🥒 ABOUT BEFRS:
Hey, I’m Sonny! I’m from the US but I’ve been living in Asia for 10 years and started making food and travel videos to document my experiences. I travel to different parts of the world, hunting down and documenting the most unique food each country has to offer.
If you see any factual food errors in my videos, please feel free to politely let me know in the comments. I'm a huge fan of trying different, interesting foods in each country. My show is from a Western point of view, but more importantly, MY point of view. It is not meant to offend any person or culture.

Ok I luve yure vids ther so good !
I em a hyuge fan
Ok 👍👍👍
Please stop using this joke of a company as a sponsor.
Oro: Best Co-host ever! His antics, humor, and Sonny's response to them: priceless. Oro means Gold in Spanish. He definitely is worth his weight Gold!
Keep up the great work Sonny! I anxiously wait every video you release!!
@8:34 Oro to Sonny , ". . .I will translate your Bourdain to a more mundane . . ." That's a quotable quote !
I absolutely love the way you and Oro play off each other. You two are hysterical and I love watching you together. 😂😂
😊😊😊
Absolutely.. Oro and sunny is a perfect match
You should take this guy everywhere you go he’s funny af i like him 🤣🤣
Sonnys friend is the funniest. They both make the show. Not only sonny
I want to see Calvin on again too!
who’s sonny ?
Oro needs his own show😂😂😂😂😂 he’s funny watching from Saint Lucia 🇱🇨 ❤
Love from Jamaica 🇯🇲
I swear no one works harder on RUclips than this dude, between this and his second channel it’s like an insanely well produced video a week, I can’t imagine how long it takes
and his team*
It is rather insane. Dude pumps out stuff that’s better than travel and the food channel DAILY
The video from yesterday was a $40,000 per person cruise. What part of that represented hard work by Sonny? All he does is eat. Dude hasn't worked a day since Minnesota.
This video is just the last few videos put together. So no actual work. Doesn't seem like he works that hard to me.

I do follow you to different countries, I'm glad you was able to visit my island this time.
I would like to highlight that in Puerto Rico we don't call it "Tamales", instead we call it "PASTELES". Pastel means "Cake", meaning a cake made out of green plantains. Tamales are made in Mexico and Cuba with corn flour instead. They are both very similar, Tamales are wrapped with a corn leaf and Pasteles are wrapped with a banana leaf. Tamales are steamed upright , while Pasteles are cooked boiled in the water.
The other highlights are the "PASTELILLOS", which are also called "EMPANADILLAS" in different parts of the island. You were right when you said that it was like an "EMPANADA". The name empanadilla means a small empanada. We use both names around the island and the funny thing is people fight (in a funny way) which one is the correct name since we grew up with one of those names. My dad was from Spain and my mother from Puerto RIco, knowing both cultures, personally I think "Empanadillas" are the most accurate one because the root of the word is "Empanada" which in Spain means "stuffed pie". "Empanadas" in Puerto Rico are like the "Pasteles" that you ate but made out casaba and cooked in the oven.
The word "Pastelillo" comes from the word "Pastel" that in Spain and Mexico means "Cake", like a birthday cake. Also, in the island we have a conflict with the word "Pastellillo" because on a bakery they will referring for a desert that make kind looks like a croissant with guava. So in conclusion, we accept both names, but be aware that depending where you go, you may find both names for the same thing or may get some thing different. Ask if you have any doubt, we like to help, we don't mind at all to answer any questions.
For those that want to try the Empanadillas in the USA, in the supermarket frozen Goya brand section, they sell the dough discs where you can take it home and stuff it with whatever you like, from just plain American cheese to your preferred meat or seafood, just fold it in a moon shape, use a fork to seal the edges and deep fry, a quick snack meal. Don't buy the Goya already made frozen ones, those are not that great, make better your own. I do like to add pepperoni, pizza sauce and mozzarella cheese, those is awesome for the American taste and super easy to make.
Note Tips: As any country, as you get out of the tourist area, the better the people and the food quality. If you enjoyed the east side, imagine the west side, that is even better waters. North the island is windy, the Atlantic Ocean is great for surfing, high altitude rocky shores, nice sceneries like in the Pirates Of the Caribbean. The South of the island is the Caribbean sea, it has calm waters, calm winds, slow water tide, so it is hotter and have extended beaches, better for boat cruise, sun tan, jet ski and fishing. East and West kind is a mixture of both depending how close you are to one of the waters, the best sea food. The center is high mountains, cooler, a lot of vegetation, fruits, zip line, horse rides, four tracks, the best pork meat food. We are all friendly, mostly speaks English and Spanish, we treat you as we know you for long time and like to talk a lot (LOL). As away from the capital you be, the friendlier the people are and the best quality living you get. The old San Juan is pretty, very guard by the police, but if you around in the whole capital, like any other country, you may end in a not that good area. As the center/west you get, away from San Juan, less worry you will be and better it is all in general.
One small thing to add, Pasteles are not cooked the same as Tamales. Tamales are steamed upright , while Pasteles are cooked boiled in the water.
I did not know Tamales are cook under steam. Thanks, I did learn something new today.@@francheskarosado-sandoval3252
You enjoy torturing poor Oro a bit too much. lol
The flashing clock on the stove of the cayman segment is indicative of a lot of power outages.
28:05 The background music is a guy telling some lady named Maria not to hit some other girl named Juana with a tree branch😂
BAHAHAHAHA
Not a good thing but in thia context I can not help but laugh.
Thank you for visiting our beautiful island and showing are food and dishes to share with the people from around the world 🇵🇷10-10-10
Thank you Sonny & Oro, my favourite collab!!
Thank you for visiting the island and showing the amazing people that live in there, but we don’t make tamales, which are made with corn masa,we make pasteles which are made with different varieties of vegetables and root vegetables, please called it for what it is pasteles, and thank for the PR , that’s love

