i find the leash unnecessary in small waves. i've never had to swim far to grab my board. most leashes bounce around while your pumping which is annoying.

After the initial learning its all about time on foil, to progress. Foil drive i think may be a cheat code for those with 5k sitting around. Larry

I'm thinking about keeping the first section longer and just taping it to the public dock with extra strong duct tape. Might fill the pipe with foam or rubber hose for less flex and use a Bungie cord across the tail to keep it in place when there's wakes.

Why would you get a noob to attempt dockstart? The best guys say in instructional videos not even try it till you have pretty good pump skills. And you gave him no instruction. You basically set him up to fail and then told him "When you suck, do better." Good way to discourage a noob. You're a jerk!

I don't understand how you can glide every few pumps

How come you do 3 pumps, then rest, but somet imes you do 9 pumps and rest. What determines this rhythm?

Dude you should have given given him some instruction ...he never had his front foot in the right place - foot placement is critical and you just let him do the same thing over and over. what's up with that?

I just watched this but didn't have the sound on. My visual observation is that the guy is trying to learn 2 things at once - how to ride a foil and how to dock start. You really shouldn't do both at once. The tendency is to lean back when learning when you should be leaning forward. After one can foil, then it is time to learn to dockstart. Very impressive amount of determination though, and this guy will be ripping in no time! If possible learn on an efoil or behind a boat, then move on to pumping, then on to dockstarting. Will, I was wondering, do you use any shim on stab or between the mast and the board a rake ? And also, last year your record with the 1150 was 6 minutes, do you have an updated record with the 1150 ? I would like to know if the theory 1310 = 2X your time on the 1150 is verified with you.
