If you have an older phone using micro USB, you can buy a USB-A to micro USB converter or transfer wirelessly instead. It will take longer, but it's free!

(I had that "problem", that my boyfriend switch on the phone as the first on, set the wi-fi and skip the data transfer, I came to the phone later and there was no option to make that transfer later... you saved me :D

Excellent, thanks very clear and succinct. One question - why is the factory reset needed to provide the initial set up screen? Surely that should come up first?
It does come up first, but some people skip or accidentally miss the data transfer step, so I just showed how to get back to setup screen just in case :)

Thanks for your video! Any advice on how to get my images to also transfer when embedded within MMS messages? The text is transferring but not the images along with them. I have the new 6a.
Was really enthusiastic watching your video -would have been even better if you could answer some of these very good questions! I do have 2 quick ones I hope you or perhaps another viewer might know; 1 what happens if I want to go back later and move another file or app from my old Samsung 7? 2. T-mobile did initial setup and did not transfer any of my existing apps (Samsung 7) they recommended a program -"SmartSwitch". I have installed on both old and new phones and cannot get anything!!!! Thank you for any direction!.

Thanks for the great video! I have been trying to set up my new Pixel 6 from my iPhone 7 for 4 days now, but it always tells me it cannot copy data and skips the screen where I could check what to transfer. Have you had this issue before?
Why do you turn it on, go through the initial setup just to turn it off, and Re-Initialize again? I do not understand why you don't just start with that. Everything else is just clear as a bell! Thank you for doing this video.
Hi thanks for the tutorial. Will it be able to transfer my biometric information aswell? Say like a banking application. Where everytime I open it it will as me for my biometrics.
So, I have already tried four times to copy my pixel 3 into pixel 6.
When I saw your tutorial I was so excited to see that yours did.
None of my settings copied over. I tried both methods: copy and restore from backup.
But apparently Google doesn't care about their existing customers as much as people switching over from other cell phone manufacturers.
I am a wee bit frustrated 😠🥴

What about apps that are kinda of tied to the phone like home banking ones? Do you suggest to not copy them and install from scratch?
Loved this video. I have been dreading the transfer but now i know i can do it. My old phone allowed me to save my pictures to an internal tiny disk. The google phone has no slot. If i wanted to view or save new photos to the disk how would i do it?

Thanks for the video. I have a question, I tried in the past transferring my notes which are in Samsung notes and my calendar to my olde Google Pixel 4A and after I transferred those two they did not show up in the Google Pixel 4A in the notes or the calendar apps? What is if you now a way around this as I am really not wanting to get another Samsung Galaxy phone as I am really wanting to shift to a Google Phone when I upgrade. I feel like Samsung has locked me in to their eco system which I feel is not fair if I want to change. Let me know if you have any suggestion or tips? Thanks.

Were you coming from an S10 here? I have an S10e and I'm a bit concerned about how much larger the Pixel 6 is in comparison. Have you had any issues with the size difference?

In the past it required using Samsung special USB dongle even on my LG phones.

Hi thank you for your video. I am doing everything the same method in the video from an iphone 8 to google pixel 6 pro. I connect the adapters together but smart switch doesn’t connect the two phones together? Google pixel 6 pro says connect to your old phone where you want to move the data from? But doesn’t go to the next step where it transfer the data. Any help or advice please?

If your pixel is done getting setup, but some apps didn't transfer (notes, whatsApp conversations, etc), how do you get that setup app to run again? I just want to transfer a couple of apps again, but can't seem to get into this setup app...thanks!

hey, good vid but you gotta show how to Transfer Fotos in a useful way. I don't want all my albums like Screenshots, downloads, Instagram, holiday albums, etc. clumped together in the camera album on Google photos. Samsung is a bit weird with their software there so that's what happens when switching to pixels, that is the most complicated part of switching
Is there a way to swap device data the same or similar way of transferring? So I just bought my mom and I new Google pixel 6 (for her) and a 6 pro (for me) and the people at TMobile setup the devices backwards, she has her number and data on my 6 pro and I have my number and data on what was supposed to be her phone. I need to fix this. I do still have our old phones luckily so if there's no direct swapping method I'll most likely have to follow your tutorial and swap sim cards right? Please help

Great video, and everything was going fine until my old phone battery died. Now what? New pixel 6 didn't get to finish copying my data. I unplugged the two and and started charging the old one. Will it start up where it left off?

All of the icons are gone from the old phone. When I switched from a Motorola phone to a Google pixel for a, all of those apps are still on the Motorola screen.
Can you copy the apps onto the new phone instead of removing them.
I'm thinking in case of an issue with a new phone breakage or such you could put the SIM card back in the old phone.
