    Considering how long they have worked on the Starmap, it's really disappointing to hear that they've still missed the mark.

      I appreciate his honest impression but it kinda hit hard. The new starmap is my #1 most anticipated feature and I hope it's better when 3.23 launches. For too many years we've lived with a barley usable map.

      It's very odd how overcomplicated they are making it when in reality it could be very clean and simple. ED may not have had the best starmap or system map but it worked well.

      I feel like they are constantly trying yo reinvent the wheel just for the sake of being different from all the other games that are using tried and true systems, to only circle back around and use something similar to what everyone else is using. The whole inner thought system being dumped for a system similar to like 90% of fps games these days is proof of that.

      @@OleandersGamingEmporium they wanted the game to be complex but modern gaming audiences require simple and easy to understand concepts as complexity takes learning and time and effort. They figured this out as most normies will not have the time to play this game. So they are backtracking everything. Everything. Master modes is the easiest thing for me to call out as a pilot. Live feels so good to fly in and Master modes its like you are a brick in space. Gotta simplify every aspect for the commoners

      @@XMathiasxX it's not just content creators testing the game. There are a lot of dedicated players giving their free time to test, find bugs, and fill out reports, so we can have a better experience.

    Kind of torn between excited and... not. Lot of the things I'm looking forward to in 3.23 sound REALLY rough. Starmap was my big thing, and hearing you say it felt like the Starmap we have was brutal.

      Well it is evo, so perhaps they're still iterating on it. But I don't really care if it's not ideal, anything is better than the map we've been having for all these many years.

      A lot of us think Master Modes is CIG just taking something we have and making it far worse. Just a huge downgrade that feels bad to play. Not just slow, but the constant auto-braking from boost despite being in decoupled, oh god oh fuck I'm feeling suicidal again.

      they should make the flight combat a little bit more simple, So i'm in favor of MM, the more they iterate on it the better it'll become
      I mean all Master modes is; is switching between Combat Mode where you got shields and guns, but are limited to thrusters - not really fast, vs Nav Mode, where you can Quantum Boost (like a quick, short "qt away") but got no shields and weapons. I honestly don't see the problem.
      And also, low speeds really emphasize teamwork and coordination. Higher speeds would separate teams from each other and we would just have a bunch of isolated 1v1s; so I don't think they show take the speeds up to 500scm, like many people suggest.

    They don't need a "video game" reason to use the laser sight. If you have a combat helmet with the dynamic crosshair, you ignore the laser. If you are some other role, and thus have a non-combat helmet, you use the laser. Simple.

      Pretty much the only time in real life people use lasers is for subcompact and micro carry pistols where the iron sights are sub par and youll probably be fighting within 7 yards. Non-IR lasers are literally just video game nonsense and or for painted face squeaky nose people that think they're cool.

    As a sim enthusiast, I love the fact that they're removing weapon spread when aiming down sights and having weapon spread when hip firing. It gives us a reason to aim down sights.

      i also like the laser decreasing spread when hip firing, if i have my real life rifle laser sighted to 50 feet i can hip fire and paint a target within 50ft in decent groupings. if i dont have a laser the groupings are shit... seems fair and real to life not RPG-y at all

    Can’t wait for 3.23. Range finding in sniper scopes are already a thing. The company I work for makes them for the military.

    15:05 I agree 100% the laser (or any item) needs some kind of value in order for players to ever use it. However, the lasers already had value in making aiming without ADS easier; the only reason CIG feel the need to add value via this spread decrease idea is because their stupid dynamic crosshair has removed all of that value from lasers but the lasers are still in the game so they're trying to come up with a solution to a problem they have needlessly created for themselves. The way to give laser pointers value without annoying the sim players is to get rid of the dynamic crosshair; it's literally that simple.

    I always appreciate that you give well-meant and informed criticism/praise. The context of what and how we view test features does matter which a lot of people do not engage with at all, jumping straight to absurd conclusions.
    It's really weird to me that quantum icons appear in nav mode. Isn't quantum still its own "mode" separate from that? I assume we swap master modes, then we still press B to spool up. I still have hope for a decent patch, considering this is one of the first "proper" 3.23 evos, and if they're shooting for late Q2

      @@NL0Gwenster I never gave it a time frame, I just said (perhaps they're still iterating on it).
      Nothing is definitive yet, but for all we know they could already have completed the Starmap rework for PU; In all we're looking at is a scaled back version of it, because there trying to maintain stability for this evo patch test cycle.

