot!
100C is boling temperature for water.
How often does it go up that high in China?
31 degrees in the room???
That's HOT. 87 degrees ambient?!
It´s like a cup of fresh warm coffee and a spoon. Tip the spon on the inner floor of your cup, when filled up with coffee. The tone frequency will rise to a ring bell tone shorty bevor it will sound muffled and gated.
that guy is us. 60 years from now.
Well yea he is human
Sweet.
You are wise beyond your current years sir.
my god I hope I dont turn the temperature up to 90 at that age and call it comfortable
No, I plan on still using real words then.
Thanks for the new video Sir
Would have been nice to have had a little explanation of the science behind this (I'm guessing the expansion of the metal with the heat or something?)
Khola illusionist
the bell has a crack and heating it simply forces the crack together
Amazon has a production run of them with workers cracking them skillfully
Ahhhhhhhh! Thanks!
The way this works is its 2 pieces which don’t fit and dampen the noise but the heat makes them fit properly.
Part of me is wondering why you wouldn't just make a bell that resonates at ambient temperature, and another part tells the first part to shut up because it's pretty. A fine example of the "because" principle of engineering.
yea. definitely one of those show off because I figured it out and I can do it. A pretty interesting piece.
because lighting the fire makes you cool at parties, jk i want to know too
"It's dropped a quarter of a tone" Yep, he's a musician.
