All these toys are linked by the fact that they involve sand flowing from one place to another. Sometimes this flow can create amazing images, sometimes static images, and sometimes moving ones. In other cases the flowing sand gradually reveals words or a picture. And in at least one case, the flowing sand provides the energy which powers a toy's movement. - Наука
Finally found a type of ASMR that works for me; old man talking about sand
ASMR is for perverts.
+BugPope No it's not lol. asmr is any sound at all that gives you tingles like tapping or whispering. nothing pervy about it
I dont like those kinds of asmr videos anyway. I just like the noise ones, not the role plays
+BugPope Japanese Anime is some of the most perverted media in the world. barely scratch the surface and you get Chicks on their knees begging, teary eyed. You talk about ASMR and have so much Japanese pent up angst?
+nodoubtjd111 lol
You are like the grandfather I never had who just came back from his archeology adventures in the mysterious deserts and mountains of the Orient/Africa with strange artifacts.
+Eratosthenes but he forgot to bring them so he just shows you the things he made with the sand he collected after digging
Ben Abbott Haha, yea!
How come everytime an elderly person has a TV Show or RUclips channel someone always has to say “you’re that grandpa I never had”
He only does it part time.
this.
The sand powered wheel driven box was amazing. No springs, batteries, belts or rubber. A toy thats almost immortal if kept dry.
Absolutely. What a genius invention!
it’s one of the oldest mechanical devices too
I feel like I'm gaining brain cells just listening to this guy.
+TheDaftWizard omg lol me2
+hikoseijuro922 Are you sure you aren't losing brain cells?
***** yea losing the half functioning ones to be gained as fully functioning xD
Same. I feel all educated now
TheDaftWizard Same man i love this guy
I see a thousand people have said this before, but I *must* say it again:
I just watched an old man talk about sand for 11 minutes. And it was every bit as mesmerising as it does not sound.
This man has singlehandedly restored all the faith in humanity I have lost on the Internet today.
Subscribed.

I second that.

If there is a God (which is not a good discussion topic in youtube), I imagine him like this, marvelled by every little thing humans have made.
Literally Everything there is a god
There is not.
Digital Dirk you are the reason he was insecure about posting his harmless comment.
Sleepy Pup I would blame Toadster06 first
Literally Everything 100th like
this is a video about sand... WHY IS IT SO INTERESTING!!!
Crimson Vulpes ...because why not?
Tim
It's Tim.
this is literally the most entertaining/boring video I have ever watched. bravo.
what
+Michael Davis yar yep yer
ha i was just thinking the same thing im bored as fuck but i cant stop watching
Dumb recommended videos
+Michael Davis I subbed. Definitely different than channels now a days being all hyperactive and shit...it gets old. I like these videos. Some are funny, but most of all they're relaxing, plus he sounds badass!
Half of the joy I get from this is the accent.
Watching and listening to this guy speak calms me down like no other drug
He’s the best drug ever. Except pain meds when women are on their periods
When the sand man starts talking about sand.
My eyes are suddenly about 10 times harder to keep open.
Only here would I watch sand falling down for 10 minutes.
Lemme guess why u feeling down...mmm...constipation??
Viikond Damn, haven't played that in a long time, thanks for reminding me!
+Constipated_Llama hey just to let you know your profile picture triggered me

"Night Out with the Boys"
He said it before it was even popular
Maybe what is too be learned is that it's been popular for years and years, and not the other way around
@@inigo137 So it’s not “years and years for popular been it’s that is learned be too is what maybe”?
@@PolyChromium You fried my mind for a second there. Kudos!
A phrase that's been in use for generations wasn't "popular" until zoomers discovered it?
@@jtofgc That's literally how teenagers think. "If it wasn't invented in the 15 years I've been alive, it might as well be fictional."
Right. Who are the 300 people that disliked this? I came here to watch Tim and kick ass. And I'm all out of Tim.
SilverMoon same 😂
SilverMoon I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere.
They have sand in their vaginas.
I love the water.
I love Tim too. It's fun trying to figure out what he's saying.
typical Grand Illusions video, they start off with the very first product and proceed to blow my mind.
I have found the channel that's so peaceful and can interest me at 3am while I'm trying to sleep, thank you Tim
SAME but it's 6 Am ... i'm tired of netflix and not sleeping So I came here lol
"Out of the formless, becomes form"
Deep.
The ball-bearing doesn't go through the sand when it's on top of it. When you shake it, a little bit will actually fall through the gap under the ball and make a step for the ball to go upwards, shake by shake, until it's back at the top.
the black sand and water actually looks like a pretty realistic representation of larva eruptions, pretty cool.
larva eruptions )))
I was thinking if you filmed it close-up, and maybe flipped it to negative, it would be totally passible. Cheap FX without the instant incineration.
;)
@Monkey - That's my Death Metal band's name.
;P
I wonder where you can buy those because I would definitely buy it
larva eruptions are not very healthy
Dear Tim, I very rarely write comments, but I must say, your wonderful little collection of novelties and other peculiarities is incredibly fascinating, and I find your personality to be extremely charming. You are genuinely the only youtube channel that I can watch non stop, without your videos becoming grating. I wish you the best in any future endeavours that you might pursue, and I am looking forward to more videos like this, showcasing your wonderful collection.
am i the only person who loves "the riddle in the sands" title? its so interesting it makes me want to watch the video
If you see a bit past 7:26, the sand rises with his finger. This Jolly Good Sir is a peculiar fellow.
Tim once again shows us the wonders of sand through the way it flows rather than timers, with an amazing collection of almost hypnotising sand toys! Wonderful. :)
ThePlamzJoker Hello there! I found you! (btw make more with tim now or else) (and no I don't know what or else means) (JUST DOO ITTT!!!)
I could listen to that man all day long
He kinda reminds me of david attenbourough. Ever watch blue planet? Im convinced this guy is related to him
@@pastelfirefly8355 YES!
Nola haha, blueplanet is my veg out show
I don’t why this was recommended to me
But Now I know more about sand then I did when I started
That sand wand has given my fear of being buried alive a small reprieve.
Tim, you beautiful genius, you never fail to entertain me even when I'm at my worst
***** His videos helped to cheer me up during my recent breakup. This man is a legend
There's just something about these videos!
Masky Hope everything gets better soon
+JaySweatshirt I just found this channel and I love it. Which is your favorite of his?
I can't honestly choose a single video, but the one that really intrigued me was the plethora of candles that he had!