      @@NL0GwensterI mean there’s a lot of reasons it might not feel great. This EVO build sounds very unstable and most of the features are a fraction of what was already shown in demos. So either the demos were completely fabricated, or this build is using limited versions of those features because those specific features are not the testing focus of this EVO build.

      His prior complaints may have been because of patch stability, I did think his critique was a little harsh; considering it's a evo patch.

    For the laser. It has value right now. You can quickly know where you a re firing. And a scope already has a downside. With the zoom in, you have a major blind spot. Like your vision isn't as wide, and if someone closer comes to you, then you likely won't see them at all.

    Hi! Leaving the hangar / pad was awkward for me too. Turns out you have to raise your landing gear as soon as you lift off, otherwise you're REALLY restricted. It's like a landing assist limiter ON TOP of SCM. So, yeah you don't have to go into Nav just to take off, but do make sure you raise your landing gear.

    I think having lasers give stat boosts is fine, and heavy optics slowing down weapon handling actually makes sense, but the light optics should have a very minimal impact. Even today, basically every gun is going to have an optic mounted if possible, so at that point in the future, it would make sense for the baseline to pretty much be aiming with an optic.
    Also, a thought on the rangefinding/sniper glint situation: one possible way that could implement this is by making rangefinding a manual process, doing what real rangefinders do and pulsing a laser to determine the distance to an object. Then, anyone nearby to where that rangefinding ping went off would be notified of the ping and the direction it came from (maybe specifically a combat helmet feature). This way, snipers would be able to serve other roles like scouting without giving their position away, there is still a pre-shot warning of danger, and there is more potential expression of skill for snipers in terms of preparation or experience with their rifle.

      How does it make sense? A red dot sight weighs like 60 gramg/2 Oz. Why would it reduce my ads by 15%? It weighs virtually nothing.

      @@zarbonthedestroyer7232 I agree. I said heavy optics, by which I meant magnified scopes, make sense to slow down ADS. I also said that light optics, like a red dot, shouldn't have much impact if any.

    Once we see how the NPCs actually respond during bunkers for the rifles to see if the changes help or hurt. I use the p4 regularly, but keep it in single fire mode, and play from range and cover to pick off targets before moving in. So once we get access Im excited to see how the p4 will be.

    I think Auto range finder could possible remain on the TV scopes. Would allow TV scopes to have a feature with the draw back of energy/electric damage or interferance.

    I really hope that when the game is released, 'nav mode' (i.e. 'fast travel mode') isn't required to get nav markers. I really want to be able to see and orient myself in relation to nav markers in whatever mode I happen to be in.

    Your experience with nav mode is interesting. A solution could be to have quantum mode be a sub section of nav mode. So when you turn on nav mode it doesn't start spooling the quantum drive right away or bring up the markers. However, having an extra button press to turn on quantum might hinder quick get aways.

    Water effects and physics worked for me after the second server recover, befor my carracks trusters didnt effect it at all. The light scattering into the water looked amazing by night but at some point the fps tanked super hard and i needed to abort the low flight.

    Nav mode icon spam when not QTing is easy to fix. Only show quantum markers when you spool the drive. Done

    Really my main complaint with the laser sight buff is that I dislike attachments providing magic effects, especially when they already serve a useful purpose. Laser sights show you where you're aiming at all times, which is incredibly useful. Scopes don't also make your gun shoot further somehow (not trying to give CIG ideas here). If we had foregrips or something, that would make a lot more sense for providing buffs like that.
    Also, what about the combat helmet? Does that provide a spread reduction? I don't really want to see people using combat helmets AND laser sights, just to perform at their peak.
    If you're doing an arcade shooter with a permanent reticle on the screen for everyone, then I agree lasers have to do something extra to justify them.
    edit: As for lower ADS speeds with an optic, it makes sense for any kind of scope. Red dots and holographic sights should be as fast or faster though, that's the whole point of them. Lining up iron sights is hard comparatively, and dot sights certainly don't add enough weight to justify 15%.

