- Welcome to part 2. The original design of the dock starter was a success so I decided to see how easy it truly is. As seen in the video, when someone who is new at foiling attempts the dock starter, it truly shows you how hard this sport is. Shout out to Jakob Diepenbrock for trying the dock starter about a hundred times so I could film this video! Comment below if you would like me to make a video of my dad trying the dock starter! I just watched this but didn't have the sound on. My visual observation is that the guy is trying to learn 2 things at once - how to ride a foil and how to dock start. You really shouldn't do both at once. The tendency is to lean back when learning when you should be leaning forward. After one can foil, then it is time to learn to dockstart. Very impressive amount of determination though, and this guy will be ripping in no time! If possible learn on an efoil or behind a boat, then move on to pumping, then on to dockstarting. He did great , if you had told him to get his front foot further forward I think he would have nailed it.
You're absolutely right. He was consistently too far back.
Dude you should have given given him some instruction ...he never had his front foot in the right place - foot placement is critical and you just let him do the same thing over and over. what's up with that?
