Microsoft Windows, commonly referred to as Windows, is a group of several proprietary graphical operating system families, all of which are developed and marketed by Microsoft. Each family caters to a certain sector of the computing industry. Active Microsoft Windows families include Windows NT and Windows IoT; these may encompass subfamilies, (e.g. Windows Server or Windows Embedded Compact) (Windows CE). Defunct Microsoft Windows families include Windows 9x, Windows Mobile, and Windows Phone.
Microsoft introduced an operating environment named Windows on November 20, 1985, as a graphical operating system shell for MS-DOS in response to the growing interest in graphical user interfaces (GUIs). Microsoft Windows came to dominate the world's personal computer (PC) market with over 90% market share, overtaking Mac OS, which had been introduced in 1984, while Microsoft has in 2020 lost its dominance of the consumer operating system market, with Windows down to 30%, lower than Apple's 31% mobile-only share (65% for desktop operating systems only, i.e. "PCs" vs. Apple's 28% desktop share) in its home market, the US, and 32% globally (77% for desktops), where Google's Android leads.
Apple came to see Windows as an unfair encroachment on their innovation in GUI development as implemented on products such as the Lisa and Macintosh (eventually settled in court in Microsoft's favor in 1993). On PCs, Windows is still the most popular operating system in all countries. However, in 2014, Microsoft admitted losing the majority of the overall operating system market to Android, because of the massive growth in sales of Android smartphones.

One of my friends did this and I never knew it was possible thanks for the info and making things clear
Happy I could help :)
@@Scoby Please, please help me. I'm losing my mind trying to figure this out. When I connect my Pro Controller to my PC via wire, it doesn't connect. Bluetooth is fine, but can't do it via a USB cable. Steam keeps detecting is as all sorts of things -- Xbox 360 controller, Xbox One controller, unknown controller etc. Is there a fix to this?
@@Scoby hey why my home button doesn’t light up
5 years and the issue of Windows not detecting the pro controller still isn't fixed, or anyone refuses to acknowledge it. The sheer amount of comments on all these videos shows that there's obviously and issue and it doesn't work "just like that". I've tried 2 pro controllers on two separate PC's, multiple USB cables. Not once has any of them ever even been detected by Windows, yet I can get some shitty $10 controller and it will work fine.
im buying a small bluetooth adapter for my pc i recommend you do too
you ever find a work around regardless tho?
for me it shows its connected, but it never works even though it works perfectly on my switch
@@joba327 mine does as well its a mini switch controller.
Find any fixes yet?
@@grandmasterxam Nope, hopefully I get it to work though
thanks for the tutorial. every text guide i looked up told me to look at the sync light at the top for some reason when syncing via bluetooth and not at the bottom of the controller so i assumed it just wasn't working. i appreciate it!
Tried connecting my controller via USB and it just wont work, it doesnt seem to detect it at all, any advice on what to do?
Make sure your cable can transfer data, not just power.
I used the cable included with the controller and it doesn't work
I had to unpair my Pro-Controller with EVERY Switch it was connected to in the past. After that the USB method worked fine for me. (Just use the cable that came with the Controller and you should be fine in terms of the cable)
@@GoofDogg how do I unpair the controller ?
@@TimViolaSSB From your Homescreen go to options>controller...(3rd option from bottom) and go way down to the last option. Should be "reset synchronization" or something like that (sorry my system is not set to english).
That tiny button in front of my pro controller worked. Thanks for letting me know of that! No wonder it can't see my controller o.o
So my question is, does it have to be that exact controller or can it be any pro controller as long as it has the button and the flashing lights because my lights are still going left to right
Any pro controller works
im having the same problem
@@santiagocaballero4672 I have a third party pro controller that says it's paired, but doesn't give any output, and has no light flashed on the front.
same issue with me it says its connected but the lights are sill flashing
Effective and well explained, cheers xoxo
Thank you! I was able to connect my Pro Controller onto my gaming laptop. This worked to get across xbox cloud gaming for Fortnite.
thx man
It worked for me, but the diagonals don't extend enough to reach the corners of the square
when i plug the pro controller into my pc, the red charging light of the pro controller turn on and my pc doesnt reconise my pro controller how can i fix this?
same im not sure if its the fact that my controller is themed mario controller but i highly doubt it
THANK YOU!
Happy I could help!
Does this also count for the nintendo wireless afterglow?
Hi how can i use it only with wired connection as wireless has a lot of input lag
Can you connect your phone to the pC via the Bluetooth and use your phone and a controller? Or backwards and use your PC to controller your phone or even your Switch??