This reminds me of finding joy in the simple things of life.
Such wonderful objects
"Quite watchable". You got that right, pal.
It's 2 am and here I am.
it's 6 am and here i am

I tell my self: I say ' stop. One more. That's it'
and now I think there's someone else doing the same with me.

I need to go to school tomorrow and it's 12:49 at night 😆😆😆😆😞😞😞😞😖😖😖😰😰😰😥😥
This channel feeds curiosity in a calm way, and provides the sober grandpa we all wanted.
I'm this kid's drunken grandpa, can confirm
the last one is pure genius
It's after midnight and I'm sitting here watching sand..like sand through the hour glass so are the days of our lives
these videos help me fall asleep, and i mean that in a good way. they’re soothing
I have no idea why I like this channel.
(But I really do)
Tim's a cool guy.
Good old Tim giving it some hand action, moving his ball up.
You should be proud of your RUclips channel just read the comments I didn't find one bad comment... Bravo!
Bad comment.
Lol...
3:11 I love how quickly his smile disappears
*HEH*
i wonder how amazing those old days toys were purely close to nature even they were much simpler but yet they were made by those peoples who have deep thoughts and great knowledge about universe and time
Well... no. People being from "old days" doesn't mean they have "Deep thoughts and great knowledge", that's just stupid. They're people, like you and me. They probably just thought "Hey that looks cool".
@China Pakistan, strange name. I would never think of an occasion to associate those two countries. Reason?
Tim shakes his wand until his ball comes out, extraordinary...
Where am I? Why is this man on RUclips? Why is this so boring yet so entertaining? I have so many questions...
+Kirodev the secret is to be boring so you want to watch something entertaining but lo an behold the video is also very entertaining thus fueling its self further. you try to fill your entertainment levels but the video is expertly crafted to hand you a bucket with a hole in it.
You can watch them forever and be entertained because it will keep you bored ;D
If teachers were like this you could go to school learn boring stuff all day and when it was time to go home you wouldn't want to leave. Rather you would want to stay and learn more not knowing why.
+Kittsuera Is that bucket filled with sand?
(Im sorry I had to, but thank you for the fact I feel enlightened now)
Yes "the sands of your free time" ^-^;
+Kirodev Sometimes simple, small things can be the most interresting. Entertainment does not always have to be over dramatized and gimmicky to the max like the crap on TV.
Truer words have never been said
Thank you so much for this! I have been fascinated by sand toys ever since I received a Magic Picture Window similar to the Wham-o one you show here. Years later I came across another one at a yard sale. They were enjoyed by my children too.
Here is my theory about the sand and the ball bearing. When shaken the sand and bearing become air-born very briefly, and the sand fills in under the ball bearing due to it's weight and mass pushing the sand out of the way as it _jumps_ with each shake.
Cat From The Future its*
Cat From The Future i felt it was just common sencein physics
Lmao yeah I thought this would just be common sense.
* AnimalHeadSpirit * they put him in the great salt lake, or somewhere equally salty, the corrosive nature totally would have disintegrated his body, even the skeleton. We may never find him
That is of course common sense, but for a cat, that is a remarkable piece of deduction.
I hate sand, it's coarse and rough and gets everywhere.
Cameron McAllister you should touch different types of sand. I've touched sand so fine it was like powder
It got into my recommended videos as well.
I've brought peace, freedom, and water from my new Nile.
Mønkey 😅
Still a lame line, Anakin
This channel is just so relaxing just a wise old man talking about kids toys i love it
What a chill video.
I love his understated enthusiasm. :) Good stuff.
I love these! About every month or two I'll come back and just binge watch these videos, even the ones I've seen before. Very entertaining! Tim is great at keeping my attention for the long pauses when waiting for something to happen, or even just explaining things that I already know. Fantastic stuff!
I found this channel today at around 3. it is now 10. This is the most relaxing channel I've ever come across
I'm pretty sure this was the first *Grand Illusions* video I watched & I've been hooked ever since.
Many thanks, both for the fascinating look into such a remarkable industry and the respite from a stressful & disturbing reality.
the sand tree art is also been done without the glue
but with a lot of patience
I was today years old when I learned that's how a volcano worked.
I'm sure you have seen kinetic sand in stores now, it's like a solid that pours like liquid, it feels moist but never dries out. I think really it is a silica sand. Made in Sweden I believe.

