  • The radiator cooling fan in my Ford Edge 2008 is not working and the car gets overheated. In this video, I check the possible reasons of a bad cooling fan. I check the fan fuses, the fan motor, the fan rely, the rely connectors and the possibility of wiring problems. If those components are ok, then we might have a bad temperature sensor. I used in this check up a PWM device to generate an electronic signal instead of the signal generated by the temperature sensor. I got this PWM for $10 from AMAZON. You can find it on AMAZON and Ebay. The diagnosis shows that the problem is a bad rely connector which needs to be replaced.

Do you know how to test it if I have the tow package so there are two connectors to the fan relay?

I checked the fuses, the fan rely and the fan motor and I could not find the problem, what else should I check?

Two more things are left to check. First, check the wire transferring the signal from the ecu to the fan rely for any possible damage or miss connection. Second, check the coolant temperature sensor. It might needs to be replaced.

If one of the fans is not working, thats influences on AC working anormally? sometimes warm?

It could affect the AC so you might not get highly cold air. But, you still get some cold air. There could be other reasons for getting warm air from the AC. You might need to charge the AC, check the condenser or the compressor.

Did you end up fixing it? Currently dealing with my truck wanting to over heat when I'm in idling, then goes back to normal when driving. I've noticed that one of my fans is only working as well and ac stops blowing cold when in idle as well.

Yes, I replaced the fan connector and it is working fine so far. In your case, I believe your cooling fan is not working that is why you feel the problem in idle while the air stream helps while driving.

It could be a bad connector. Try to put some dielectric grease in the connector to enhance its connectivity. You may also use the pwm to test the relay and the connectors. Peel the white wire and connect it to the pwm. If the fan works, then there is no signal coming from the ECU to the fan rely. This could be due to bad wiring. If you connect the pwm signal to the peeled white wire and the fan didn't work, then it could be bad rely connectors.