None of these options worked for me, when i plugged it in, it said it was an unrecognized device and through bluetooth, its recognized as an input (keyboard) instead of a controller, is there anything i can do
Having the same issue
U have to unpair / disconnect from Nintendo switch.
For some odd reason I had been trying to connect it via usb cable and also bluetooth but it didn’t work, I watched your video and it suddenly decided to work for me. Later I disconnected the controller and tried to pair it up afain following the sams steps before but now it deosn’t connect again, is there something I could possibly be doing wrong?
Same
Well that was easier than I thought. Should have done it years ago
i plugged in the controller to my non bluetooth pc and the blue light doesnt glow, any fixes?
The blue light turns on but touching the controller doesn’t do anything meaning it’s connected but the inputs don’t work so I can’t use it. Can someone help me.
worked for me, I needed to hold the home button
I tried connecting it via blue tooth and it just would not add. Any ideas on what todo?
How do you do it with the Horipad S?
Will you be doing an PCSX2 Retroarch video for Windows
I can look into it in the coming weeks :)
It does nothing for me. Windows 10 sees that the controller is connected and it has an "ok" status, but the controller won't even turn on for it. I tried the sync button, nothing. I tried updating my drivers/looked automatically for the best drivers, no luck. I feel like burning my PC instead.
Edit: I hear "The noise" but it won't turn on.
I have resorted to the DUALSHOCK 4 controller and it works wonderfully.
Same with me, plug in the switch controller with cable, detected on my PC but not working. I'm using window 7 64 bit. I thought I need to use windows 10. Trying to install REWASD an error pop out said Microsoft.Net framework 4.7.2 or later is not installed. Return to dualshock 4.
I'm having this too. My Switch Pro controller used to work just fine with Windows, maybe it's because of a firmware update.
I have a Nintendo switch pro controller which I’m trying to Connect wirelessly to my computer so I can play Grandtheft auto But it doesn’t seem to be connecting properly works fine when you connect it with the cable I just want to know why wireless isn’t working
does this work with pdp wired deluxe nintendo pro controller
A bit more detail is needed, even for the wired scenario. When I plug in USB, I get a solid red light. I'm assuming this means the controller itself is low on charge. Windows 10 has recognised and detected the device, but so far it's not been recognised in any games. Does this mean folks like myself need to get a full charge before the device will be useable?
the problem that i am facing is that my controller just won't connect the PC plays the sound to tell me that a device connected but the my controller just won't connect to the pc. I am using the cable that came withe said pro controller (i'ts the Totk design if that helps) and i have done everything i could find. even going in to the settings of my switch and disconnecting every single controller. if anybody knows a fix for this pls tell me. Thanks in advance
So, how do I get it to actually move? It says it's connected but it doesn't actually interact with anything.
My controller connected fine but the button mapping is very screwed up. It thinks my ZL is + and all the shoulder butttons are not right. Anyone know how to change this?
doesn't work for me, when I plug my controller, windows doesn't recognize it, no blue light
Does your cable support data? It's possibly you have a charging only cable
@@Scoby well I just switch my computer, from windows 7, where it was working perfectly to windows 10, where it dont do anything
@@shadomaso did you ever find a fix, my pro controller wont work either. it only works when i have windows opened on settings but once i minimize tha window it stops working. ive tried wireless and wired. i use the same cable and my series x controller works just fine.
@@marcos4239 nop still searching, I tried another cabble but its really not working
I have a second controller, a bootleg switch controller that work, but not as good as the real one
If I ever find I will let you know
My controller doesnt have the blue ring around the home button like you have how do i know that it is working without having it
Is the switch controller charged by plugging it into the PC? or do i need a switch
when i try to connect the controller, it wont work, it says its paired but actually isnt. i tried both methods and it doesnt work, when i plug it in, the light on the top turns red but doesnt actually turn on the controller
Why does it always need pairing verytime i try to connect it again to the pc? Is there a way to fix it?
IT WORKSSSS YAYYY THANK YOU
Happy to help
I guess there was some update in Windows 4 months ago that preventing it from connecting
Both methods do not work for me
For the method with the USB Cable:
My PC shows the Pro Controller under Other Devices, but the controller is unusable, nothing works and programs like BetterJoyForCemu do not recognize the controller. And the blue lights around the home button do not turn on.
For the method with Bluetooth:
My PC can't find the Pro Controller, but it can find other things with Bluetooth.
Weird, I would ask if you can also try using another cable, not all cables support data, some only charging. So best to check that.