    Tbh, id like em to make hipfire spread like in EFT where spread is not made artificially by nudging bullets, but make gun move in ur hands so u need to control it more. Tactical lasers would work just like in EFT then

    The laser pointer was already very useful to me, because it made me be able to hipfire quite reliably, but the coming crosshair will eliminate most of its usefulness. Not sure I really mind the gunplay to be somewhat arcadey tbh; I love simulation games, but having an MMO that could possibly attract more people would make sense and with everything going on within Star Citizen, some aspects should remain accessible and fun

      I think you're fine since they are putting in upsacling, depending on your current build. I'm on an amd 3600 and 3080ti and it's acceptable. Right now even the highest end pcs are still getting rekt in some cases. Biggest bottleneck is still the cpu and even a 7800x3d isn't enough. Maybe towards the end of 2024 amd will realse something better.

    9:30 if citcon is to be believed, it looked very clean with all the new ui, so nav mode was probably built for that new ui. just have to hope we actually get it, i dont want to see the entire system when i want to go a little faster lol

    the other ship requiring nav to take off is probably starfarrer gemini. that hefty girl had trouble taking off A18 even on normal flight if not making use of rear thrust she would even have gravity weight descensions. so of combat mastery mode slows the ships down, its probably safe to assume to reach aero space to open space she would need nav flight mode.
    sad to hear about the ui, and other engineering test failures not allowing better fps tests.
    the critter hunter quests sounds cool i was wondering if they would do something like that. i know people who play valheim ect like to mark trohpy counts ect. so this is a cool quest feature to come into starcitizen.
    as for the update with the attachment aim down sight changes. the scopes are already slow enough under fps lag. the servers need stable fps positions before adapting timatic delays to aiming. espeically if it were already slow for some sniper rifles, then to attach a scope to any weapon reduces it by 25% like wut? that isnt good. one of the most anoying things about call of duty is the sniper and other heavy lmg weapons aim down sight times getting even worse going from 425 to 950ms or even 1142 with some sniper rifles. that isnt Role playing, that is fps hacks and delays because they dont know how to balance weapons meanwhile big weapons like rail guns and 338 lapua firearms or .50bmg do massive damages.
    but hear this from a realistic point of view. not gaming, but a reality! if you have an m4a1 military spec 14.5" barrel all military trim trigger components, stock, tube, hand grips with chromium/aluminum gas cover and heat shields, ect with your basic bird cage muzzles and your carry handle aim sight. the fire arm weighs about 14.5lb and with a full 40 round mag weighs around 5.4lb in .223 nato 5.56. so total weight is 19.9lb. and aim down sight from low and ready to dirrect fire, is about .455ms.
    now lets review a 12.5" .887mm R45A8 chromium barrel for .459x48mm aka .50cal baowulf. with a 2.5" gas capture barrel extensions with a 4.5" tanker break. total barrel length 15.9" inches, with with a 9045high carbon light mass 5.2oz bolt carrier group from a stock m4's 8.7oz. that is so much less recoil, then using a tungston mass T2 silent capture buffer and guide arm. a 3.5x swam fox prisim combat acog only weighs 9.7oz. not only is it a .50cal baowulf, but total rifle weight is 8.22lb, less recoil than an m4, and a 10 round mag is 14.4 total lb. 25% less weight with a 3.5x scope with a full .50cal magazine. being its total load weight is 25% less guess what the aim down sight time is. because of the bipod combat grip its more than 25% and more like 42% faster then a mil spec m4. being around .259ms aim down sight time.
    this isnt call of duty, this is real life fire arms. and why stupid stuff pisses me off. because i know and used a m4, an aug a1, and a m249 and m240b as my field service weapons more than anything else. and i own a custom .50bao with 4k dollar lmos carrier, T2 silent capture buffer, a bi-pod combat grip and 3.5x acog swam fox trihawk. where i know not just in fundamental specs, but actual practice and use of these firearms from years of experience. that .50 rig is better and faster then the mil spec m4 in every way! where 1 round is as lethal as 10 rounds of that m4, and using black tip armor piercing arounds with 485grain Primer+ rounds shooting at 2449fps... compared to the tinny .223fmj round at 1445fps. thats 178gram projectile weight x 1445fps velocity for muzzel energy. vs 550gram tunston core rounds at 2449fps. not only is it faster to draw, set up on bipod from a spring loaded kick, and has 3.5x field acquisitions with low reflex profiles... it can swiss cheese a car, or take down a bear behind the bear!
    so NOOOO! adding an acog or a reflective scope does not change the firearm weight all that much. you have to consider the weight value different of the firearm. to the percentage weight value added by the scope. for draw delay. meanwhile if to total firearm weight is less then an Armorlight Rifle system, or less then a Subautomatic Machine GUN... then your sniper rifle very well could have a faster aim down sight then either of those 2 other profiles rigged for more weight to manage full auto or continuous fire conditions. mean that .50bao is a full auto firearm and because the way it is modded with the light mass carrier group IT HAS LESS RECOIL THAN AN M4!
    so, sorry to vent and rage... but i hate when people do stupid things. even more i hate when video games try to simulate stupid things and say it is real or life like! because 1 thing is for sure, it doesn't match my gunsmithing knowledge and reality!