silicone oil
extraordinary. heh.
Thankyou for sharing your wonderful collection Tim :) I particularly loved seeing the really old acrobat sand toy, I had seen one of these in the Museum Of Childhood, its fantastic to see it in action!
Everyone that Tim has had close contact with during his life mocked him behind his back, for the hoarding of completely useless inanimate objects.
Look who is laughing now!
#datyoutubemoney
Who mocked him ?
@@disclose_beauty friends, probably
*evil people*
I doubt anyone who would meet Tim would be willing to mock him.
The channel's not monetized, dude. Didn't you notice the lack of ads?
Your assumption: Bitter and unappreciated, hoards toys in expectation of future wealth and fame so he can rub his niche hobby in everyone's face
Actual Tim: Loved by everybody, never thinks about money or popularity, gets popular anyway for being gentle and happy
THIS IS LIKE ASMR. OMG IM FALLING ASLEEP, I LOVE IT! Haha!
lovely87173 I find ASMR videos annoying, this is much better!
Well, ASMR is just a type of tingling feeling, so you could get it by watching anything.. If this gives you that special feeling, it IS ASMR.
VollderFred Uhm... that's why I wrote ASMR 'videos'!
You should read comments carefully before making smartass remarks ; )
DerEchteBold ASMR cannot be felt by everyone. You are part of the unfortunate group.
DerEchteBold But I was talking to lovely, because he/she said it is LIKE ASMR.. I just accidently deleted the "+lovely" ;D
Ich finde das geflüster übrigens auch nich so toll. =D
"It's the most coveted of all the sand" ... I wish my life was happy enough to covet sand.
I had a few toys like this growing up. They're very relaxing and hypnotic. My favorite was one of the sand-in-water kind with white and black sand. Made lovely patterns.
i swear this is ashens father
Now that you mention it, yeah.
OH MY GOD YASSS

Yeah
+Ben Abbott I'm struggling a bit to see that
Oh my gosh i actually have that final toy! I had no idea it was powered by sand, i always thought it was just momentum
The best channel on RUclips. Just love these videos, thank you!
I keep waiting to see a Tim video where he reviews some ancient artifacts that dissolve the walls of reality and bring men to madness.

I came to the comments to see like this.
Worth it.
I grew up with a sand sculpture toy. I would mess with it all the time thinking how much an artist I am lol until a cousin of mine came over and showed me what it was really capable of.
It's like listening to my Grandpa storytelling, it makes me sleepy.
The rising ball is based on what's adorably called the Macadamia nut effect. Google it, it's pretty astounding! :D
That was thoroughly interesting to watch,
thank you, from the States/Chicago.
I used to collect sand struck by lightning - at least I think that is what it was. And there is the Buddhist term of ''As many as there are grains of sand in the Ganges'', talking about an impossible number for the river Ganges is huge. I always thought sand was a curious thing. I really like your channel, seldom do I encounter a host with such good easy speech. It's refreshing. Hope to see more interesting stuff.
Wow! I really loved this one! That acrobat at the end was phenomenal! And the hills/mountains... terrific!
This collection and demo is wonderfully fascinating. A life of collecting and being amazed. Thank you for sharing!!

OH, it's the end of the video...
Fantastic video, first i've seen of yours. I loved it!! :)
Fascinating collection! Thank you for sharing!
wwhy is this grandpas voice so calming?
all the anxiety i have had, has been washed away by sand of all things
3:26 not all of them are done this way. I watched someone making it awhile ago. They actually move the sand grains around using a needle or something like that to make the picture.
what a relaxing show.
Tim, you are a role model to all of us ageing men. You give us all the idea on how to be a perfect grandpa. Much appreciated. Thank you!
This man is absolutely delightful. He could be doing literally anything and I would watch it.
2:45 ...there's just something about Tim shaking that tube. Heh.
i love your accent, i couldn't understand everything you said but i enjoyed every minute
Tim you absolutely make my day! Listening to you is so calming
I remember years ago these sand pictures were so common. Enjoyed this as a first time visitor.
He reminds me of the episode of Always sunny in Philadelphia when Charley becomes a genius lmao