Oro is hilarious i love when he cohost with Sonny. And Sonny tortures him once again 😂😂💜
I would 100% go to Puerto Rico just to eat Caiman and Iguana. The view, people and whole vibe would just be an amazing bonus.

Oro is so awesome. Gives a great vibe when he's around.
The 'puertorrican Tamales" as you call em we call them in the island as pasteles de masa, there are also some who are made from rice

All food is amazing.
I have been binge watching your videos, and this one is the most FUN, and I was laughing soooooo much. Your friendship is to die for. ❤
I'm a new subscriber here. Watched a few of the long videos and love this channel! Sonny is such a a goof but underneath all that he is such a kind and thoughtful person! Much respect to you and keep up the great content!
This really is one of the best food review shows to ever exist. I like Josh and Ollie from Jolly though too. Love their stinky cheese content for some reason those episodes stick with me.
Love this video- thanks Sunny and team!
I love Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 I'm Dominican 🇩🇴 you have to go to Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 you would love it ❤

Always love when sonny & Oro do a series together.
I know i’m not the only one who would like to see Oro in every episode. His chemistry wit Sonny is endearing but then he seems to have that with everyone. ❤
I love oroh so much! he's such a sweetheart! He's my favorite guess in BEFRS! More Oroh pls ❤❤
I want Oro, Calvin, and Andrew all in one damn episode!! Make it happen Sonny….
Puerto Rican food is so bomb. I grew up with it in nyc and have been hooked forever. I finally visited on vacation in November and had the best mofongo I’ve ever had in San Juan at this spot called Muelle 13. It’s on the same block as Raices where all the tourists go. Sooo good! Omg I almost forgot, the Pina coladas were 🔥🔥🔥
We love Oro! I would sub to a channel with him exclusively although the combo of Oro and Sonny are pretty excellent already!
This show is truly a beautiful thing it's helped me appreciate different cultures by my favorite thing in life potentially at least food I think it's just such a beautiful way to see people but so much creativity so much passion so much love into something that gets eaten and shit out this show is rad as fuck seeing all these different cultures at their most potentially core element is beautiful
It's true, Puerto Rico has the best pork chops ❤❤❤
I love oro in the videos with you.
You guys are awesome together in the videos 😅
There's never a dull moment with Oral on you show😂😂😂😂 i cry till i fall from my bed when you both link up omg.
This was such a fun video! Chef Deborah has such a beautiful smile! 😍 & the dishes she made looked delicious!
35:32 I don’t know if I’m the only one who heard it (hopefully not the only one from my country here) but “should we try it out” sounds exactly! the same in Serbian! “Da probamo?” I…I’m stunned
You are the bravest man I know. Anyone who can rock an out-of-style 1980s hairband headband like that is afraid of nothing.
The pig farm part reminds my so much of Morón Cuba. The neighbor's had a operation where they smoked pigs in a shed. The whole nine yards. Outdoor kitchen, just overall amazing. They were Russian (I think). Amazing host's. They invited me down and over to their casa and gave me a huge plate of pork shavings, crispy frites, and the best gravy I've ever had. Also, amazing company and a lot of laughs with the retired police chief and the whole family. :) It was one of the best times I've had. I wish I could post some of the pics and vids here, but that said. This brought back so many memories. Great video.
Ora is so naturally funny and what a great guest, speaking of guests, you always have great guests.
🙌🏼🇵🇷 mannn them pinchos really got me hungry bouta make some today. lol