Also not all applications will support a pro controller by default so make sure you map it correctly as needed. On steam it requires a manual enable checkbox, I have another video on my channel showing that ^
@@Scoby My cable should support data, because I can transfer files from my phone to my pc and pc to phone.
And I have the checkbox in steam enabled, but for steam the controller is not even connected
@@Scoby My problem is not that some programs do not recognize it, my problem is that Windows 10 doesn't seem to recognize it.
@@Scoby I have the same problem. It's not a cable issue. I can connect my Pixel 4 and transfer data all day long. The "scan" leds scan as if it is trying to sync with the Switch, but of course it can't and then just stops. Blue home light never comes on, never usable in windows.
@@Scoby I got exactly the same problem :)
i was looking how to do it. the first video i found was a random guy plying a random game and explaining random shit
you just go straight to the point, usb, bluetooth and done
No time to waste time
tried doing a wired connection but for some reason the controller doesn’t light up and my pc doesn’t pick it up either, the wire is good because it works on the switch any help?
@@deadomega9950 nope sorry
OK my pro controller used to work with mame for years. Now all of a sudden the blue ring appears every time it connects to bluetooth and now it doesn't work at all. I don't use steam so why would the blue ring appear all of a sudden and my controller refuses to work on my laptop now.
It only works when plugged in to the pc if steam is open.
it doesnt work for me, my pc doesnt have bluetooth but i have a usb c cable. ports and controller are fine but it doesnt connect. my pc cant find the controller. if i connect it to my laptop everything works perfectly fine. everything was up to date i have no clue why it wont work. any ideas?
can help me to connect controller pro with no bluetooth pls cause my pc don't have bluetooth
My pro controller is connected but the light is still like in connection mode , the light of the home botton doesn’t light up , what should I do ?
Simple and straight forward. So sick of tutorials that beat around the bush. You're my fucking hero. Thank you so much
No time to waste time!
Help, my pc is making the sound and showing my switch is a device, but my controller wont turn on and the home button isnt blue, how do i fix this? im using wired
How can I use it to play games from MS like Halo MCC?:(
It doesn't allow me to use it
the weird thing is that my cheap and ass dongle can not only detect but also work with my pro controller while the new 5.0 bluetooth dongle from TP says connected but nothing works.
My tip is to use ds4 windows, betterjoy or 360ce steam is broken when it comes to nintendo controlles.
My doubt is how do you turn off the pro controller while in bluetooth mode without needing to pair it again the next time you turn it on. Holding the home button or pressing the pair button will turn it off, but next time I wanna use it I need to pair it again.
Same here
@@radioactiveali4619 After researching for a bit, it was some sort of weird incompatibility between the controller and the specific bluetooth adapter I was using. Bought another adapter and the issue was solved, I can now turn the controller off by tapping the pair button, then turn it on again pressing any button.
Found a bunch of people with the same issue on the Steam forums, and apparently it's pretty much impossible to solve without exchanging adapters altogether.
@@jstar2235 Thanks mate. Shame as I am using the inbuilt Bluetooth on my laptop :(
@@radioactiveali4619 It's a bit of a weird and nonideal solution, but you should be able to turn off the built-in bluetooth hardware and use a dongle instead.
@@jstar2235 can you tell me what adapter you bought?
Im trying to do this but it just comes up as nsw controller and whilst steam recognises it it doesnt do anything and the controller doesnt work
I was able to connect by Bluetooth, but the mapping is giving me a hard time... the right analog stick acts like the mouse, ZL is the right-click button and so on, making it impossible to map it to any game from Steam or emulators.
i just bought a new switch pro controller and i tried plugin it in with the usb cable and its not working for some reason
same bro same
I've done this for years, but just recently, it only works every now and then. When it works, it appears in the top "Mouse, keyboard, and pen" section., and when it doesn't work, it appears in the "other devices" section. It usually takes like 20 minutes of trying to reconnect it over and over again for it to finally work. I don't know why it keeps doing this, so if anyone knows, please help me out.
any solution?
@@TruemanBeatbox I had to settle for using a wire to connect the pro controller
Ok the blue light does not come on unless steam is on so who do I get it to work without steam?
So I'm having a bit of issues with mine, my pc says the device is ready to go, but the controller is still searching.
dude, the blue light does NOT light up blue, I do hear a windows sound, but I can't find it that it does register it and it does not work (wire method) and bc I have a desktop PC I have no Bluetooth bruh, can someone help me out?
