Love watching a travel kit, to be honest I can watch these videos all day long. I’m off to Vanuatu at the end of the month and have no idea what clothes I’m taking but I’ve re packed my art kit at least 4 times. Decisions decisions …….. 🤔
This video couldn’t have been better timed for me, I’ve been deliberating over what to put in my travel kit (sunny Scotland here I come !🤞). This has given me some great ideas. Have a fab holiday Helen.🏖️
I always love seeing what you take for your trips - not repetitive at all. I hope you have a wonderful time and I look forward to seeing your lovely art and anything from your trip.
Love this and ALL your videos….I’ve started breaking my Neocolor II sticks in half (or just pulling leftover shorties) to put in that small tin for travel… you can get 25-30 colors in the box that way. Thanks for your wonderful mix of topics. I’m headed to the Cotswold are in late March and I’m hoping the weather won’t be too rainy to do some outdoor sketching. Wish I could go to Cornwall as well. Your videos of the are so very lovely!
I enjoy watching you put your travel kit together. Using the photos to choose colors is too logical! I never thought of that. Have a wonderful holiday.
I really enjoyed watching you put your travel kit together it looks beautiful.. seeing some of the tropical beaches on your iPad reminds me of the tropical waters we’re I live hear in north tropical 🌴 Queensland Townsville Australia and magnetic island just off Townsville it’s paradise our beautiful beaches are and the water just perfect for painting I wish I can paint like u I’m only a newbie I’m still trying to save for watercolour paint.. I have other water colour paint and Holbein gouache18 pack and the Japanese watercolour paint in the green package box I use in my colouring books ❤❤❤😊😊😊xxx
It makes sense to do a packing video for a travel palette 🎨 for a new adventure because of the variety of colors choices for the trip can vary depending on the seasons even for a return trip to the same destination. Thanks for sharing this wonderful video & I hope you have a wonderful fun-filled holiday vacation! Can’t wait to see what you get to create from your adventure!! Enjoy 😉💕
Kefalonia is a great pick! Don't miss the Melissani lake cave! The weather seems to be ideal! I hope you have a great holiday and my beautiful country will not disappoint!
Hi Helen , you are so wonderfully organised , unlike me , whenever I go out for a spot of Plein Air I find I've forgotten something essential like paints or brushes !!!!! When I try to explain to anyone slightly interested they pat me gently on the head and mutter "there , there" !!!!! Can't wait to see the fruits of your adventure to the Greek Isles , more lovely memories for me . Take care , Mike in Exeter xx
Oh my goodness i loved kefalonia! I cant say what its like now as i havent been for years but it used to be very beautiful - hope you have a wonderful time , the palette looks great ❤
I can’t wait to see what you create in Greece with this kit! I’m going there in August, and am already thinking about what paints I’ll pack. Safe travels!
if you have magnets just remove the inner tray entirely an d fill the entire bottom of the palette directly is what I prefer to do and you can get 24 into that palette box !
Thanks for the suggestion! I'm not sure my magnets are strong enough though - the pans would shift around slightly, so I like the added stability of the metal bars.
Yassou! I love this! I just started getting back into water color painting and in need of some new supplies. I just recently discovered Temu delivers to Greece so I’ll be ordering some goodies soon. I live in Santorini 🇬🇷 but I’ve heard good things about Kefalonia. Enjoy your trip! Can’t wait to hear all about it. ❤
There is so much to pack when you do mixed media! I am mostly into watercolour so it is just that and a couple pens :) plus I always find that there is never as much time for painting on holiday as I imagine! Please do a follow up video on what you actually used 😁 Enjoy your holiday:)
On my usual holidays and when our four kids are with us, there's usually hardly any time, but hopefully on this lazy holiday, there'll be more! I'm already wishing I'd bought more turquoise pencils!!
I always enjoy seeing what others pack for a watercolor/art travel kit. Do you ever pack water brushes? I like having a couple of those when I travel so I don't have to worry about getting or disposing of water. They're easier for me to use, too, if I want to paint en route.