      and a disclaimer for some who might say, a full auto .50cal. you cant own that,. or, surely it would have more recoil... no it doesnt mean that. and yes people can own it, if you get the appropriate license for it, or if you were in the military then got out and that transfer of ownership carried over after you got out. hence why i have a socom full auto .50bao. and i could have made it even better, but i wanted to keep it in original socom spec. as i could have gone with an even lighter barrel, or had a better stock for continued fire stability instead of the full steal meat tenderizer stock. just incase any laws change in the future or whatever else, shes full 02bao socom spec and will always be grandfathered in to my right of ownership! as tho she wasnt civilian registered till 2013 and i sperated in 07, she might have been in-operable while i was doing my exit and va disaiblity claims ect. as va isnt exactly fast at doing those things. and the reasons it took so long, was because the DTAC out of state transfer registrations to the state of califonria. as the local gun store didnt want to be responsible to accept the transfer liability, which didnt get approved, till they transitioned from 2nd amendment sporting goods to turners outdoorsmen which required them to approve and release all held items!
      where another little cool fact: according to federal+military law, it doesnt even need full ownership registrations as a .50cal. because .50cals are not for intended use against human targets. but for environmental survival and anti-equipment rounds. where if you aim at someone's backpack, or firearm, or cell phone, ect and happen to hit them by accident, then that is just collateral damage. and collateral damages cant be claimed as confirmed kills nor intent to kill. but according to atf serialized registration purposes, the receiver it self as the firearm... still needs basic legal civilian registrations after an exit.
      just incase there is any nay sayers out there! yeah, like i said! so even in the sunshine state of california with all the anti-gun laws, legal full auto .50cal!
      which reminds me, i still have 50 32 round 10mm glock mags in MN storage i need to ship or collect from freedom week purchases.

    I think the spread being high when not ADSed, vs being adsed and no spread
    vs using dynamic crosshair and a laser might end up being ok gameplay
    but it is a bit wierd re the laser

    Really hope CIG don't constrain the map to that circle. What is with that? Why limit it and leave so much dead space around it? That type of design feels claustrophobic to me

    I attempted to test out the FPS changes. I was able to get a ship, fly off, but then spent the next hour waiting for the server to recover from the many, many crashes. Had to re-accept the missions every single time. Finally was able to fly to a location with my mission, but right before I landed at the bunker, the server crashed again and my missions were lost.
    Had a decent amount of graphical issues too around Orison. Clearing shaders did not fix it.
    The mobi was nice. I did not like the new map. It was hard to use. I also found that some locations did not show up on the map. The mobi also is leaning. I couldn't see the right side of the mobi screen.

    It's so hard to keep optimism with this project. CR gets his hype train going, says all this stuff will be in by the end of the following year 2024 (he said 12 months to be precise, but I'll allow him the addition month or so) and we hear that, even with these features being proofed out in SQ42 before coming to the PU, they still seem far from being tier 2 or 3 for 2024... They aren't in a state even resembling what was pandered to us during CitCon.
    It's very disingenuous of CR to continue selling backers a bill of goods. Just from Mike's experience, it doesn't seem like what he experienced are things that can be tweaked to make them good in a month. Some sound fundamentally bad and in need of major overhaul still...

    They should add a way to shoulder your weapon and aim with the laser / smart crosshair instead of the sights / scope. Like in cod. It's one of the best things ever and gives a real use to the laser without making it gamey.