Same for me
any answers to actually playing games that aren't with steam? when i try play anything my controller registers hundreds of random inputs without me doing anything
for some reason it detects the movement but seconds after when the blue light turns on eveything just doesnt work
i did the wired and wireless none worked when i put the controller in the light didnt show up
i tried this and its not detecting my pro controller so i think its not gonna work wirelessly at all for me
when i tried to do it it said driver error please help me
what if the blue light goes out when connected via usb? I will play with no problems and then sometimes the blue light will just go out and I have the hardest time trying to get it reconnected

Nice Video... but, when i try to play rocket league or any other games, the keybindings are totally different to my nintendo switch standart keybindings..... can anyone help me pls? or should i rather get a Dualshock 5/4 Controller ?
On Steam there are presets for different controllers. My Pro-Controller got the layout from a xbox-Controller at connection, but with the preset for Pro-Controllers it fixed itself. But since RL isnt on Steam anymore you wont be able to use it I guess. Dont know if Epic offers a similar service.
@@GoofDoggyou can add the game to steam
Bought a Bluetooth Dongle. First it didnt work. Had to uninstall Bluetooth drivers and restart pc. After that it worked :)
the bluetooth options ask for a controller pin to connect xd if you face this, the pin is: 0000
my controller still doesn't hook up when I use the cable and I don't know what to do
How do I play with it tho, I connected the controller and it says connected but when I try to play a game, example: Fortnite it won’t work. Someone pls help me.
mines connected but it wont respond to what im doing on my laptop
You got a guide on how to make the controller connect as player 1 when wired? Or am I stuck with it being stuck as player 2?
I have never had that issue so I would have no idea how to fix that sadly
@@Scoby Damn... I tried the trick of plugging it into every USB port, and it always makes it read as player 2. I wish I could find some kind of hack or something to read my Switch Pro controller as P1 instead of P2.
@@RAPTOR948 try restarting pc, it works for me
Its in pairing mode, but Bluetooth just wont recognise it.
I just try to shoot my shoot here since I can't find anything on google. So my controller connects to my PC without any problem, but when I don't use it for a while it turns itself off. The problem here is after that it won't connect to my PC until I remove the device from my Bluetooth devices. While the controller is turned off, windows still recognizes the controller itself.... Does anyone had the same problem? Or is this just windows being garbage and there's nothing I can do?
Nope, no blue light... I use the switch original USB cable.
Same. Did you find a fix?
@@Jmdeleeuw- Did you find a fix? i have the same problem
Even if the blue light is not on, it's does not mean it is NOT on.
Also not sure if the original switch cable is data also,
can 2 pro controllers be paired/used with pc?
That should be possible, I have not tested this though
my controller does connect but doesnot work on spiderman remastered wirelessly
didn't work, thanks!
Mine says connected but the controller keeps flashing and wont connect
Boutta play mc dungeons on pc with controller
Will this work with an 3rd party controller?
Not sure, only tested the actual switch pro controller
i have a custom pro controller will it work there?
I don't know what a custom pro controller is, but I think it may still wotk
Can a wired pro controller work?
since I don't have bluetooth, I use wired which helps
Wired is the way to go!
i don't get it... it doesnt work when I play games... only when I searched in the settings and stuff
mine doesnt work it is called lic pro controller I even tried wired method
Uh, doesn't work. I plugged my pro controller in via wire and it made the blue light but it's not moving at all.
My PC doesn't have Bluetooth and my Pro Controller doesn't even register that it is pugged into it. Even the charging light dose nothing.
What do you do if it asks for a pin, I really need a answer becuase im very desperate
Neither methods work for me it doesnt connect via bluetooth or usb to usbc
How in the hell is it easier to connect via bluetooth than wired (with cable that came with controller)? The only reason I want to do wired is to mitigate input lag, but doing a wired connection makes me wanna pull my hair out. I spend more time trying to get things to work than actually playing.
So… what do I do if my controller isn’t Bluetooth? It’s a fully wired one and I can’t get any output with it. My laptop is detecting it but it’s not doing anything
then you dont hae a legit pro controller because all pro controllers support bluetooth
Somehow wired doesnt work. and I do not have bluetooth.
ig ill just use a dualschock.
the wired technique doesnt work at all for me. update the video
Hi... so... THIS controler CAN be used as a PC MOUSE ( windows 10 ) ❓... Did I get it right, if YES, just tell me, because it would be VERY HAND for my daily use here...
you need joy2key for that
Yea using the USB cable doesn't do chit for me lol. Hilarious part is using USB on Linux Mint works out of the box. Windows needs to quit phucking around or they will find out.
one of the problems there is is that the light on the pro controller is on some models is that its called the blue light of death (blod) it makes pc game unplayable
when I plug in the controller it doesnt shine blue. pls help