Sonny is such a good friend to Oro he lets him do all the fun stuff, and I bet that even if it looks like a chore for Oro he enjoys it and appreciates the little push to do those things. I sure would feel lucky to do those things.
Many people like to watch your show, I open it every day for them to watch.😊
I had fun watching, Thank you
so crazy to see sonny at the spots i frequented in Loiza. 15:24 i've gotten my medallas at the bar behind him.
finally homie visited PR
10:26 i ate there as a kid omg.! They have the best Alcapurrias hands down
_my foster mom always took me there when we would visit & go to the beach.! She even taught me how to make tamales Puerto Rican style we call them pateles (pa telle) .!Woww Sonny ur the best thank you for exploring Puerto Rico.! I was missing Puerto Rico and coincidentally u upload this 🔥
Editing of your videos is amazing
There’s literally no better food review person than Sonny ! I wanna try everything in this video 🎉
Thanks, great video about P.R. And as always like to see Oro included, especially "always be prepared" in his Hefty garbage bag rain suit.
Every time I see one of your videos post I instantly LIKE IT 😊
YOUR VIDS ARE JUST THIS GOOD
Your video uploads are consistently fantastic! The effort you invest shines through. Keep up the awesome work.
OK. This is one of you best episodes. I love the chemistry of your college friend and you. I want to move here now. Do something like this again please.

Yo need more videos with this dude he is funny af 😂😂😂😂

I live in NY in an area with a lot of Puerto Rican workers coming in seasonally. Super chill folks, the food looks phenomenal
I an second generation born an American Puertorican , Bronx NYC. My grand parents, from my mother and father are from Puerto Rico. Hence as I watch this pod cast and the showing of my heritage. My eyes teared up. I feel so proud, yet so sad, as if something was stolen from my soul because I was born and raised in the United States. I am ashamed that I don't flow as Boriqueno people do when it comes to speaking our dialect of Spanish, my spirit feels as if there is a whole in it, ( Though Christ has filled it up) but do I tear up sometimes and don't know why when I hear the language and music. I grew up eating all these dishes that have been show on this show, before my mother and father divorced and the family,s got swallowed up by the American dream. I hope to go live their one day and maybe I can get what I feel was stolen from me. But being a sold out father to my children, all my time and money has gone to being a father. And now, fatherhood has taken me to live in the Philippines for the past 8 years. One day I hope to go to my blood land. Thanks for this pod cast! 🙂
Thank you Sonny, for saying “addictive” and not “addicting”
Beautiful land, sad sad sad story. Dang. ☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️. Awesome content and on another note, I can’t stop laughing at your commentary. I could call out so many phrases that crack me up. But you still have respect for where you are and what you are talking about so major props.
Why am I so stupid that I keep watching this channel when I'm hungry and my fridge is empty?
Go outside and eat something.
Oro, thank you for making me laugh. You are such a great addition to this show. I always click on the video if you are in it.

What If Best Ever were to releas longer cuts of these adventure (like more of hunting crocodile, cooking process, etc) ? An hour show that combines travel, cuisine, culture , and a charismatic host. Would you watch ? I'd even pay to download it exclusively.
My beautiful ❤ Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 I miss my Island and people! And of course the food 🫠🫶
Grown mature adults but I see babyfaces making me laugh. Each of you have your own uniqueness. 🥰
Oro made this extra special!
