Why can't all v-brake RUclips videos be this good? Every other video seemed to mention loads of stuff that made no difference like disconnecting the cables etc yet I followed your advice and 30 seconds later with a few turns of a screw and one of my blocks is no longer rubbing on the rim. 😎 Thank-you. 😊

This video may be older but it came in Sooo handy I just got a new bike online had to build it out of the box and first thing I noticed after putting the front wheel on was this exact issue, every other how to fix issue made me start with the quick release, then undo the brake pads themselves and put it all back but finally got the answer I needed thanks to your video and just have to adjust those little screws , thank you!

Thank you for your video, I can’t tell you what a difference this has made to my bike, I was given this bike months ago and I was finding it hard to cycle and it put me off this bike, which was a shame as I quite liked the look of it, I discovered today that incredibly I have had one side of my front brake constantly rubbing against the wheel making cycling this bike awful. When I discovered what was actually happening I was at a complete loss on how to fix this, of course having watched your video I have now fixed the problem. I really just want to say a big thank you, from an old man who learnt a new trick😊

I just changed out the pads on my bike's rear brakes (front brake is a disc type), and ran into this problem. The linear / "V" brakes seem much easier to work with than the "caliper" types I remember fighting with on older bikes our family has owned, so I'm impressed.

On most bikes, if you remove the brakes, there are 3 holes on the brake mount for the spring to go into. You can add or subtract spring tension by moving the spring to a different hole if you run out of adjustment with the screws as shown in the video.

I unscrew both sides first so there is no tension on either side and see where the pads sit. Then I tighten the side that is touching until its central. This way the two sides aren't fighting each other unnecessarily.
