I’ve had v brakes for four years and never knew about the three points for spring tension. Thank you!
In 3 minutes you covered everything I've been looking to learn about these breaks. They've always been a pain in the butt and you sent me straight fantastic to the point video thank you very much
Sounds like you got a lucky break!
BRAKES!!
🤦♂️
😉
Totally concur. Clear and to the point. Rockin'
First one I have seen the actual mentions taking the arms off and adjusting the tension using the three points. I'm having a few problems adjusting my brakes between the different variations and this helped me understand the impacts of each of them...
Rear adjustments was the hardest. Arm kept tilting to one side. Now it works great. Thank you for the detailed information. I greatly appreciate it.
You've just given me another good idea. The bike shop told me to only adjust the brake blocks at the brake lever fine adjustment barrel, then the cable will never get damaged at the pinch bolt at the v-brake. But the fine adjustment at max means the brake blocks are only half worn out, so all I have to do is reverse the spacers, putting the larger ones on the brake block side, so it will bring them nearer the wheels.
I bought new bike and the front pad was rubbing slightly, and niggled me 😁. I tried adjusting with the small adjuster bolt but it didn't work so I followed this video and adjusted one side spring in one of the three holes at back of mechanism now works fine. Couldn't understand why one side needed such big adjustment. This video was the only one that offered this advice, thank you.
I was going to say the same thing about those washers/spacers on the brakes. Even that professional bike tool videos channel haven't mentioned it or the other info.
Niggled, lol ?
Niggled💀
Never knew the spring adjustment holes.... solves all my problems. Thanks!
So very helpful and clearly explained. I never knew how to adjust the spring. That was my major issue. Thank You!
@Oscar Kody yea, have been watching on Flixzone for months myself :)
Thank you very much! Much more details than any other v-brake video.
Thank you!
For sure best video out there on this. Short. And informative exactly what I need!
Much more informative then other ones I've watched on this subject, thank you.

This is A Decent, Easy to Follow and Nonsense-Free Guide. Clear and Concise. If Bike Maintenance & Set-Up Is something that a a rider hasn't attempted before, these kind of How-To's A Great. And once you know how, you Rarely forget.
Just used your video to help me sort out neighbours V brakes - thanks alot for posting was a great help.
This video is incredibly helpful. Well done and that you!
Thank you! This is the best video I've seen on v-brakes. I think you've covered everything and it was easy to follow.
Be careful not to over tighten the Allen bolts that hold the brake arms to the frame. Steel bolts going into alloy threads can strip fairly easily. I slightly did it, but no big damage occurred, just a warning.
As usual your videos are absolutely to the point and easily followed. Love your efficiency. Perfect thanks.
great video. If your brakes are rubbing, adjust the spacers. as in time 2:40. The side that moves less, put the wider washer on the outside of the tightening screw.
Wonderfully informative,my wife has v brakes on her bike which need servicing, now I can refer to this video to talk me through the process - thankyou.
This is the best brake adjustment tutorial I have ever seen. Excellent job 👍
Excellent.
Thanks for the 3-hole explanation for the v-lever tension and the spacers position swapping.
Thank you. I have been trying to get my daughter's breaks right for the longest time.
I KNEW Walmart put our bikes together wrong! 😂
You have a great knack for explaining things clearly!!! Thank You!!!
Came here to get a rough idea and got a full education
Great video. Was able to adjust the front and back brakes on our bikes. Thanks!

Short and to the point. Thank you!
Thats was more than helpful, you covered everything in short time and easy way
Thank you
Thank you so much, super helpful!
Perfect. Answered my question! Thanks.
Excellent Video. Thank you!
Thanks for the no nonsense video......learned a lot......putting linier on my 90s Trek that had cantilever slight rear spring pin hole alignment complication however slight mod....should work without catastrophic failure...... appreciated have a super evening !
The first time I've been told that v-brakes don't need any toe-in. I don't put any toe-in in, so good to know I'm doing the right thing.
Clear and concise video, great
Very detailed and clear description of the different parts, what they do, and how to adjust them. Thanks for this!
Hello from Minneapolis Minnesota United States 2024 thank you for your help 👍

Thank you👍
Absolutely fantastic and thanks 🙏👍
Thanks for watching!
The best bike for commuting
I have seen the actual mentions taking the arms off and adjusting the tension using the three points
good video you can toe vee brakes about 1 or 2 mm is ideal put rubber band and adjust , then take rubber band off ....stops the squeal
V well explained
A+ video
Thank you! Well though video.
although one of the two pads keep on sticking to the rim. 🤔
One of my side arms (not the pad) is always closer to the rim. It doesn't come back all the way, even when the tension is set at the highest setting. Even when I center them, once I pull the brake lever once, one of the arms sticks closer to the wheel and the pad rubs on the rim. WTF!
Awesome!
SO SHWEEEETTT...much love Tee with LIONS NAMED LEO.[the music worldwide}
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH FOR MAKING.....THIS..!! just what i needed in the now...I am always learning SO fun..!!!
They should teach this stuff in school
They only teach stupid stuff like history and religion
I probably went over a bump the other day on my bike, so I when I spin the front wheel it'll grab on one side without applying the brakes
Thank-you! I went to two bike shops! Really! The first couldn't figure out what was wrong and jimmied the front breaks with a zip tie. Oh no not good. Went to the second one and they said I needed to replace the whole apparatus because I had the wrong set? What?
What was wrong was that somehow (i think the first bike shop) bent the little metal pole that sticks out to create the tension. Was bent flat down so of course there was no tension.
I thought this would be so difficult! I managed to straighten the metal pole and place it in the middle hole as instructed and voila! All beautiful! Can't believe that it took two bike shops and just my intuition to look for a video that was simple and elementary and so clear on what to do! Thanks again.
What is the little pad with a tiny screw in it at the bottom of the each brake?
Thanks again!
Shout out to the guy who made the video series in Canada. He must have sold the rights to BikeRide.
Perfect
Thanks eh❤
Honesty I hate v-brakes so much
At last!! The root of my problem was the tension on the arms. Taking them off and adjusting their position did the trick. Thanks.
Shit was killing me untill u watched this
And yet they still rub
This matter cannot be adequately addressed with just a 3:15 video.
What a stupid system they use now where you can't simply slide the pad-rod towards the rim but have to use washer for it...
Bull! "Tow" still needs to be applied!

The only way to Heaven is to be born again by saying out loud "Jesus is Lord" and believing in ur heart that God rose Him from the dead then you must live for Him i suggest getting baptized, repenting(asking for forgiveness of your sins and making a radical turn from ur sin), fasting (doesnt have to be from food), evangelizing(spreading the Gospel), praying, and reading the Bible. God and Jesus love all of you hmu with any questions have a good day God bless✝️❤️❤️ good works dont get u to Heaven God's grace does John 3:16
Colossians 2:6
Romans 10:9
Cheap v brakes are terrible
this sucked. you get the the end. the actual adjustment part. but you dont say what turning it in or out does. what direction makes the brake arm have more tension. like if one side is pulling harder than the other. you want to screw it in or out. etc. i give you a c for effort.
@c3strom I wanna win!
Thanks a lot, this helped meoebx :)))
Thank you glad it helped!
Awesome!