    I strongly disagree that the rangefinder needs removed from the scope, especially since these are "futuristic" weapons. If they're removing auto-zero then it means a player still has to exhibit some skill by interacting with it and dialing in the range. I agree that they are definitely hitting sniper rifles a little harder than may be appropriate when combined with the glint.
    For the laser, I don't think it needs to be gamified, honestly. The point of a laser is for visible human correction without sights, and it still performs that without adding game bonuses. I don't really care that much either way, though.

    Also reflex sights slowing down aiming is silly, people put reflex sights on weapons to speed up their target acquisition not slow it down.

    I agree, the star map seems to be all looks for CitCon and barely any improvement to functionality. Literally just made to look like an improvement, not to actually be one.
    How is it planetside? Can you precisely navigate to a point 50 km away with ease?

    Honestly, idk why we need dynamic cross hairs when we already have lasers. I think the dynamic cross hair should only be applied to a weapon laser (whether visible or invisible infrared). Exempli gratia: to use a dynamic cross hair on a combat helmet, one would need a weapon laser of some kind.

Looks like there is a loooooong way to go with the 3.23 patch, and to be honest I rather wait longer for this to hit the PU, than suffer like with the 3.18 patch. Not impressed by CIG´s hand held weapons setup, but lets see what happens when we get to try it out at some point, so I and many others can give CIG feedback, but by the things U are telling and the posts from CIG, I am not impressed....lets grab some HOPIUM!!! And have a Good Easter

    It shouldn't turn on your quantum when you go to Nav-Mode. I hope they fix that... having your quantum engaged gives you a much larger signal on radar.

    I'm every bit as excited about the animal quests as the next person, but it's a bit funny when everyone is freaking out about a "kill 10 boars" quest. Reminds me of the Star Engine video, when everyone else was being wowed by the seamless travel, scale, and other things this game has had for years, while this community was freaking out over some cows.

    on the guns it is just according to how they will balance it...sight add weight and more dimensions in real life. Same with the spread thing...I believe they are doing this do to the crosshairs to sim movement and instability of not having the gun on your shoulder. Its going to be all according to how they balance it.

    I like lasers in Tarkov, they give you more accuracy on hip fire but are visible for others so it gives you a buff on your weapons with a counter part, this is the best thing. thinking they're gonna add a crosshair in SC, a laser without any buff other than you see a line where you aim that just go to your crosshair isn't usefull and people won't use it, crosshair does the same thing in that case, so lasers should give you a buff in accuracy, giving you a good point to use lasers AND you don't have aim through scope as often to be accurate

    I cant believe nobody has an issue with the mobiglass font ,it has this holo double glass effect that just makes it just fuzzy and dirty looking.this is just straining my eyes and im not even actively reading it. I could even say that its giving me a mild headache .... hope they change this stupid font.

    My idea for Nav Mode/Quantum is that only local markers show up in Nav Mode until you enter Quantum. Entering Quantum Mode would enable all destinations in range of your Quantum Drive so you can jump to a friend, or a random location. However if you go in, and actually set a destination for Quantum that should remove all markers excluding the destination, or route. Will that happen? No. Will someone call me stupid? Probably. Does peanut butter cup ice cream fk'n slap? Yes. Yes it does.

    The most informative and depressing part of this video was your impressions of the new StarMap. I know its not finalized but it simply doesn't sound like an improvement over the old one. Combine this with Master Modes and the guaranteed instability it looks like 3.23 is turning into the patch that spoils this game instead of saves it.

    I really don't mind the weapon spread being worse while hip firing. It honestly makes the game more realistic.
    The LASER changes however, I don't like at all. LASERs have intrinsic value by literally showing where your gun points. I use them consistently in SC now even though they are borked in live. Thankfully its really a non-issue because the spread change seems really small anyway.
    Stacked with the other changes they've made all around in the game shows an overall trend toward more gamey systems. I wish they would do this for public transit in cities instead of the actual combat mechanics.

    There needs to be a fine line between Sim and Arcade gameplay. You MUST honor combat classes. Snipers CANNOT be close range guns like they were in the recent ISC on. Players should be forced to take the time to get in a good position and ADS to take care of targets. Dynamic Crosshair on snipers looks to be killing that role and it needs to be addressed.
