My mother still has this tribute album on vinyl and I remember listening to it as a kid… so many amazing artists and Andrew was such a gifted songwriter… cancer sucks…😢
This song has so many legends - Jimmy Barnes and Mick Pealing, Broderick Smith (Harp), Rick Formosa LRB (acoustic), the amazing Mal Eastick ( guitar solo) and too many others to list. Get this DVD to see the best of Australia's artists join together for a common good. BTW, Mal Eastick also played guitar on Barnseys solo album Bodyswerve.
I appreciate this song very much. I work on the paddle steamers, so it gets me right in the feelings whenever I hear it. To all the old riverboat folk, we salute you. And to the hardworking girls, the river boats themselves, the ones we've lost, we remember you and the ones we still have? We love you.
@traceyinny Understand, i think that this is such an underated song.. i believe that this is just as good a song as khe sahn or its a long way to the top
He can still sing like that. The voice is still there, its just restricted by his latest choice of material. Check out a band called 'Living Loud'. It's the last time our Jim did something truly decent.
One could also say that anyone that anyone who doesn't like Barnes may well have heard of the word subtle. Something that Barnes has never been able to be. The original was much better, I have this album on vinyl, and it is awesome.
@jacklozza - I've been looking for a long time but decided I'll learn it myself....haven't finished yet... Intro: C Bm Am G C G Verse: C Bm Am G Em Am D C Chorus: C D G x2 C C/B .....this is where I'm up to. These last 2 chords are over the "someone throws me a line" Anyone else PLEASE correct mine and add some more! Listening to the bass player helps a lot.
If you're still there, replace the Bm with a Gmaj7/B (Astring fret 2, D str fr 4, G str open, Bstr fr 3) Those last 2 chords are. C into C# diminished (A str 4fr, D str 5th Gstr 3rd fr, Bstr 5th fr) Hope this helps

Wow. I know it's an old clip but I love it as much today as I did when it was new. Great music.
Mick Pealing had such gr8 voice!!! Remember seeing Stars perform lunchtimes at Brighton High.(SA) Devastated when Andy moved on.

Bullshit, Mick does a hugely better job on this!

A great song done in the days when Barnesey sang rather than screeched.
Can you screech as well as Jimmy try to do it. He is the best screecher in the world. They say Sting is good, he is nothing compared to Jimmy
Trying to relocate the video with Andy, that was available a couple of years ago...
Thank. You for The songs put too Music AD

No offence but this song belongs to mick and not jimmy... Prefer the original... But all done for the right reasons... Great to hear Stars songs
I actually prefer this to the original.so happty to have found it. I missed it...
Ah those were the days, Broderick Smith on harp .
Back when Barnsey could sing. All he does now is screech

Sorry, for that C# dim, should be 3rd fret on the G string, not 6th (though that works too)
@@richardkenna149 thanks mate! Yep still here and will check that out. Still haven’t worked it all out after all these years!

@budrock01 but not as good as the man that wrote it, Bob Dylan
Rubbish Look up Andy Durant on Google
Haha what? Yeah Bob wrote probably millions of songs but this definitely ain't one of them
