You can run your heater to cool your radiator, also the defrost will run with the ac on, and with the ac on the defrost is on, the sensor is usually on the front head that turns on the fans, the engine needs to at least 212 degrees for the fans to work, experience is key. 😊
Heads up if you replace fans cause they have failed buy them directly from Ford right off that bat. Save yourself some headache! Brother in law is a mechanic we found after markets fans were not kicking on or off when computer was commanding them to . Returned to auto zone replaced with Ford oem No more issues!
When I bought my edge that fan control module was unplugged I plugged that in and the fans came on when the car was turned off so I replaced that box and the second one melted the plug that plugs in to it .but when that module messes up the ac stops blowing cold but my car never over heats
Hey MacT! I have looked online for years why both my 2012 Ford Edge cooling fans come on full speed as soon as I turn on the AC. It sounds quite loud. I have had many cars throughout the years and never experienced something like this. I have read several testimonials online of people who claim to have solve the problem by replacing either the relays, the temperature sensor, the fan clutch or the wiring harness. Another guy claims that it is the air conditioner expansion valve and that as soon as he replaced it the cooling fans stopped and would only come on as soon as the engine reached certain temperature. I don’t know who to believe, but these fans sound really loud. Others claim that they took their car to the dealers and the mechanics there advised them to replace the fans however the issue persisted. The only way to turn them off is by shutting the AC off. But who wants to turn the AC off in the summer. However, you are saying now that this normal as long as you are traveling at less than 45 miles. The 2011-14 Ford Edge has got to be one of the most beautiful SUV’s ever created, but these loud fans turn me off. I’m pretty confuse. Have you witness other 2011-14 Ford Edges to find out if this is normal behavior with this model? I would greatly appreciate your response.
Hi , I’m having a problem with engine overheating. I can hear my fans turn on but then they turn off after about 20mins running. Especially if the ac is on. If i turn off the ac the temperature goes down. And the fans will turn on. Do you have any ideas what i could check? The fan assembly is new.
Replace fans before you have an real overhearing problem block issue. My fan were bad and water pump was failing. Water pump is internal and a real pain. Ford really dropped the ball for routine maintenance on the Ford Edge motor.
My daughters 2014 fans quit working today. Seems the connector that feeds the fans out of the fan control module, one of them has gotten hot a few times. I used a very small screwdriver to scrape inside the connector. The pin on the module looks ok. Cleaned all the old dried up dielectric grease out and put in some new. Got the fans working again but for how long is unknown. I'd like to replace the connector and was wondering if you know of any sources I can buy one ? ? ?
08 edge limited. Overheating. Both fans come on when car starts with AC on. Sitting at idle, Temp starts to rise above 221°. Once I turn AC off and/or turn the heater on, the temp drops to around 203° and fans slow down. Car is guzzling coolant. Both fans work but can't keep up with the AC on.
I'm no mechanic but I'm dealing with one now. If you're losing coolant I found a pinhole leak. I couldn't believe it. Just a dripping when it's hot in the T on top that connects the coolant hoses. It was on the bottom of the tee and was just dripping down where I couldn't see it with my flashlight until I replaced the radiator and everything I noticed it. That's got to be why you're losing coolant. Is that you have a leak. coolant doesn't just evaporate into nowhere. You got to be losing it somewhere
My edge is overheating when I sit at a red light or go through a drive thru. The fans kick on and off. We replaced the fan assembly OEM and the thermostat and it’s still overheating and blowing warm air. What else could it be?
Did you reset the AC and Thermostat. Google how to reset, you have to like hold 2 buttons etcétera. After we replace everything that's what we needed to do. I'm back cuz my relay exploded.
How we can determine if it’s thermostat or coolant temperature sensor or just fans? I have overheating problem on my 2011 model. When I start a car fans works okay no matter AC on or off. After 15-20min AC starts slowing down and fans does not want to kick in and I see engine temperature is going above the normal so I shut down the car. Any advice?
You could have went to the junkyard tried it out on one of their junkie cars and then if you felt okay with it, go buy one 75 bucks and spend a couple hours putting it in
Im ready to send my 09 ford edge to the crusher. Ive searched online for 3 months now replaced every single thing anyone has said worked to make the fans come on. Ive replaced the pcm that the fans plug into ive replaced the fan which came with another pcm pre assembled to it ive replaced every single relay and fuse in both fuse boxes. Ive replaced the high pressure switch on the AC high pressure line. In total im at around $1400 in repairs the fans are good i can hook them up directly to the battery and they come on at full speed. I just now switched the high pressure switch still nothing found idk if your able to help or not im just at my witts end with this car
So I went on vacation for 3 weeks and when I got back my edge started right up. Then 3 days later the battery died. Got it jumped and now the CD player won’t let me retrieve my cds or p new ones in. The screen just says initializing anytime I press a cd button. Any tips and tricks to get it working or get my cds out? Also the battery died again hours after the jump -_-
I had my MKX 2011 parked but turned on and when I got on to continue I heard that it sounded (it was showing high temperature at the maximum) but I did not pay much attention until almost half a minute after starting the march and stopped at the traffic light. The suv trembled and it felt strange, but at the same time the temperature dropped immediately to normal. I stopped, turned it off and checked but I didn't notice an overheating but I think it was hotter than normal, i think. I continued and got home normal, but now I have a check engine light on and I don't know if it caused any damage. any help will be greatly appreciated
Mac im doing my own tests right now cold start I only have a small scanner reading live data from ect and checking my temp fans to kick on 2012exploer 3.5l everything is working good im thinking I just needed coolant.thats why it kinda overheated last time.cold start no ac both fan kick on at1xspeed 103c off 104c 2nd tim 2xspeed 112c took 10minutes thn off at103c 3rd time got to 115c the dugital guage in cluster went almost close to overheating I had to turn it off now what fans dint kick on and I could hear bubbles in coolnt reservoir
Mac do you think I have a bad ect coolant temp sensor cuz on your videos it reaches temp 203 mine does evnt get that close but fans do turn on or do I have air in my system
@@WilliamPurcellHotshotCustom yes my problem was the fan module but I replaced the fans it was cheaper and it came with the module already after that no more iver heating
Okay I need help i have a question I have a brand new fan for my 2010 ford edge limited. And it is not coming on I don't know if it's a fuse but I got it checked and they say it's not I don't know if it's the compressor all I know is I can drive for awhile in my car run hot I have gotten the fan replaced twice and the fan is not coming on so can someone tell me what else can it be

@@danielanokam No. According to this guy that is normal as long as the AC is on.
The AC button... Winner winner 💯

Thanks for this detailed video
I'm having same issue on my 2012 explorer but I wanted to ask you those fans in this video the good fans or bad fans i think you didn't mention it.
Motorcraft fans. I replaced the OE fans with the new motorcraft fans. When I rebuilt the 2011 Edge (Herbie) in stalled the fans in it.

Maybe you can buy from dealer Ford.

YO MAC T - What is the "cap" you have installed on the air filter cover? Also, should I remove the resonator like you did and cap? Advantages?
I’ll try to get that obd app. But my edge fans turn on just fine (visually) and it is still overheating :(

Adding it does have two connectors on the relay. It has a tow package

You have an ECM problem.
These cars have so many electronics. Might need to
Take to Ford and have re flashed or replaced .

But how about if you don't have the ac on and the car overheat
My Ford edge some time if am driving is going off