I own some, but don't use them very much with watercolours (probably prefer them with watercolour pencils/crayons), I think because I just like using a lot of water with watercolours, and like to have exactly the amount of water I want, and my control with a waterbrush isn't so great.
Great colors for your trip. I have little mini limited palettes made up for day trips to the beach or urban sketching but I think if I was going on a longer trip I'd do what you did, checking out images of the place I was going and curating a palette for the trip. Hope you have a great trip 😃 Oh, I just remembered when I saw your sketchbook with the yellowish pages. I saw a video today where a woman showed the white paper version of the Talens Art Creations sketchbook. I didn't know there was one, but apparently it's the books with the art deco cover. The plain colored, covered ones have the yellowish paper and the patterned books have the white. Even better for me, they're available here yay. That makes a nice change 😂
@@helencryer I just had a look on their website. They also have white paper with a cork cover, a still life of flowers and a milkmaid. You might find some on your travels
Thank you for this, I've been wondering what to take to Italy late April. It'll be the first time I take drawing/painting supplies with me; in the past it was just a camera. Kefalonia is lovely, tho I went in June, and I'm guessing the photos you showed are summertime pix. I look, forward to seeing how different it is at this time of year, through your sketches.Enjoy your visit Mx and fingers crossed for the weather! It's tipping it down here *sigh*
Thanks! Yes, it's been endless rain here too, but the weather forecast for Kefalonia is looking great! To be honest, there are so many good mixing colours in this palette that it will work fine I think.
The Warm Grey and the Jaune Brilliant No 1 are excellent for sand and the blues are useful. Having said that I have no idea how the other paints would fit in a coastal scene. 😂
Lots of pink and purple flowers around (at least I'm hoping, this time of year!) Turquoise waters, and as far as I can make out much of the island is green and forested.
@@helencryer Oh, flowers! That did not come to mind when I thought of the beach. Sand, water and sky tend to overwhelm my vision when I’m at the beach.
I’m in Australia and don’t have my sennelier in my outdoor palette they are too gloopy especially over summer although I love them. Let us know how they go in Greece.
I think the Sennelier I bought as half pans will be fine, but will see how the tube poured ones go! The only Sennelier I've had a problem with before in a travel palette was a Lemon Yellow. It won't be super hot yet where we're going, so 🤞
🙋 I also pack my kit before anything else 😂. I enjoy your art bag videos. How did this go for Greece? Did you use everything or missed something? I am often overoptimistic -and bring more than I will have a chance to use 🤭
The little rail things in those palettes bother me so much... Recently I just pried them off of the little metal tray and my magnetized pans now fit very nicely and no wiggling about :)
Buff titanium, cobalt teal, phthalo turquoise, viridian, burnt sienna, burnt skin (😭), ultramarine + burnt umber (black), perylene green (to mix deep turquoises), quin coral or PR242, cerulean PB35, a yellow earth of your choice and a yellow of your choice. Your selection is weird 🤣.
Warm Grey is a great substitute for Buff Titanium, Turquoise Green is PG50 so basically is Cobalt Teal, I can mix close to viridian with my turquoises and yellow, Lutea Orange is very close to Burnt Sienna, I'm taking sun screen, I can make superb dark mixes with the colours in this palette (especially with the Lutea Blue), I prefer Dusk Yellow to Perylene Green, though I can mix close to it anyway with turquoise. I use virtually no reds ever, and I can mix as close as I'd like to a yellow earth, with my yellow and brown. In short: I LOVE my weird selection 😂
Not at all repetitive! I love seeing how kits evolve & the process. Probably a niche geek thing, but it’s my kind of tribe. 😄 Thank you. 💗
It's a tribe I love! Thanks!
Same here ❤️
I could watch videos on getting travel kits ready for DAYS… love seeing the supplies people choose to take with them! Have a wonderful trip!!
